Re: What spiritual thing did you do today?

I've started talking to trees again on my walks to work and back. I find myself most attracted to horse chestnut. I think I've lived in one as fairy, at least once, and they still ooze comfort and peace for me.

So yesterday I stopped and just sort of leaned and put my hand against the bark. emoticon

Re: What spiritual thing did you do today?

I LOVE it, Firle!

I enjoy talking to my trees. My husband thinks I'm [sign in to see URL] just doesn't understand.
A while back, he said he needed to trim some of the limbs off our maples, and I told him 'Not until I can explain to them what you're doing'. He told me I'd better get with the program [sign in to see URL], I talked to the older maple [sign in to see URL] understood and gave it's blessings. The younger maple was a bit reluctant, but finally agreed. DH hasn't gotten to the older one yet, but I know it's OK when he does, and it won't be held against us.
I also tend to water that tree a bit [sign in to see URL] Faerie garden and some bleeding hearts are under that tree, so it gets a bit more attention. I'll wash the trunk of the tree down when I water, and point the water up into the tree [sign in to see URL] I can almost hear it say "ahhhhhhhhhhhh" lol.
People think I'm sheer nuts, but, you know, I don't really care. I know I can hear the trees, and they can hear me. The ones who think I'm looney are the ones missing [sign in to see URL] me.
[sign in to see URL] on you, Firle, for just taking some time and 'hugging' that [sign in to see URL] if hugging isn't what took [sign in to see URL]'s virtually the same thing. emoticon

Re: What spiritual thing did you do today?

there are two trees I hug once a year. It's a ritual. They are HUGE. One feels male, one female.

I had a rough weekend, sort of a fallout with a relative. I meditated. I did feel the power of an animal (like a power animal) in me.

I've done nothing spiritual today yet! I'm working under deadline emoticon

Re: What spiritual thing did you do today?

Well I was really proud of myself for yesterday. With being so sick just getting out of the house has been impossible at times. But yesterday I managed to go outside and do a small full moon ritual, and I cut juniper, pine, cedar, eucalyptus, lavendar, rosemary and hung them on my porch to dry to make smudge sticks. I also took my potted chamomile down to my ritual area and did a meditation, discussion with the chamomile fairy and did some dowsing with it for it's properties. It was very eye opening and the plant was so happy! During the meditation, I was sitting with the plant in front of me and my head was leaning forward and a young deer came up near me. She couldn't figure out what I was and would walk away a couple of steps and then whirl back around to stare at me. She was there for probably close to 10 minutes before she snorted at me and finally left. emoticon

Now today I have to remember everything that I got and write it all down. I also managed to make my cajun chicken/ fett. alfredo for a celebration dinner for Midsummer's Eve for me and the hubby. Whew!

Now what can I do today?

Oh, I'm also proud of myself that I got a phone call late yesterday afternoon with the nonprofit art group. They wanted me to drop everything, search through my files for a few things, and then email files out and work on the updated membership lists. I said I would do it today, not last night because I was doing full moon and Midsummer's Eve and those were more important. I got an umm, ok, but we really need these. Well you'll have to wait. I think they were rather shocked that I wouldn't drop everything on the spot and do their bidding. It felt good to take care of myself and my priorities.

Exrta Kudos to you for saying it had to [sign in to see URL] there were more important things going on.!! emoticon

and how cool is [sign in to see URL] deer coming to check you out!!! Your ritual sounds so nice, I know it had to make you feel better, spiritually, and maybe even physically. I do miss our group rituals. I need to start at least doing things on my own. It's just kind of hard to know where to start when you're used to a [sign in to see URL].

Re: What spiritual thing did you do today?

Well, I haven't posted in this thread in a long time. And that's not because I just wasn't posting. It's because I have done absolutely nothing to enhance my "witchyness". Over the past few weeks, I've realized I have no idea where to go with this. I don't feel like I'm on a "path", I feel like I'm just standing around.

I think part of it is my non-deism. If there isn't a deity out there that I am aiming to please, then I'm only doing this for myself. And, unfortunately, sometimes, "yourself" comes last! But I really enjoy exploring paganism and I want to continue working within it.

I have become far more aware of my natural surroundings just in the past year since really realizing that I was a pagan. And I was already quite aware. So I am making a concerted effort to incorporate it in my life at least on a weekly basis.

To do this, I've put several books on hold at the library. They are currently being transfered from other branches and I will get to pick them up in a few days. I didn't do a lot of research on them - just picked ones that "seemed" like they would be interesting/helpful. These are the ones I'm getting first:

emoticon A witch's book of dreams : understanding the power of dreams & symbols (Karri Allrich)

emoticon Evolutionary witchcraft (T. Thorn Coyle)

emoticon Cottage witchery : natural magick for hearth and home (Ellen Dugan)

emoticon Earth magic [audio book] (Starhawk)

emoticon The pagan book of days : a guide to the festivals, traditions, and sacred days of the year (Nigel Pennick)

emoticon The pagan book of living and dying : practical rituals, prayers, blessings, and meditations on crossing over (Starhawk)

emoticon Pagan every day : finding the extraordinary in our ordinary lives (Barbara Ardinger)

I'm looking forward to getting them!

posticon Re: What spiritual thing did you do today?

Your talking about the library struck a major cord with me tonight. I have not been doing a lot of personal work lately, and have been depressed the past few months since I found out one of our best local shops closed. I admit I hadn't been there in a long time, and had "assumed" that it would always be there. Much to my dismay, I discovered it had closed a while back and the owner moved out of state. Well all I can say now is "PRAISE GODDESS" for the local Craigslist!!! I found a local person clearing out their library (or a good part of it anyway) and made arrangements to buy THE WHOLE THING!!! And in 3 easy payments of course via GOD/GODDESS finance! I am getting between 300 - 400 books, and only about 10 are dupes of books in my exsisting library! And I'm also getting about 12 decks of tarrot, and only 3 are dupes! (If I am remembering correctly.) Once I get everything in and gone thru, I will make the dupes available here. Probably just for postage and a donation. I should have everything in by August 1, and will post whats available by August Moon! I am so excited, I found this on a whim, and check daily now for other goodies!

Re: What spiritual thing did you do today?

Wow, Mystic, that's great! Congrats!

I did something I've rarely done: I did a Tarot spread, asking for help in a difficult situation. I sort of got the answer that I am where I am, and that I should listen to my inner voice and aim for wholeness.

Not easy. Even so, I'll put in more meditation.

Re: What spiritual thing did you do today?

Mystic, what a find! My personal library is only 10 or 15 books.

Firle, I've yet to do anything serious with tarot (besides playing around with them as a teenager). Do you feel like you were lead in the right direction? I'd be interested to find out if you think it helped when all is said and done in the situation.

One of these days I should give it a shot.

Re: What spiritual thing did you do today?

TM, right now, it's adding to my confusion - basically telling me nothing really new. It confirms where I am at the moment, but the only help it's giving me is to encourage me to meditate and find my very own wishes.

And that's not easy at all.
