And this one I may have to drop. I hate how it makes me feel.....sleepy and antsy at the same time. It does a number on me. Unfortunately, there's nothing else that works on this disorder. I may just have to see what I can come up with. Firle, yes, that's exactly the problem that this pill can cause. It doesn't do everyone this way, so there is a chance that, if I stay on it, I won't have to worry about it. I'm really not sure what else I can try. There is another pill, but my insurance won't pay for it because it would come out of Canada and it's over $500 a month for a month's supply. It would be a pain to get someone in Canada to get the medication for me, then ship it to me, etc, etc, etc. I can't even remember what it was called. (bad case of CRS....lol) As for the rest of things...I found out Friday that I may be in for a new sleep machine. I am on a regular CPAP right now, but I may be getting what is called an A-PAP. It is fully digital and can adjust the strength of the air flow all through the night according to what your body needs. If I am home Wednesday, the gentleman who handles my breathing equipment will come over and we'll see what we need to do. My CPAP can't do what my doc wants done. I'm not complaining!! I can use the same mask I have now with the new machine. AND, the new one is quieter, I've heard. My BiL just got one of these new A-PAPs 2 weeks ago and he loves it. He said it's much quieter, and that's saying a lot cause my CPAP is pretty quiet. Ok....tomorrow is surgery day, so there will not be any posts from me probably for a day or 2. I am hoping that Fenyx will update everyone when she's able. I got some good news yesterday. My best friend's daughter will be in the operating room with me. She is an O.R. tech at this hospital, and she's requested my case, so that made me feel really good knowing there will be someone I know and trust in the room with me. I have to be at the hospital at 5:50 in the morning, surgery should start around 7:30. I have no clue how long this surgery is supposed to last, but I figure no more than an hour and a half, if that. My DH will be making the calls after surgery, and my Dad will be letting Fenyx know by e-mail, so it may be a bit before she posts anything. My DH has taken this week off from work, so I will have him around to help me out and do the things I can't. That will help a lot. And, if need be, he can go get my SiL and she can do a few things around the house for me. But...he's pretty adept at doing things without any help. Ok....I need to go finish getting some things packed, so, I'll see y'all as soon as I am able to sit here, or in the recliner with the computer!!! Everyone take it easy....muladzh, you and the Frog please be safe on your journey back home. Firle..I hope your license comes this week!! Texas, I hope when I get back that you have hired a new farm person. Fenyx...keep on sewing...I hope that's what has been keeping you from posting as much. pooks....give those goaties a big hug for me....love those guys!! Corbin...MUCH good luck on your Etsy shop...maybe you'll sell a LOT in the few days I'm away from the computer . Cat, I hope things are settling down some around you!! For those I didn't name personally..... Everyone....just take care, and please be safe with this swine flu mess going around. I hope all are safe, healthy and in good spirits when I get back!!   nondisclosed_email@example.com (Saijen SilverWolf)Tue, 05 May 2009 01:04:30 +0000 Re: Todayhttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p230817,from=rss#post230817https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p230817,from=rss#post230817Oh boy, certainly not the direction you were hoping to go in. The side effects of Reglan sound as if it's a low-level antipsychotic - they create these twitches that won't go away. They are called dyskinesia. I keep wondering if you shouldn't try something else entirely, but I'm at a bit of a loss. After all, I'm not a medic, so I can't give any advice that would be on the same level. Hope you'll find a way. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Firlefanz)Sun, 03 May 2009 17:44:29 +0000 Re: Todayhttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p230800,from=rss#post230800https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p230800,from=rss#post230800Texas, the only treatment currently for the gastro mess is.......you guessed it..another pill! And I HATE this pill. It really does a number on me..making me very sleepy (as if I needed any help there!). If it continues to do this, I'll have to figure something else out. The sleep study results: During the night-time studyNO medication was used for this part of the study) they had to ramp my air pressure up to 17 (I'm at 14 regularly). This has resulted in the strong possibility of me getting a new contraption called an A-PAP. It's digital and self adjusts the pressure all through the night to whatever is needed. The guy who handles my equipment will call me on Wednesday afterI get home from the hospital to see about getting me set up. During the day-time studyNO medication was used for this part of the study) They woke me at 6am, I got breakfast ordered and it was delivered around 7. At 8 they had me lay down to see if I fell sleep. I was asleep in approx. 1 minute and 15 seconds. They woke me up at 8:20. I read for a bit. Had to lay down again at 10am. I was asleep in approx. 3 minutes. Was woke up at 10:20. Read some more, watched some TV. Layed back down at noon...fell asleep in approx, 1 minute. Was woke at 12:20. Lunch was around 1, then had to lay down again at 2pm. Again, I fell asleep in about 1 minute. One of the things they were looking for was to see if I went into REM sleep, which I did not. That's a good thing....it would have indicated Narcoplepsy. As it stands right now, my pulmonologist says I have some kind of daytime sleep disorder that she feels is NOT related to any of my medications. I had not thought about it, but we had talked about me and this issue before I went on any of the meds that I'm on now...so, it's something in my body/make-up. She can give me....yep....another pill, but it's one I may not be able to do, depending on the insurance. It's a stimulant, and it's a lot like methamphedamine, but without the nasty side effects. It CAN be addictive, but not everyone become addicted. If the insurance won't pay for it, there is no way I can take it, as 30 pills is over $330 a month. The only way I can find out if our insurance will cover it is for her to give me a prescription for it and let the pharmacy run it. So..I shall see. The pill is called Provigil. I'm trying to get AWAY from pills, and it seems thats all I am getting.... The pill for my digestive disorder also has a possible nasty side effect. The pill is Reglan, and it can cause involuntary muscle movement, and smacking of the lips. There is actually a legal ad on TV right now about Reglan. Once the muscle movement starts, it doesn't go away if you stop the medication.....but Reglan is the only medication for this disorder. Oh yeah, fun! I'm keeping fingers crossed that I don't get this particular side effect. On the subject of the surgery....I tend to get violently ill while coming out of anesthesia, so, the Anesthesiologist gave me a prescription for one pill to take the morning of my surgery, and they are going to put some kind of thing behind my ear, and add pepcid and reglan to my IV to help me keep from getting sick. I sure hope that all works...LOL. Nothing like getting sick after having your belly cut open! OUCH!!! This may sound really weird, but I am looking forward to this surgery. Maybe because I'm hoping it will help with some pain I've been having that I had no idea was caused by anything. I just thought it was muscle cramps. I also think, for some reason, that it will help with several other of the problems I've been having. I'm not sure why I think that.....but it's there. Ok...I'll shut up now! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Saijen SilverWolf)Sat, 02 May 2009 03:57:19 +0000 Re: Todayhttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p230774,from=rss#post230774https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p230774,from=rss#post230774Is there a treatment plan for the gastro stuff?nondisclosed_email@example.com (TexasMadness)Thu, 30 Apr 2009 22:08:50 +0000 Re: Todayhttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p230744,from=rss#post230744https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p230744,from=rss#post230744Thank you all. Some more information, finally. We got the results back from the Gastro Emptying study that was done about a week and a half ago, and my digestive system does not process food properly....so, that is what has been making me sick, presumably. What happens, apparently, food takes too long to go the right way, so, it comes back the way it went in. I see my pulmonologist on Thursday to get the results of my double sleep study. Not sure what to expect there. Surgery date has been changed to May 5th. I found out he doesn't DO surgery on Fridays..lol..just on Tuesdays. Not sure what he was thinking. Doesn't matter. It's going to get done. I was told that I will be in the hospital just overnight...23 hour observation, barring any problems. I don't foresee any. Pretty simple surgery, from what I'm hearing. I had the endoscopy/colonoscopy today, and that went very well. She removed one small polyp from my colon, which was otherwise fine. She did a biopsy of an area of my stomach that she said was red/inflamed, so I'll get that result in about a week or so. Again, otherwise, all was well. I don't need another colonoscopy for 5 years, and no endoscopies unless my throat constricts. She did not have to stretch my throat this go-round, so not sure what the swallowing deal was unless it was/is just nerves. SO....still no answer as to what has been making me so sick, BUT, I've not had anymore episodes of being sick since I took the medication for the E.coli infection...which we're pretty sure now that I didn't have. So.... I AM going to talk to the lady that does my med management for my bi-polar to see if we can stop one of the meds I'm taking, as I think that may be the biggest culprit. And...on I go nondisclosed_email@example.com (Saijen SilverWolf)Sat, 25 Apr 2009 04:45:24 +0000 Re: Todayhttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p230688,from=rss#post230688https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p230688,from=rss#post230688Oh man! I'm doing that, and then some...lol. My poor body is going to look a bit contorted by the time I get the information I'm waiting on hehe...I guess it's a good thing I'm not afraid of being cut on. To be honest, what bugs me the most is them having to put the IV in. I have HORRIBLE veins. Is that bad, or what? LOL. A good day today.....I saw my pain doc. We are now settled into a routine of me seeing him every 3 months unless I need to see him sooner. I had to tell him about the surgery, and that they will have to give me pain meds, and he said that as long as I let his office know what they are giving me, I won't violate the 'contract' I have with his office and all will be OK. So that was a good thing. It was a good day to be out and about....sunny, with a good stiff breeze that was a tad on the cool side, but very nice, none-the-less. I had several errands to run, and I decided to take back roads to avoid the traffic lights on Main, and I saw so many pretty flowers in people's yards. I'm really glad I went a different way today. Tomorrow is 'prep' day for Friday's doings. I'll be home all day tomorrow. I'll probably finish up laundry, and who knows what else I may get into. Because of the size of the mass, they are going to have to open me up. I'll be in the hospital for 2-3 days, and depending on some lab work taken yesterday, the surgery will most likely be on May 1st. I can't remember what the blood work is called that he did yesterday, but it is to determine the probability of this mass being cancerous. I asked him if it wouldn't have shown up in all of the labs I've had done so far, and he told me no. So, if the level is over 200, I most likely have cancer. If it's under 200, it's most likely benign. I should find out one way or the other by tomorrow. Hopefully today. If it's over 200, I'll have to see a cancer gynocologist to have this removed, if it's under, the doctor I saw yesterday can do it. I don't FEEL that there is anything negative with this....that it's just simply some type of cyst that needs to come out. I'm hanging on to that. As I get information and am able to post it, I'll do so. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Saijen SilverWolf)Wed, 22 Apr 2009 16:09:51 +0000 Re: Todayhttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p230656,from=rss#post230656https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p230656,from=rss#post230656Wow, interesting about the sleep study. The biggest curiosity thing is.....I wonder if this is what has been making me sick? I'll just have to ask and see what he thinks I got some of my lab results back this morning and all is normal. Did they by any chance remove any polyps from your esophagus or any other area while they were in there? That could explain some of the soreness. If not, it may just be because it was the first time you've had it done, and you're just a tender lil thang. I do hope you're feeling better. It's not fun trying to eat when it feels like someone's been skating in your throat with sandpaper skates on. I also hope the rest of your family is doing much better!! Well, I went for the sleep study and they had to add pressure to the CPAP during the night. The highest pressure mine is set for is 14, and that's pretty high...they had to push it up to 17. I was woke up at 6am to start the daytime study. The daytime study....I was given breakfast at about 7am, then I had to lay down at 8am to see if I went to sleep. I was asleep in approx. 1 minute. I did NOT go into REM sleep during any of the naps, however....so I don't have narcolepsy. They woke me up at 8:20, the I had to lay down again at 10. Second time it took me about 3 minutes to fall asleep. Awoke at 10:20, then had to lay back down at noon. Awoke, ate lunch, then at 2 had to lay down. Each of those times it took me just a bit longer than a minute to fall asleep. Since I did not go into REM sleep, they stopped the test at 2. I don't know what anything means at this point....the being able to fall asleep so quickly and all. I should find something out by next week. After I left there, DH and I went to get something to eat, and while we were eating my FNP called to tell me that the ultrasound they did of the mass in my abdomen showed it was larger than the CT scan showed. It's approx. 10.9 cm. The FNP says it has to come out, so I'm looking at a hopefully minor surgery. I called my best friend's daughter (she's an OR Tech) to ask who she'd reccomend for a surgical gynocologist, and she gave me a few names...so, I'll call my FNP Monday and give her those names. The daughter said this type surgery is generally laproscopic and day surgery so it's relatively easy to deal with....thank goodness. No idea yet when that will take place. I'll keep y'all informed.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Saijen SilverWolf)Sat, 18 Apr 2009 20:05:52 +0000 Re: Todayhttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p230603,from=rss#post230603https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p230603,from=rss#post230603Saijen SilverWolf wrote: I have esophageal spasms that make my throat close up and they have to do the balloon thingy.
