The last 2 days haven't been as humid, so it's been rather bearable, despite the temps. I can handle the heat, it's just the heat with high humidity that I can't deal with. At least most days we get a nice breeze blowing here, which helps. When it's really bad, DH has his hammock and I have my hammock chair under the big maple, and we just laze around till it gets a bit cooler. I can see now why siesta time happens in many very southern places. It's just too dang hot to do anything in the middle of the day. muladzh, we've also been under a lot of tornado watches and warnings, and even some flood warnings. Where our house is, we don't have to worry about getting flooded, but we're not very far from the river, and it could easily flood. Even with the creeks and ponds here, we don't have to worry..the house sits on top of a pretty decent hill. Fenyx, I hear ya. DH put the tiny window a/c in the computer room for me last year, but I think I only used it 2 days out of the entire summer. I'm going to do my best to stick it out this year and not have him put it in at all. It's almost gotten to where I about freeze when I go into anyplace that's airconditioned...lol. I rarely even use the a/c on the car. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Saijen SilverWolf)Fri, 26 Jun 2009 20:45:56 +0000 Re: Mercy Me......https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p231720,from=rss#post231720https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p231720,from=rss#post231720Saijen - this is the time and temp of year that makes working in an air conditioned cubicle not as bad as early spring or later in the fall...... Hope everyone can find a cool spot and stay healthy concerning the heat... Not sure what the forecast is. I kinda like not watching the weather anymore. I'm trying to use my senses more and see if I can tell what's a-brewin'. The Monarch laughed last night when I said I thought it might rain (he does watch the news) but was shocked to see the cloud cover this morning! Nice and shiny now. No rain in sight. Hot and muggy...like usual...nondisclosed_email@example.com (TexasMadness)Fri, 19 Jun 2009 23:28:34 +0000 Re: Mercy Me......https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p231712,from=rss#post231712https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p231712,from=rss#post231712we are suffering high humidity cloudy days with severe storms rolling through, tornado watches and heavy rain with hail.. not good for my equanimity, the seedlings, or the locale - still under flood warnings, with the highest flood levels recorded. Luckily we are not in the way of any flood waters, but it too darn wet. nondisclosed_email@example.com (muladzh)Fri, 19 Jun 2009 22:49:16 +0000 Mercy Me......https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p231710,from=rss#post231710https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p231710,from=rss#post231710This is the first day in 4 days that we've not had a nasty storm roll through here. We're getting some much needed rain, but not a good soaking rain like we really need. DH and I spent a good 30 minutes picking up branches out of the yard so we can mow either later today or early tomorrow (before it gets too hot). One guy a couple of towns over lost 15 trees in his yard. That's a lot. Power here was on and off and on and off yesterday, and the wind was awful. I've had the computer unplugged for the last 2 days. Today, the temps aren't too bad, but the humidity is awful. Took a while for clothes I had hung out to dry. Without any breeze, you are just miserably hot and sweaty. I'm on the front porch, and the fan in my bedroom window I turned around so it would blow out the window to where I'm sitting. It helps. for those in hotter, more humid climates...stay as cool as you can. For those of you in cooler climates....all I can say to y'all is.... nondisclosed_email@example.com (Saijen SilverWolf)Fri, 19 Jun 2009 22:23:32 +0000
