Huge Honor

The first weekend of August brings my High Priestess's and her DH's anniversary. They are celebrating 30 years this year. They have decided on renewing their vows, with a handfasting. Her daughter is going to be standing with her, and my hubby will be standing with him. My other coven mate and I were to be the ones to tie their hands together, but, I was told this weekend that I won't be involved in that. I was a bit disappointed until I was told that I am actually officiating. emoticon
My DH and my other coven mate will do the hand [sign in to see URL] get to actually perform the ceremony. She is writing it, and I've got part of it. As soon as I get the entire thing, I'm going to reprint it, in a larger font (ceremony is at [sign in to see URL] dark) so that I can see it, and I'm going to have it bound in a really nice binder and done up nice to present to them afterwards.
It's going to be a catered affair, complete with wedding cake, a bar, and finger foods. Self serve [sign in to see URL] many caterers work that [sign in to see URL].
She is going to be wearing a champagne colored dress, he will be in black dress pants and a cream colored Poet shirt. My DH will be in black dress pants and a white Poet shirt. I will be in all [sign in to see URL] black skirt that I found, and a top that goes very well with it. Not sure what my other coven mate will [sign in to see URL] hope it's not her [sign in to see URL] kind of tacky skirt/top with her red anklets and red converse tennis shoes.

I am just so honored that they asked me to officiate. They had originally told me that they were just going to say something to each other. Not sure what made them change their minds, but I am really glad that they did.

It was kind of [sign in to see URL] asked me if I realized that I am clergy, and I told [sign in to see URL], I know. If Wicca was a completely recognized religion, we could actually get clergy tags to use at hospitals and such. It tickles [sign in to see URL] is bad, I [sign in to see URL] my ex tried so hard to become a Christian preacher (clergy)....he couldn't cut it. And here I [sign in to see URL] found a religion I could be happy in and I AM clergy emoticon emoticon Guess we know now who was the better choice for clergy rotflmbo emoticon

[sign in to see URL] wanted to share this honor.

Actually check with your local county clerk since the USA military recognized Wicca as a religion many states do as well.

Many of them also recognize the World Christianship Ministries who will ordain you online go figure. I was ordained in 1997 so that I could help a friend with Reiki at the local hospital.

Now that same hospital has a wellness center and offers Reiki along with many other forms of less convectional healing practices.emoticon

Congrats on officiating, it sounds like it will be a great evening for all.

Re: Huge Honor

Firle, between knowing the great people here, and finally finding a place with other Witches near where I live, I have come alive. It's amazing to me just how much I've grown. Y'all all have a very strong hand in that growth, and for that, I thank you!!! emoticon emoticon

[sign in to see URL] hadn't thought about the county clerk's office. I may have to give them a call. I have to wonder, though, being in the Bible Belt just how far behind the times we are here. Can't hurt to ask though. They don't need a name unless they do recognize it.
That's great about that hospital, too. I think if more hospitals would do something like that, more people could get the help they really need. Sometimes, "modern" medicine isn't what a person [sign in to see URL] need something much more basic and life affirming.

I had thought about trying accupuncture for some pain relief. I called my insurance company to be sure they covered that kind of [sign in to see URL] NO, they don't. They said they don't cover any of the (their words) Ancient arts. [sign in to see URL] yeah, they ARE ancient arts, [sign in to see URL] it's not [sign in to see URL]'t flippin fix it. If it works, and it ends up costing them less, you'd think they'd be all for it. *sigh* oh well.

I've got to spend some time this week working on the bouquets. I think it's going to really be pretty. She picked silk hydrageas, and I'm going to see if I can find some small white flowers to [sign in to see URL] to give it a mild punch of color. She got a gold colored, wide wired ribbon to wrap around the stems. I'm going to get some pastel ribbons in some of the colors that are in the flowers, to just have hanging, and maybe do some loops within the flowers themselves. Not sure on the loopy things yet. Will have to play around with that.

DH and I will go right after breakfast the day before the ceremony and we'll all start getting things set up. We're going to have candles, literally, everywhere. They're going to put up several strands of little white lights, there will be heart shaped floating candles in the swimming pool, and in other various things around. Tiki poles in several places. We won't put the floating candles in the pool till the afternoon [sign in to see URL] we'll probably be in the pool off and on that Friday, and some that Saturday [sign in to see URL]. [sign in to see URL] the [sign in to see URL], we'll be doing some swimming.
A couple of the guests have young daughters, they're going to wear their Faerie wings, and we're going to have 2 of them scattering flower petals, and the other 2 blowing 'Faerie Dust'....just like flower girls in a regular [sign in to see URL] her son will be ringing a bell. It's up to me to get the girls together that evening, and the HPs little one was told he'd better listen to me and mind [sign in to see URL]. He promised her he would. He's such a cutie, but my gosh he's defiant. He knows his 'Aunt Becky' will whollup him though if he acts up too much. He's just turned [sign in to see URL], typical little boy.

We're going to have all of the food in a screened gazebo, then the cake will be in a seperate screened [sign in to see URL] bar, they are going to put in the pool house ( a small wood built cubby [sign in to see URL] the size of a bathroom.) All the pool toys are going to be put in a closed off basement room. There is a bathroom in the basement area (nice finished basement), so no one will have to go into the main part of the house upstairs.

I know I'm like a blathering idiot over [sign in to see URL] I'm excited for [sign in to see URL] it's just such a special thing. It doesn't hurt that this couple are like our very best friends.
We were all sitting around the patio table Sunday afternoon talking, and found out that as soon as they decided to do this my HPs hubby had no question as to who he was going to ask to stand with him. That made my DH feel really [sign in to see URL] doesn't make real friends [sign in to see URL] [sign in to see URL], true friends, [sign in to see URL] that made him feel really good.

[sign in to see URL]'m going to shut up now, cause I have company LOL.

Y'all have a Blessed day!!!

I don't mind your babbling at all, Saijen. *grins*

Sounds like a wonderful occasion that's shaping up here. And if you're interested in accupuncture ... remember that accupuncture thing without needles I told you about? emoticon

Have a great time!
