Making 18" doll clothes
I'm tired of doing quilt block swaps for a bit, so at this time I'm taking a break from doing any other sewing and making a dress or two for an 18" doll, Felicity from the American Girl collection. This is for me, and I've found something to do with it/them when I get it done and out of my system.
Does anyone else sew doll clothes? I mean, not too much fabric, and not too expensive if you want to emblish it - not like real people clothing.

Re: Making 18" doll clothes
Sounds like a lot of fun - do you think they'd even be sellable?
*knows very little about sewing and even less about dolls*

Firle -
they might be saleable, but using a commercial pattern and selling is called manufacturing and could get you a lawsuit if Simplicity, McCall's, Vogue, Butterrick decide to. I do have some from other sources that I could e-bay or something like that, and I can create my own pattern, which I may be doing shortly for the selling of the outfits.

Re: Making 18" doll clothes
What type of clothes are you making for her? Now type, or prairie type.....
You always were good at sewing...didn't matter the size of the project!!

Re: Making 18" doll clothes
This first one is Colonial outfit.
The others may be more modern.

Cool. You'll have to post some pictures when you get them done.

Re: Making 18" doll clothes
I love to sew.
I have made a few witchy outfits for some little cheap dolls I bought, just on a trail and make kind of deal, and I think they came out cute. I made besoms to go with the outfit also.

Re: Making 18" doll clothes
Hi LadyMoonKist -
Your doll clothes sound neat. You know there are dolls that are 'copy' dolls of the 18" American Girl dolls.
You might consider getting one of them (about $14) and using it for a dress dummy and then selling some of those 'witchy/pagan' outfits on e-bay or etsy. There must be Pagan's that want their children to have presents for Yule.

Re: Making 18" doll clothes
Neat idea, Fenyx!!
LadyMoonkist, the outfits sound really cute. And I think maybe Fenyx is on to something. With Yule right on us here, you may be able to sell quite a few outfits. Could maybe even post a link to where they can purchase the dolls or something.....
I wish I could sew better than I do. Fenxy (who is my cousin, by the way), has always had a knack for sewing....and she does an awesome job of it! One of my favorite pieces of clothing (it's not really clothing, persey) is the cape she made for me a few years ago. It's my winter cloak when I dress up to go out somewhere. Dang thing is WARM! There's a pic of it in here somewhere.
Fenyx..how'r the doll clothes coming, by the way???
