Poor Emily!
My little bottle baby, Emily, whose mother rejected her at birth, managed to break her leg tonight. Caught it in the hay rack as she was jumping down.
I've splinted and wrapped it, given her some aspirin and vitamins and put her in a large dog crate where she can rest undisturbed. I think she's loving the attention and the access to all the hay she can eat!
Could have been worse - she could have done it when I was away this weekend (drove 4 hours to deliver another goat kid!) or it could have been Emily's half-sister, who I just took a deposit for this morning.

Re: Poor Emily!
How do goats do with broken legs? Can they recover pretty easily with proper care? I hope so!!!! Good luck!

Re: Poor Emily!
From what I've been told, they heal up very well. She's certainly not slowing down any! I built her a little pen, with 4' walls and she's jumped out three times already - even though her half-brother and sister are in there with her! She is a little monkey.

Re: Poor Emily!
Well, jumping out of the pen sure sounds like she's going to be ok! I just had a limping chicken that I was afraid had broken her leg. Two legged animals don't seem to do so well with one leg out of comission. But she's finally recovered! I hope the best for Emily!
