Extraterrestrials
Do aliens exist?
Why do you think they do or don't?
If you believe aliens exist, do you think they have visited or tried to contact us?

Re: Extraterrestrials
I think they do. I'm not so arrogant to think we're the only beings that have been created.
I've seen too many oddities in the skies to think there aren't any 'aliens'. And, are they really the aliens, or are we?
It's hard to explain why I do believe. It's just like a deep down gut feeling that we're not alone in this universe. That there is other intelligent life somewhere out there, and they watch us, as we attempt to watch them, or look for them.

Re: Extraterrestrials
Ah, that's a good follow up question which you've already answered Saijen! I'm adding it to my first post.

Re: Extraterrestrials
There's a lot of space out there, and it would be truely odd is there weren't life out there, somewhere. Probably lots of it (there's an equation that is used to calculate the probability of extra terrestrial life, but I can't lay my hands on it right now. To make it really accurate, though, it does require the knowledge of some variables that we don't know yet).
As far as whether they've been HERE... Well, I keep an open mind, but I really don't think they have. Sure, there have been sightings and such, and I'd honestly really like to believe that the answer is yes, but there's been nothing solid enough for me to say "yes," although I'm willing to say "Uh... Maybe..."

Re: Extraterrestrials
I'm with Corbin in the question if they've been here or not. I don't know, but I'd like to think they have, and have not harmed anyone, such as movies and what-not would have a person believe they'd do. I think if they had been/are here, it's just for observation. But...who really knows??

Re: Extraterrestrials
I'm with de Corbin. Space is so huge, how could there not be life in another place? Humans cannot be so special, to be honest.
I've read a number of debates as to why we haven't been contacted by aliens just yet - plenty of reasons for this, all of them scientific.
I simply don't know. I could easily imagine some looking in and deciding to keep their hands off until we develop into a more ... civilized people, maybe. Just a gut feeling, I have nothing to back that up.

Re: Extraterrestrials
I once heard a theory from a very intelligent person. And actually, I shouldn't call it a theory really. He believes, wholly and completely in this. He says (and he knows this because "they" told him!) that we are but a mere experiment of the aliens. Homo sapiens developed on their own, but aliens created a spark that lead us to intelligence. They visit regularly - the whole Area 51 thing was real. Nearly all UFO sightings are real.
It was all very fascinating and I wish I could remember all of the details. I was so shocked that he was saying this and I had had a few glasses of wine with dinner, so it was all just a bit much. I tried to write down some notes afterwards so that I could remember everything. I should try and dig those up...

Re: Extraterrestrials
I, myself, have seen some unidentifiable objects flying around in the skies at night. My Mom and step-dad used to own a farm in South Tennessee, and you could lay on the hillside at night and watch some of the craziest movements of objects flying around up there I'd ever seen in my life. So, I'd have to say, without a doubt that there are UFOs out there. Not sure of what caliber (if they are true alien ships or some kind of extremely freakish earth based experiments)......but I know they were out there, and I lean more toward actual UFO/alien stuff than earth based experiments.

Re: Extraterrestrials
My dad and one of my coworkers have actually been on investigations to the Skinwalker Ranch - the site of the most supposed alien activity in the US (or the word?). My dad never saw anything funny, but my coworker claims to have. But he says a lot of things...
The ranch was the site of cattle mutilations, balls of light, poltergeist activity in the ranch house, landscapes shifting, crop circles, etc. I thought I had a picture of the wormhole above the house on my computer (seriously - I think it was an IR shot) but I can't find it. I'll post if I do.
