Hello from Utah

Hi.

I followed Saijin Silverwolf over from Studio of Secrets. I'm new to these boards... I haven't looked at the directory yet. I've pretty much stuck with one message board for a while and was thinking it was time to explore again when de Corbin wandered through and I found here. Careful what you ask for, right? This looks like it could eat up a LOT of my time... emoticon

From what I've seen so far most of the people here are homsteaders/farmers/rancher types, right?

I'm pretty much a suburbs-girl who wishes she wasn't. I've always been fascinated by being fairly self relient and making and growing things yourself. A lot of my family leans that way, so I'm not completely unexposed to what it takes to butcher a cow or haul your own water, chop wood for heat and cooking and dig the new outhouse pit.

I'm a traditionalist. Not Wicca, but of a path with a good gloss of it. I do work with a coven, but one that is on indeterminant hiatus (so I'm kinda in a weird place as far as that goes-neither really coven or solitary.) I am a bibliophile. I adore books and have a hard time getting rid of any that cross my path... even poorly written ones. I'm working on getting to a point where I can live off my art. I am owned by two cats (who are glaring at me because I am not paying them enough attention.

Re: Hello from Utah

Welcome Debbrah, I'm Saijen's cousin and hang around here.

I'm in the country that is becoming more citified - subdivisions and Publix supermarkets and banks getting closer.

This is a friendly smallish board, big enough for interesting, small enough for cozy friends.

I'm owned by one big long haired cat, and I work in an office cubical (yuck, but glad to have the income).

Welcome, and I'm off to the cubical.

Wow, new members are popping up all over! emoticon Welcome, Debrah.

I live in SW Ontario, right next door to Six Nations Indian Reserve, with creeks out front and back - so we ain't never going to get any more developed than we are. emoticon

We moved out here onto 10 acres, almost three years ago now. We have horses, goats (dairy, meat and miniature), ducks, geese, chickens, rabbits and one lamb - as well as cats, dogs and puppies! I work on a mink farm (stinky weasels).

I would have to say I have Pagan leanings, but don't follow any particular path.

Hi Debbrah,

welcome on board! Glad you found your way over here.

I live in the city and enjoy being able to walk almost everywhere. Yet I miss being able to garden more, so this may change eventually.

Welcome Debbrah! I'm also in the suburbs but was lucky enough to find a very unique subdivision where most people have fairly large lots. I have two lots so it's just over an acre. I have chickens, bees and a big garden. Other folks in my neighborhood also have chickens and goats. But then there are the neighbors that think us "hillbillies" should be gotten rid of! Never a dull moment!

Whereabouts in Utah are you? My mom's family lives in Salt Lake City and nearby suburbs (Murray and Sandy).

Hi and Welcome, Debborah. I'm honored that you followed me here. This board, you'll find, is very friendly and we do our best to be helpful to each other in all manner of ways.

My DH and I rent a small farm house on just a bit over 100 acres, but our animal population at the moment is restricted to our 3 cats, 2 dogs and our wolf/dog. The landlord raises cattle, and DH helps with that when he's not working his regular job.
We have a large garden every year, and we do a great deal of canning. Our meat of choice is venison, chicken and fish, none of which we raise. I'd love to have some chickens, and we may eventually (the landlord wants chickens too).
Even though we live on such a large place, we are only about 10 minutes from town. I love that I can get pretty much anything I need or want here in town, without having to drive forever.

As far as religious aspects of life here...I'm not totally sure where things are. I was solitary, then went into a coven that was disolved last fall, so am basically back to being solitary despite the fact that my HPS and HP are mine and DH's best friends and we spend a lot of time with them. I'm trying to find my place again, so don't feel like you're alone there.
The only thing we require out of our members is that they enjoy the board. No one has to be Pagan or a Homesteader to be a member here, so don't fret over that either emoticon

I really look forward to your posts here and getting to know you better......learning from you and helping you if I'm able.

Re: Hello from Utah

Thanks all for the warm greetings.

TexasMadness, I'm in West Valley. It's in the general area of Salt Lake... southwest of downtown proper, west of Murray.

I look forward to exploring and seeing what I can learn from all of you (and hopefully will say a few things of some use.)

So!

We meet again!

Hey DebbrahF, I'm glad you followed Saijen over - this is a great place.

I'm up in Northern Michigan, with almost 30 acres, but it's mostly all wooded. I do have a big garden, although my major crop is weeds (that's "weeds," not "weed." I just wanted to clarify that...).

Be careful, 'cause these guys will be talking you into building a barn out of egg cartons before you know it... emoticon
