Re: What are your beliefs about deities?

Its one thing I never had to work at. When I was a child, I had very vivid, detailed dreams. About 15 years ago or so, I started being able to control my dreams and know that I was dreaming. It has got stronger over the years to the point that I rarely lose control of them and always know that I'm dreaming. But its nothing I tried to do, it just came.

Re: What are your beliefs about deities?

I learned in my twenties, that such things were rare - I felt bad for all mankind after that - not being able to control dreams seems to me, to be horrifying. I have two kinds of dreams, both controlled - the one is ordering the subject, and learning from the dream. The other is accepting distant energies through my dreams. The Goddess figures often in that kind of dream.

I have found that being able to control dreams is a talent that often goes hand in hand with the ability to suggest dreams in others.

Re: What are your beliefs about deities?

Well, I thought I would jump in and see if I can coherently share my take on the subject. Do I believe in specific deities? In a word, no. But – I consider myself somewhat “agnostic”, but by that I mean that I really have no idea what the actual truth is. Anything is possible. For all I know, it is “God” and He (not she) is all about sending us to “Hell” if we don’t give our lives to Him. This could be what is really out there. With my whole being, I really don’t think so. It took me years to gather the courage to step away from it. Most people raised on it never do.

I think that all religions, even Pagan and Wiccan, have got it so right as well as so wrong. Whichever Gods or Goddesses people choose to believe in is simply the method in which explaining the “Great Mystery” works best for them. If whatever is actually out there is a conscious being, I am sure this entity is charmed by our attempts to personify it. As far as gender, I don’t think it is male or female. I think it is at once both and neither.

I think of it more as “the Universe” or “Energy” or even “the Force”. It is everywhere. In every person, every plant, every molecule of air, and in the spaces in between all that we can detect with our sense, this exists. It is neither good nor evil, but in how a person chooses to use it. This is how people can “manifest their destiny with focused intent”…something like as described in “The Secret”. It is also how dowsing rods can work, and how there can be sacred geometry and humankind’s intuitive response to sacred spaces.

Does this “Force” have a sense of consciousness? I would guess that it does and it does not. It is perhaps not self-aware in the way that people think of many God/Goddesses with a personality and a backstory and/or a need to be worshipped. I think it is possible that its awareness comes through experiencing all living things. By existing within and without a tree, a rock, a human, the Force becomes all-knowing and defined.

When do I feel this “Force”? For me, I can feel it when I am quiet and in observance of nature, particularly when I get the sense that I don’t know where I end and everything else begins. I can also feel it when I stumble upon a Universal Truth, which can be revealed anywhere at any time. It’s something that resonates and hums inside of me, and I know that I’ve been given a peek into the divine...true holiness and am aware of my place in it.

Wow, I read yours and our views are incredibly similar!! I loved reading all the different views! I wish I was here when this thread was still active. Yep, Paganism is very comfortable to me as well. I also seem to get along with Pantheist idea as well. I've been wondering what this is..this transcendentalist view on deities, where you don't subscribe to any of them, but see them all as different versions/aspects of the same thing, almost as though they all fit under some kind of umbrella? Is there a name for this umbrella?
