New from NW Washington
Hi, all.
I just wandered over here from Green Branch, where someone linked the board.
I'm 45, live in NW Washington with my husband, 3 dogs and 2 cats. We've been together for 5 years, and strangely enough, it was the first long term relationship for either of us.
Religiously, I was raised Southern Baptist, converted to Roman Catholic in college, and have been becoming pagan for a long time, but just in the last couple of years have more fully embraced a pagan path. I guess you could call me an eclectic witch, a solitary not by choice. It's really hard to find others to connect with sometimes, so it's nice to find places where you can share these topics.
We live in the city, so not homesteaders, but it's my goal to have a bit of land someday and be mostly self-sufficient. Everything but meat, that is, because the husband won't eat anything he knows personally *laughs*. I was raised around livestock, so I don't really have any qualms about it, but I'll humor him and try to find someone who'll let me buy part of their meat *grins*. I do put in a small garden in the back yard every year, although I'm very late getting started this year. We do a combination of pots and plants in the little flower bed we have. If I had my druthers, I'd dig up most of the backyard, but I think the landlord wouldn't approve.

Re: New from NW Washington
Hi Babadski, welcome on board.
I'm in a similar position, living on the fourth floor of an old (but nice!) apartmenthouse in the city. My garden takes place on the balcony.
Glad you found your way here.

I'm not sure how far you are from Ronda but she does her own butchering, raises organically and I'm sure you could work out something with her. Tell her the guy in kentucky who got her interested in raising pigs sent you.
