Re: Ramblings: Mabon - Samhain

Ugh, we really need a REAL bathtub. Both hubby and I are long bath takers but the one we have now is so shallow and short. It's hardly worth it! I have done some ritual baths in there last winter but my knees always got so cold sticking out of the water! Our master bath is the last room on the remodel list, so I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't start on it until next year. My mom however, has the BIGGEST tub. Oh...and so does the doublewide at the new farm...wow, I'm so glad you mentioned this! What a great opportunity that will be!

My dream is to have a tub that reheats and recirculates the water (but gently, not like a hot tub) so you can stay in there for a long time! emoticon Surely, they make those...

I'm unfamiliar with hyssop oil. I took a basic aromatherapy class, but it was really basic. I'll have to look around for some!

OH..I HATE those itty bitty tubs!! My ex and I used to live in a house that had one of the OLD claw foot tubs...it was sooo deep and wonderful to take a bath in. I loved that place, too. It was a 2 story duplex, we had one side, and we paid $50 a month rent there. There were 3 bedrooms and the bathroom upstairs, downstairs was a living room, formal diningroom and a HUGE kitchen. The actual living room, we used for a bedroom, and the diningroom we used for a livingroom. But that tub...man, I'd love to have another like that one. The one we have now I hate with a passion. The enamel has pretty much eroded off so I have to watch what I clean it with. We're tryin to talk the landlord into getting a new tub. I can sit up in there and have my legs covered, but if I slide down just a little, my knees do what yours do.
I don't know if they have a tub that recirculates the water to keep it warm or not.....that would be a neat thing to work on and become rich off of...hehehe.

I do wish I had a tub. But since we turned part of the kitchen into a bathroom, we put in just the bare essentials. That means I have to do with a shower.

Re: Ramblings: Mabon - Samhain

Well, things have been slow for me spiritually over the last few days. I've managed to take a little time to do some awareness exercises and meditations, but that's about it. This morning, I chose to open my senses on the way to work instead of listening to an audio book like I usually do. I was rewarded by seeing a Great Blue!

EDIT: I forgot the one thing that I did try to do! emoticon Yesterday, while cooking, I tried to do some kitchen magic. I sorta just made it all up and got plenty distracted so I don't think it will have much of an effect. But I plan on working on it more in the future. I want to infuse my food with good energies. I love cooking, so this shouldn't be hard to do, I just had 10 things going on yesterday with all the canning, cooking, laundry, etc! I've become so domestic! emoticon

Texas....I've never really infused my cooking...but I like the idea. What if...rather than having to come up with a whole lot of stuff to say, you make a chant that you can use..something simple, but that states what you wish to infuse into that meal. Make several, but stick with one for a little while. I find I work a lot better with some type of chant than if I try to focus too long on too much to say..even when I am doing a work.
Something like....
I cook this food for body and soul, I empower it with love, energy and light to make it whole.
Say it several times, as you stir something, or brown some meat. Just..anytime you're cutting up something, or at the stove...repeat your chant a few times...then go do whatever....come back to the stove...say your chant...etc. Much easier and harder to become totally distracted emoticon

Re: Ramblings: Mabon - Samhain

That's exactly what I was aiming for! I just hadn't come up with anything before hand. I feel a bit silly chanting anything or saying anything out loud. One of the reasons I tend to steer away from rituals and formal spells (nearly everything I do is folk/sympathetic magic stuff). But I'm really trying to expand!

So I didn't come up with anything first and just tried to make something up on the spot. But I get kinda wordsmithy with things like this and I was unable to come up with anything that I really liked (if the food picked up an anything, it was indecision!). I seem to want the "perfect" saying instead of just using something that says the right thing even if it's not the best construction in the English language! (my creative writing teachers have always hated me for being too picky by the way!) I'm going to work on some kind of chant before my next big cooking day. And I plan on choosing a particular spoon to use for my magical cooking.

That's a really nice idea. I did try to stir in Love once, but just repeated that word. I like a little poem much better.

Thanks! emoticon

Texas, I have always felt a bit silly myself saying things out loud. I NEVER did the things you're taught....like...looking in a mirror and saying to yourself...."You are beautiful" "You are good"....I just can't do it..lol.
And, it was very hard for me to break out of that when I joined a structured study group, that lead to joining a coven (the one that is no longer)....but, learn I did.
Sometimes, you don't have to say it out loud..mumble it into your pot, just loud enough for you to hear....or, start off just thinking that..and only that, then graduate to mumbling...then to saying it a bit louder. The Powers That Be hear even the thoughts...so you're covered, regardless. And you'll never have the 'perfect' chant..cause something always seems to niggle it's way in..lol. Just say what you truly feel...that is the most perfect chant there is.

I like your idea of setting aside a special spoon, too!!

I tried some more magical cooking the other day, but my mom called and we had one of those silly arguments that only mothers and daughters can get themselves in to. Image So the phone is going off the next time I give it a shot.

I woke up early yesterday morning to watch the sunrise from my garden. It was really wonderful and peaceful. Delilah, my kitty, sat on my lap and we just enjoyed the world for 30 or 40 minutes before starting our hectic day (mine was a day of working around the homestead and hers was a day of carefully choosing the best spots to take a nap).

Texas, your cat sounds like mine! ALL 3 of them!

This morning, DH and I sat out on the porch swing, with a cup of coffee, and our outside kitty, Skeeter came and laid down between us. DH and I talked some, and just enjoyed the rain that has been falling since around dawn, till the breeze just got too cool to sit out there anymore. Now, DH has gone back out to the swing, grabbed the blanket we keep out there, and he's snoring up a storm, while Skeeter is laying across DH's belly, sound asleep himself. It's a good day to just dig in and read or watch movies.
