I was at a witches' party yesterday

One of my friends invited me for her birthday party, together with more of her friends. Turned out, most of them are shamans or witches (and healers), so the afternoon turned into evening and then late night almost without me noticing how time flew as we talked and talked and talked.

We had great fun talking about spirits, angels, healing and just general witchy things. I had brought my brand new Tarot cards to show off (the Llewellyn set), and we did an angel card reading for everyone with an angel deck my friend owns and uses a lot. She had also asked for and got two more decks of cards (one chacra deck and one "plant helper" deck) which we took turns to look at.

We finally broke up at almost midnight, and I went home very content and thoughtful. Best evening in a long time!

Firle - that sounds like a really enjoyable evening.

Tell me about tarot cards - especially "angel cards" and cards for "garden"...

I didn't know there are different card sets for different things.

I do know that they are to be wrapped in natural fiber for the best keeping, cause I sent Saijen silk to wrap her's in.

Oh, there are plenty of very different card sets around here - and I'm sure you can get Angel Cards in the US as well. They work just like Tarot in that they have cards with different angels and different meanings one can use for a reading. The only difference is that people tend to accept angels more easily.

The plant helper card set is especially nifty, as it's independent of the method used in therapy, but one can give the client some dried herbs, incense or just essential oils with the scent they choose. That gives them more security when it comes to change.

Silk is the best for wrapping any magical items, because it really protects them. It was good to send Saijen some. emoticon

Unfortunately, I don't have a link that really shows the individual cards.

This is a link to the German Amazon page, as it's not on Amazon.com: Pflanzenhelfer

They work like this: There are 9 different gates (cards), and first one chooses a gate that seems fitting. Behind each gate, there are seven cards with plants, and one chooses the plant that seems right.

The scent of this plant helps the person who chose it, either as essential oil or as incense.

This set was created in German, and the text is important, as it tells you what the gate stands for, and what the plants do for you.

Tonight, I had another meeting with more healers (this time from our class), and the friend was there as well. She brought the plant cards, and each of us chose one gate and one plant.

Well ... I chose the "Gate of Power", and behind it, a plant called "Artimesia", one that helps to "maintain life". The picture showed a hooded person on a prairie. I was a little surprised, but then the booklet explained that this is no other than ... White Sage. I was somewhat overwhelmed, because it fits so well.

What a neat party, from the sounds of it.

Fenyx, I have a set of Angel cards that Dani and Julie gave me a few years ago. They're very pretty.
As for the plant ones, I've never heard of those...sounds really neat.
