Hello
Hi, I followed a link in madness's sig over at HT, like a few others I see. I mostly lurk over there, very rarely do I post anything.
I was raised with no real religion, one parent is an atheist and the other is agnostic. I think this has allowed me to freely find my own way.
I have been homesteading my 20 acres in central missouri for 3 years now. I have a handful of chickens and some dairy goats. I have a small garden and plans for an orchard. I also home school my three children, 6, 11, & 15.
Thanks for the link
T

Re: Hello
Hello T, welcome on board!
Glad you found your way here. I'm simiar, my family is not spritual at all. I'm rather happy with my path, even though it leads me into uncharted territory.
Anyway, welcome! I'm looking forward to your posts.

Re: Hello
Hi T and welcome to our cozy side of the internet (even though it doesn't feel like the internet here )
I'm glad that you followed TM's link to our board, and I look forward to hearing more about your homestead and the good things you're doing there. Grab a vacant chair, a nice cozy blanket out of the blanket basket over there ---> and join in the conversations.

Re: Hello
hello, Tick & All
I used to be an active member of many forums of runboard, but I have not been active for the past 2 years. When I finally made my way back, I found some forums I loved have disappeared, I found this forum thorugh runboard search engine.
it's fantastic to meet you all.
I have been a Metropolitan Bebe for my entire life. Just a few days ago, I was thinking how great it would be if I could stay on a farm or ranch for a few months, where I could breath fresh air, clear my head, climb apple trees and watch chicken lay eggs. lol so, T, I envy you the ranch.

Re: Hello
Howdy, Hesilly, I'm glad to make your aquantance!
That's the way it starts all right - you want a little air, a little elbow room, and the next thing you know, you're surrounded by chickens .
Just thinking about it, even if you don't do it, is a pleasure!

Re: Hello
Isnt it great that Eggs are free to pick and chickens wont protest?
here in NYC, eggs are $2.59 per dozen, but if they are BROWN eggs, the price goes up much much more!

Re: Hello
I sell my extra eggs for $2 a dozen, they almost pay their own feed bill.
Right now I have no extras though, I'm only getting two or three eggs a day from about 20 hens. It's molting season right now plus it's getting cold too, so a lot of the girls stopped laying.
I do enjoy having chickens. I could waste a lot of time just watching them do their chicken thing.

Re: Hello
Hey there Hesilly and welcome to the Porch.
You're not the only one here who has dreams of being on a ranch or farm. Several here are homestead wanna-be's (like me in a sense). I live on a working hobby cattle farm (not ours)but it's just not the same. I want chickens too!! LOL. I LOVE fresh eggs. Duck eggs are the best to bake with, though!!
Anyway...glad you found your way here and that you joined our happy little (but growing) group. Grab any empty chair you see, pull it into the circle....there are blankets in the blanket basket to wrap around you ... and join in the conversations!
