There is a saying.......

that Christians have. I've often wondered what a Pagan counterpart would be......

The Christian saying is...
'If God brings you to it, He'll bring you throught it'

What are your thoughts about the Pagan side of this kind of thinking, and your thoughts on this phrase, in totality?

And if you're not sure what I'm asking...say so, cause I'm not sure I phrased any of this right lol

If you have the power to dream it then you have the power to achieve it.

What does not kill you makes you stronger.

With Karma comes life and lessons.

Good ones, Playful..and it's sure good to see you. Was gettin worried about ya!

I actually used that second one this past Friday while nurses were trying to get an IV started so I could get some pain relief injections in my spine. They were amazed at all the things I've had to deal with, and my response was "Well, what doesn't kill me only serves to make me stronger". They thought that was an odd way of looking at it...lol. To me, that's about as true as it can be.

To me, I think that whatever Deity we choose, if we are 'brought' to a place in our lives, we're brought there for a reason. A lesson to be learned, or a skill even, or even just to go through it so we can help someone else that's not as strong deal with the same issue somewhere down the road. I don't think things happen for no reason. We may not ever live long enough to know the exact reason some things happen to us, but there is always a reason.

I can remember thinking, not so long ago, about the Christian phrase...when I was still a Christian, and I thought....'If God were truly a God of passion, then why does he allow such nasty things to happen to the GOOD people on this earth?' and while I still wonder, to a point, about that, I still think there is a reason someone has to deal with the nasties life loves to throw at us. God or no God (Christian or otherwise), things are going to happen. It's not what is happening so much as how we choose to deal with it.

That's kind of my point, Nyquil.

I think I actually mentioned that, not in those words, in one of my replies. 'If God were truly a God of passion, then why does he allow such nasty things to happen to the GOOD people on this earth?'

One has to wonder! emoticon

Hehe.

That's one of the reasons why I have a hard time believing in a certain god. I'd rather believe in a life force - that's everywhere but doesn't make much of a difference between me as human and others around me, like trees or such. We're all part of life, and some eat, and some get eaten, that's the way of things. It's up to us to look out for ourselves, and not the job of a god - even though something seems to be around to help us if we ask. Although maybe we have to ask in the right way ...

Not really sure there, to be honest. I try to focus on what I want and dream of, and not on the lack of things - seems to help. It makes me happier, at any rate.

Re: There is a saying.......

This is one reason why I have to wonder about a "Loving God". Having grown up Christian, I've always wondered about that. Why would he allow some of the things to happen to the people that are doing their best to "follow" him as he's asked them to? Doesn't make sense....it's like he punishes them for doing what he told them to do. Such a controversy.

I think, that in this journey we call life, that the choices we make determines what happens to us along the way. Some choices are good, some we think are good, but aren't, and we reap the consequences....good or bad. So, we bring ourselves "to it"....thus, bringing ourselves " thru it"...perhaps with some divine intervention, and a lot of help from our family and friends.
