Raising Energy: How you do it and why?
In our coven, we have many ways to raise energy, depending on what works/ritual we are doing.
Many times, it's simply by dancing. Sometimes chanting, or chanting AND dancing. Sometimes it's by holding hands and doing an extreme meditation. Sometimes, we rub our hands together. So many variations, but they all work.
We raise energy to help us with the task at hand.
When we did the last 1st degree initiaion, we just danced in a circle while calling the magical name of the initiate before we brought her into circle. We raised such a strong amount of energy that when we stopped moving, I literally fell to my knees with the weight of the energy.
Raising energy is one of the main reasons we have to ground (another Topic for a later time)
I love making energy balls....simply rubbing my hands together to create a friction, then feeling the ball of energy I've created. This is a neat way to give someone a gift....make a ball, put all your good intentions inside with a thought, then toss it toward the receiver. All those wonderful intentions/thoughts will burst over them. Cool way to raise energy...lol.

I use to meditate, or just hold my hands a few inches apart. My favorite way was to stand out in a thunder storm and just absorb all that wonderful power. However, once I learned what raised energy felt like I can just tap into it now with little thought it seem natural to just let the energy flow through me to whom ever needs it. If that make any sense?? I like my crystal when actually doing energy work. My crystals are very much alive and helpful in channeling my energy.

Thanks for all those ideas, because I'm having a very, very hard time doing it.
At the moment, the only thing that works for me is to cast around and find a nexus of energy. Then I send out a feeler and tap into it, almost like a plant sending out a root.
It doesn't work very well, and I can't yet control the amount of energy I get.

Firle, you can always control the amount of energy, especially if you feel you're getting too much. Simply sit down, place the palms of your hands on the ground/floor and allow some of it to flow out. If you're not getting enough, close your eyes and do your best to visualize a solid stream of color coming into your body. It always helps me right now to see the energy as a color. Red if I need strong energy, light blue if I need healing energy,...you don't have to use these colors....use whatever colors you associate with the energy you're needing or sending out.;
The way you're doing it sounds like a good solid way to raise energy, but maybe you just need to add a little visualization to the mix and see where that takes you.
Keep at it...it will come!!
