Good and Bad News

Well I have finally finished the goat pen. The pen area is roughly 24 by 48 and is attached to the barn, which is about 16 by 8. We have a much larger pasture but the fence is dilapated, but the can graze with supervision(If let loose with no one there I am sure I will be spending a lot of time tracking them up and down the hill!!).

Next I have to replace a few boards on the barn.

Now to the bad news. We made an order from Hoegger for milk pail, nippers, collars, and some other items they were suppose to arrive today via UPS. We have been watcing the tracking number as well as for the truck all day. A little while ago we checked again and it said the package had been left on the back porch at 2:50PM emoticon There is no package..... it was left somewhere.

We called and UPS said Hoegger would have to invesigate and it could take up to 8 days!!!!!emoticon

We are schedueled to pick up the girls friday. My wife is going to call Hoegger tomarrow and see if we can get this resolved quickly

Bobby emoticon

Bobby...I sure hope you can get this straightened out....there's nothing more frustrating than a goof like that. You need it when you need it....not a week later.
Keep us posted on how it goes.

Congrats on getting the fencing in. That must have been a lot of work.

I hope they can locate your package. Silly people, leaving it on a porch somewhere because they cannot read the address well. *shakes head*

Best of luck! emoticon

I would bug UPS too what do they mean Hoegger needs to investigate they left it on the wrong porch. Their driver needs to check his route and figure out which porch he left it at.

Seems Bobby that things like that happen when you need them the most. I recalled the situation I had yrs ago when I ordered my pail and strainer from Hoeggers. Only UPS didn't mess it up, when I ordered it they had just sent the order to Germany where they make them and I had to wait 5 months for mine. The good thing was I got it in time for the national goat show that yr. I still have the bucket and strainer and LOVE them they are like cast iron those stainless steel ones.

You have to watch UPS though. I recently had a problem with Fed-X. Dang....had to send back a semen tank I got goat semen in back to Florida. Well...they managed to get all the info wrong and then I had to have the person in Fla straighten it out as she was the sender they said. She gives them the correct address again, they got it mixed up, sent it to MT. View, AR, Main street to boot. I was furious, we live miles away from there and on a rural road. After 2 weeks they finally got it picked up. GRRR! emoticon

I bet you're tired from getting the fencing done....way to go, you sure worked hard at getting that done and the barn! I am so excited for you, you're going to LOVE your new Alpines, but then I am sorta biased! *evil Alpine Grin* emoticon

Bet it feels good to get all the fencing done!

Sorry about UPS.
Sometimes I have gotten packages where I wondered how in the world the item inside was not broken! Looked like it was thrown out of a moving plane!
Hope Hoeggers can get it sorted out fast!

Re: Good and Bad News

Well good news. The driver dropped the packages off at one of my neighbors and they were kind enough to bring it over so yippee emoticon

What makes me mad about the whole situation is UPS and how they handled it the whole idea of the seller doing an investigation is just them trying not to take responsability for a product their handlers lost.

Well before we found out a neighbor had the package my wife called Hoegger and they contacted UPS which then took up the investigation...could not just do it when my wife called emoticon . They then called my wife and asked a ton of stupid questions: "Did you emoticon heck the back porch?"

Anyway its over and we have our order and are ready for the alpines. Thanks for letting me vent.

Thanks for the kind words mystic and it is ok to be biased I am hoping to be myself in a a little while!

Oh we also got our new hatchlings: 2 turkeys, 2 geese, 3 duck and 11 hens. I got pics and will post them as soon I get them off the camera. They are a McMurray we pick deal so we are trying to figure out what they are. It seems like it is 11 rhode island red hens, 1 toulouse, 1 african goose, 1 bronze broad breasted turkey, 1 giant white, 1 rouen duck, 1 buff duck, and 1 white crested duck. They all arrived fine. The turkeys have looking to definately be dinner, they are quite nosy and have no fear of our hands whatsever. They may prove problematic later.

I'm really glad that it was just at a neighbor's. But still..that just burns me up when they do stupid stuff like that. At least here, they ASK if you're the person...if you're at home. I've had that happen the last 2 times I got a package thru UPS. Was rather nice, especially after reading your ordeal.

WOW on all the hatchlings. I'd love to have some chickens, but my dogs would kill them unless we had them in a yard or coop...and our landlord won't let us build a coop...SO....no lil critters. emoticon

SO glad it all worked out in the end!
