Re: The one thing you regret most about being pagan?

Perhaps I was your Priest, Babadski..lol...I was one in a former life.

yeah, it is hard not having a more structured atmosphere like a church when that's what you grew up in. I noticed you grew up Southern Baptist....so did I, and man do they stress 'GOIN TO CHURCH'!!! Seemed like every time the dang door was open, we were there for some thing or other.
I have just recently (in the past year and a few months) found my coven. Before that, I was totally alone, which sucked rotten eggs big time. Thing is, you may check out in the grocery store in the line that the cashier is a Witch, or Pagan, but you won't know it because it's so hard to 'come out of the broom closet', as it were. Too much condemnation.
I hope you find some like minded friends, and can enjoy your path even more emoticon emoticon

Well, the pagan community here is fairly "out" as it were, but they tend to be quite insular. My understanding, from what little I've heard and reading between the lines, is that there was some big blow up among some of the various pagan groups in the area a few years ago, and since then, all the groups tend to stick to themselves.

I'm hoping to go to the BC Witch Camp at some point. I was going to go this summer, but my sister stole my vacation time with her surgery *laughs*. I ended up going back to Texas to take care of her, so there went Witch Camp for this year. Maybe next year, though.

Witch Camp is from the Reclaiming Tradition. If I remember correctly, the reclaiming website is http://www.reclaiming.org

Ah... ok. Maybe that's why I'd never heard of it. I'm in the British Tradition, with a subtle twist lol.

I have no regrets.. I am who I am and can't change that.

What I do not like is how Agressive the Xains in this country are getting.
From not being able to find neutral and correct Homeschooling books, to TV.. even Star Wars they picked apart and since they liked it.. they had to find all kinds of their Religion ideals to make it Kosher for them. Discusting and very sad.
Then the "Creation Musuems" and what the owner said on National TV about Religions and people not like theirs. So wrong on so many levels. To change history and the way this planet came to be...even with all the Scientific proof..proving the Bible is wrong in so many way.

Why not say.. opps.. ok.. well we are all human.. admit they were wrong, their bible isn't perfect ..learn grow, and show talerance to other people.

I do wish I could talk about being pagen/Heathen in the open. Just is not safe.
And many of the Xians are so closed minded, scared sheepalls.. that they can't leave us alone or understand their religion isn't the only one.

That is an interesting web site. Will take me awhile to go through all of it.

I decided to get two Witch/Pagan magazines, just to see what is going on.
Some of the people are like me..live their life as a Pagan/heathen, quiet, would not be able to tell me from any other person.
Then there are others.. that are in it for the shock value, to flaunt or what ever. Their belief in what a witch is ,,,sorry just isn't normal..what they do. Gross in my words.

While I would love to find like minds in my area. I have run into to many...oh..how to put this.....they have way too odd ideas of what it is to be pagan.
I know there are many paths but some of them are just....they put a bad name on the rest of us.

I am a simple person,, don't drink, smoke or take drugs for fun. Am not comfortable around people that do. I love my herb garden...granted they are still in pots, Some day I will have a proper raised bed garden,,love nature, my animals, the peace and quiet of the countryside. I do not force my views on others..not big into rituals. I have my own but they are simple and quiet.
Am not a flash and bling person.
Is hard to find people local like me.

We are a lot alike. There are so many "wanna-be's" out there...those that just play at it, and think that because they do, they're the "real deal". Well, that's just bullocks.
I do enjoy most rituals, some, I'd prefer to be alone, with me, myself and I, to do it how I FEEL it. I don't go around telling people what I am, but I don't exactly hide it either.
I have a pentagram necklace that I simply adore. Partially because of it's symbolism, partially because it's an awesome piece of Celtic jewelry and unless you KNOW what it is, it just looks like an interesting piece of jewelry. A few weeks ago, I took my youngest daughter out to eat at our favorite Chinese restaurant. Our waitress told me how much she liked my pentagram. It surprised me. She is like minded, but, like me, doesn't make a big showing of it. I found out, through her, that there are many of us here in my little town....I only know of 2 others, outside of her and myself.

Like you..I am what I am, can't, and won't change that. I've been like this for a VERY long time..I just had no idea what 'this' was until the last several years. I think maybe deep down I knew, but having been brought up to believe that it's wrong, I denied it.

As I said before...my biggest regret is not knowing others like me, closer to home.

Oh,, I would like to know a couple of others like me in my area. But sadly it hasn't worked out that way.

Seems I can only find "like minds" on the internet.

I think the true pagans are the "earth" people. The herb ladies of old, or the older wiser man or woman that was smart enough to learn to use what they had and to help people. Then the dumb, snitty, snarky, envious others started the 'lynch' mob mentality - and it's never gone away. Just ebs and flows back and forth throughout time.

Blessings to each of you,
Fenyx
