Re: May Chat!

Wow, Saijen, that sounds like a horrible ant invasion! No wonder with all the candy around. emoticon Good on ya with laying down some more rules. Looks as if some people do work but don't think while they do it.

TM, glad you're having some easier days now. And even better that Willa is back in her own bed!

As for me, I got my Vitamin D stats today, and I'm definitely below normal and in "severe lack" territory. We don't have fortified milk here in Germany. So now I have to find an MD willing to prescibe D for me, since that's how it's handled here. I do wish I could get the Vitamin D capsules you have over there, but they are not allowed to leave the US. At least now I know why I feel worn down and sad so often, and why my teeth seem to be sprouting caries lately. Darn, darn.

Work is still improving. We had another "official" talk today, and things are getting better all the time. I'm soooo glad I finally blew my top and managed to ask for help. Big lesson there for me.

I also asked an editor if she would edit my book, and she also gave me a price. I have to do the math yet, but it'll probably be somewhat painful. No matter, it has to be done, and I know I can work with her. Guess I'll blog about that soon.

Oh, and I had a riding lesson today! It went very well. The grumpy gelding is behaving more or less (except for kicking another horse, grrr!). But I got lots of canter in, and he's starting to go easy in the mouth and listen to me. I love it when that happens. The change at work is also affecting my riding - I can sense I sit taller and more upright, and thus my tail bones make a better connection to the horse. Of course, now I'm sore.

Hi di ho gang...
A fly by posting by me too! I have to have my breakfast, shower, dressed and be ready to take Mom and her friend shopping for dishwashers by 9am.
Mom wants a new one, with a "short cycle" as they are on a well and have a drain field. The normal ones take tons of water and wash for like an hour. Her friend then wants her old one.
This afternoon then, I will probably be sealing some gutter seams that leak....means up and down an 8 foot step ladder.

OKAY GANG...gotta run! Have as good a day as possible!

FIRLE....that is scary about your Vit. D stats...hope you can find an MD...can you get eat cheeses and yogurt...those have vitamin D?
So happy that you are back and riding.. emoticon

SAIJEN....
I'd be setting down the rules, and busting some heads if they were not followed! emoticon
I love those magic erasers...use them EVERY WHERE!! emoticon

TM..Hope Willa gets to eating and feeling better. SOON... emoticon

Re: May Chat!

Queeny: Have fun with your mom, and good luck in finding a nice dishwasher.

Cheeses and yoghurt don't have Vitamin D here. Milk and dairy are not fortified in Germany. Coldwater fish oil has some, and avocados have some, but not nearly enough to cover daily needs. Even my multivitamin now has some, but it's about one 20th of daily needs. So all that is basically useless.

I'll try to persuade my MD to prescribe the big guns next week. Sadly, such a prescription is also necessary in Germany. And most doctors still learned that there is no Vitamin D deficiency in people, period. I hope to persuade him to an experiment.

Today, I'm having more trouble with a low metabolism than usual. Frozen hands and feet, and I even woke up feeling icy cold from a nap. Heating is only working reluctantly, since the sensor seems to say it's warm enough outside (which it isn't).

Oh, and I signed up on the Kindle publishing service. I might try to sell one of my short stories first that never made it into a magazine. Too long and probably too shamanic.

Re: May Chat!

Firle, sorry to hear about the Vit D deficiency! The ease of access to supplements in the US is a double edged sword. There's a lot of JUNK out there, I even think some of it is dangerous. But then you can get things like Vit D caps. I had no idea that wasn't available in other countries.

I'm assuming you know the best way to get it is with sun exposure. I know that can be hard in colder months and in more northern latitudes. But it's always something to think about. I *believe* I've heard that as little as 15 minutes of full skin exposure a day will get the requirement. So maybe an hour with shorts and a tank top.

Tuesday night I went to a 'Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance' meeting - it's an advocacy group to get laws changed to make farming as easy for the little guys as it is for the big guys. Good meeting, lots of info and I've offered to volunteer for them. I have a blog post in the works on it and will link to it here when I get it published - way too much to write about twice!

After that, I went out to the farm. My mom had picked up Willa at school so she was already out there. We spent the night (giving hubby some much needed time to catch up on work) and I left the next morning to get back to work while Willa stayed for her usual farm day. It's looking great out there but I will be ready for new managers (things seem to be slipping through the cracks...). My mom signed on the new folks and they start officially at the end of June.

Just working today!

Re: May Chat!

I'll try to respond in full either tomorrow morning, or tomorrow night.....my pain pill is kicking in so just a quick post....

Opening night went very well. We had about half a house, so not too bad. We can seat about 100, with what we have, chair-wise, on the floor right now.
The cast did an outstanding job, as usual, and the crowd responded well.

Our Ripley's execs were there, and they LOVED it (thank you, Goddess!) They got a huge kick out of our leading man's solo. He played it up big time and the entire audience ate it up!

I'm exhausted, but I'm proud of myself. I didn't 'lose it' tonight....kept things flowing as well as possible, and it all worked out. I mingled with the guests, afterwards, asking if they enjoyed the show, etc. Everyone I talked with seemed to have really enjoyed it.
We did have an elderly couple that were sitting in the volunteers staging area (we have a couch in the back of the theater for the volunteers and the cast when we're not in performance mode)....and about half way through the first half of the show, they got up, went to the bathroom then just left! Guess they didn't like it. Oh well. May have been a bit too risque for them.

Anyway...my eyes are closing, so, I need to get in bed. Have another full day tomorrow. Returning phone calls, taking phone calls, getting tonight's cash counted out.........a never-ending job...LOL.

(What HAVE I gotten myself into? emoticon )

Re: May Chat!

Ok...not sure I have a lot of time for a full reply today, either! emoticon

Trying, desperately, to get some laundry caught up, while doing a host of other things...so, pardon any typos and misspells.

Last night went well. A few glitches along the way, and 2 accidents, but no one got hurt. In the opening number, one of our ladies got her heel hung on a stage board, and fell...hard. Then, later, our leading man bashed into the back stage wall (no one in the audience saw it) and there is now a huge hole in the wall that fits his back perfectly! emoticon He told me that the wall literally caught him like a catcher's mitt...and he was stuck in the wall...had to have help getting detached! I think he had on the harness for the lift (he gets lifted to the ceiling twice during the play) and it has a metal bar from the neck to the hip in the back...and he stumbled backwards and into the wall he went!

Anyway, had about half the house full...and the Ripley's people really enjoyed themselves! One couple in that bunch flew in from New York, just to see the play! How's that for gettin fancy? emoticon

Lot of fun..and VERY emoticon overwhelming. Hope I'm in better form tonight.

SOOO flippin tired, so think I'll have to gulp down some 5 Hour Energy before heading out to the theater. That stuff works and it doesn't mess with my BP, or anything else. No crash, no jitters....it just works.

anyway...need to go check laundry. I'll try to pop back in when I can!

Re: May Chat!

Hi All,

Just a quick note to say that my computer up and DIED a few weeks ago. So I have not been on the internet much! I am at the public library right now. I have to say, my husband and I are not really missing the internet much! Of course, I have wondered how you ladies are, and I am missing the book discussion! emoticon But, I have taken up playing the dobro, and am getting a lot of work done around the house and yard. We have been playing music and taking walks and working outside in the evenings instead of surfing the net and watching TV. So in that respect, it's really nice! I hope that all of your are doing well!

Re: May Chat!

I've been wondering about you Rebecca! I usually don't have a computer at home - I do all all my 'chatting' during breaks at work. Lately I've been bringing my laptop home though in case pregnancy stuff keeps me in bed, I can still get work done. But I find myself online far more than I really *want* to be.

Good for you for enjoying life! Don't worry about us - we'll still be here for the occasional check-in!

Re: May Chat!

Rebecca, sounds like you have found the secret to happiness...LOL. Since really digging in at the theater, I've discovered I have very little time for the computer, and while I miss my family here, and family/friends on facebook, I'm enjoying not having the computer in my lap all day long.

As Texas said, however....we're not going anywhere, so we'll look forward to your posts when you're able to get in to let us know how you're doing.

I'm so totally wiped out......I'm glad we have this break for a couple of days, but I know I'll be more than happy when the time comes to get back to the theater. Today has been kind of weird, not having to be there, but I did get the rest of my laundry caught up, got a prop painted, read, cooked supper....just doesn't feel right, though. Kinda weird...lol

We resume the shows on Thursday, and run 5 more shows, total. One on Thurs. Fri. 2 on Sat. and one on Sun. The cast will be more than ready for things to be over.
I think, since we have 2 shows on Saturday, the Arts Council will provide lunch for the cast so they can just sit back and chill between shows. Grab a nap if needed, and just relax. I'm hoping we have enough people show up to make 2 shows worth their while.

We've had a lot of fun, and I'm making even more friends, via some of the cast members. Of course, they are all down in the Knoxville area....but, at least I'm making friends up here, too. DB, the lady over me (the Pres. of the Arts Council) and I are becoming close. She's learning all of this at the same time I am. We work really well together. We're both strong minded women, and we may eventually butt heads, but we both also are smart enough to listen to others that know more about what we're doing than we do....and we aren't stupid enough to ignore suggestions, but so far, there's not been any forthcoming, so apparently we're doing a good job.

The diet has kind of (but not totally) gone by the wayside. We're not adhereing to it exactly, but we're watching what we eat, and doing salads and things of that nature, since I'm not able to cook while I'm at the theater.....we're still losing weight. DH has lost another 2 pounds, I've only lost a half a pound, but I've lost a pants size....I'm hoping I can at least get under 200 by the time I leave for Texas on June 10th. If I can lose 3 pounds, I'll be at 199! LOL.... would be the first time in almost 28 years that I've been under 200! Keeping fingers crossed!!!

Not much else going on around here.
