What is your favorite Esbat/Sabbat, and why?
I actually have two....Ostara and Samhain.
Ostara, because it is the ending of the cycle of death, the beginning of the cycle of life (I love spring), and Samhain, because it's when the veil between the worlds is at it's thinnest, and I can more easily communicate with my grandmother, for one, and with other wise ones who can guide me. I can communicate with them at any point, it's just easier at this point...plus, it's the Witches New Year.
Samhain, is probably my favorite of the two....during my most favorite time of the year. I seem to have a much stronger energy during Samhain, than at any other time of the year. I generally feel better physically, emotionally, spiritually at this time. I've not yet made the complete corrilation, but when I am supposed to have it all, I will.

Re: What is your favorite Esbat/Sabbat, and why?
This is a bit of a personal tangent, since I don't celebrate the Wiccan holidays, but I do mark the turnings of the seasons. My favorite is the winter solstice, because it marks the true arrival of my favorite season. I'm a bizarre bird; I like winter. I also like the autumnal equinox because it represents relief from the oppressive heat of summer, to me.

Re: What is your favorite Esbat/Sabbat, and why?
I have just added the cross quarter days to my holidays as of this year. I finally have a homestead where I need to be more in tune with the seasons but I have always marked the equinoxes and solstices. So right now, I don’t have a true feeling for what all 8 mean to me personally. But I really do love the summer solstice. I love to be outside and the longer the day is, the better. I sleep less in the summer and am able to enjoy more of life. Bring on the sun!

Re: What is your favorite Esbat/Sabbat, and why?
Just a quick interjection here.
I realize not all members are Wiccan/Witches, or even Pagan, and may not celebrate the same Sabbats and Esbats...so I guess I need to learn to add phrasing to as to not leave anyone out of some of these thoughts or questions. Please don't ever think I'm intentionally leavning anyone out..I'd never do that.
I am glad that those of you who don't Celebrate the Wiccan holidays still answered. We need everyone's input in order to have intelligent, informed conversations...so thank you!!! And I'll try to do better!!!!!

Re: What is your favorite Esbat/Sabbat, and why?
Don't worry about being too careful to include everyone all the time Saijen, it's so hard to do - and I'll just butt in anyways It's really easy to feel welcome here, by the way!
Obviously, on a board called "pagan porch", we expect a pagan tilt!

Re: What is your favorite Esbat/Sabbat, and why?
I also like to mark and take note of all the seasons.
My favorites would be Winter Solstice and Vernal Equinox. At WS I am always looking forward to longer days and the promise of nice weather to come. I'm also very thankful that we have all the food and shelter we need and think about my ancestors who had to rough it a lot more than we do in modern times. VE is the fruition of WS and what I have been looking forward to. What's not to like about that? LOL!
I like to think about my ancestors at the milestones and all through the year. I keep a little shrine of pictures for that. I think about what they would have been doing/feeling. Halloween is especially good for that and I welcome all of my ancestors (known and unknown as far back as time) to dinner who come with good intention. So I guess I really enjoy that one too!
This is a fun topic! It makes me happy!

Re: What is your favorite Esbat/Sabbat, and why?
Texas, first of all, I'm glad that you feel welcome here...we want all to feel that way. As for the pleasing everyone...I know that it's impossible to do that..lol. But, I also know how I feel when I feel left out of a discussion on something, so, I try to be sure I get a nice balance. Also, very hard to do sometimes.
Blaithin, I'm glad you like the topic and that it makes you happy. That makes ME happy!!!
By the way....if anyone has any suggestions for the Thought/Topic of the week, please let me know and I'll add it to my list for future posts I want everyone to have a part in this. Thanks!!!!!
