Struggling to catch up

I have been away from home for most of the last two years, tending to Mom after her stroke, then dealing with the estate process after she passed.

I'm home for a few days, and this part of south Texas is just parched. My poor flower beds. The things that have survived are tough, but I've lost some lovely daylilies and a my echinacea and some of the sage. My herb bed is a mound of grass, so I'm just hoping there are still herbs under there.

Tomorrow is weeding and watering!

Re: Struggling to catch up

I sure know what you mean about drought! I am working on spells and rituals for rain again. The night before last there was a storm cloud stuck the county below us and didn't move, they got lots of rain but we didn't get a drop! emoticon I could see the lightening in the distance over the mountain and watched the moon rise to a clear starry side in the east. Neat huh?

Its so dry here that our well went dry and now we will be drilling a new well in June to the tune of $8,000-$10,000 and having to drill a 800' well. We can't drill deeper in our existing well because it now violates codes because when they built the house 40 yrs ago they drilled the well 10' from the house and then the second owners, who we bought it from, built a beautiful deck over the top of it. So now we have to put the deck on again and then drill. In the meantime we use the local water system, a tank that gets filled with water monthly, but its chlorinated and tastes YUKKY!

I've read the stories about how dry some parts of texas are and of farmers selling their cows, herds that have been in the family for generations because there isn't any feed. Thats so sad. Heres hoping ya'll get rain down there soon too and you have some herbs under there sprouting their little green heads soon!
