Re: Animal Experimentation

Queeny, she actually got started on a natural HRT before she was into full blown menopause, so she didn't suffer this. My problem is, even though I'm also on a natural HRT, mine had already set in, so it's not taking care of the problem LOL. And she's a diva.....very much a 'girly girl' so things like that tend to bug her. She's in her mid 50's...I think she's coming up on her either 54th or 55th birthday next month, and she does have a little of the peach fuzz on her face and arms and such, but she's never had to deal with the pricklies like you and I have.

Muladzh, I agree. It doesn't gross me out, it's just been so forcefully ingrained in me that it's not acceptable to have hairy legs and underarms. I've been told since I started getting hairs in my 'pits' that it was unsanitary ( if it's so unsanitary for women, why isn't it so unsanitary for men, I've often wondered). My mother tried to keep me from shaving my legs until I was older than I was, but I pushed, because it was the cool thing...to have nice shaved legs and wear pantyhose to school. I was 12. Mom finally gave in when Fenyx got married....I was the guest book keeper for her wedding, and she helped me talk my Mom into allowing me to shave my legs so I could wear pantyhose and look more grown up. Was just one of those things, I guess.

Oh geez...girly girl! emoticon Wait till she starts with the back of the arms "wings" and the "boobs to the knees" happening! I love watching people grow old who hate it... emoticon
Every time I see my Mom, she always comments on how few wrinkles I have compared to her ( she is almost 70) but I say it's because I'm carrying fat and she is skinny....I "fill out" my skin! emoticon
I had to have a complete hysterectomy about 6 years ago...they took EVERYTHING out and because of both heart disease and cancer in my family....I'm going it completely HRT free.. emoticon So I have to occasionally tell Hubby.."Your getting on my LAST hormone!" emoticon

I'm like you as far as the shaving and stuff. I could care less.....I personally if I did not know anyone.....I would NOT shave nor would I wear a bra and I'd go back to the 70's hippy long skirts, big overblouse look. But I worry that I may embarrass my husband and I just don't want to have to listen to my MOM and DAD and SISTER give me !@#$...
So, until they are all gone......I'll give into that "peer pressure".. emoticon

Re: Animal Experimentation

Oh...the arm wings and droopin boobs had already hit, but she's got that under control too! She and her DH bought a 'Total Gym' and use it religiously. It's done a great job on getting rid of her 'wings' and her boobs are perkier than a lot of 30something women. And now, she and her family do TaiKwanDo at least 3 nights a week. She is a full time nurse, so she gets up around 4:30 every morning for a workout on the Total Gym, showers, eats breakfast and heads to work. Comes in and either gets dressed for TaiKwanDo, or cooks supper. On Friday's, they have TKD sparring...fight night they call it...She's extremely active, and she's lost probably close to 20 pounds this spring-summer and is down to about a size 8 or so now.

I have the long skirts and in the summer, I actually wear tops that have the built in shelf bras with those skirts. I didn't wear any of those this year....but I still have them. Speakin of the hippy days....this same friend's b'day is Oct 30, and we usually have a costume party. I was thinking of going as a hippy. I have a long wig, the right kind of skirts, a flowered circlet to wear on my head and I'm sure I could come up with some love beads! LOL.
DH and I could both go as hippies....ohh...yeah......we already have a good bit of what we'd need.... emoticon

Oh I hate people like that..... emoticon Hate in a good way......mostly I envy them!
Before I hurt my back I was a cross country runner and track and field athlete. Looking at a scholarship and had dreams of the Olympics! (not sure I'd have ever made the team...but back then I could dream...)
Now the furthest I run is to the bathroom on a bad day! emoticon

And I think you SHOULD go as hippies....check out the 2nd hand stores for old costume jewelry and love beads...I mean the PEACE symbol is back in vogue now... emoticon

OH and I want pictures! emoticon

If this is too risque or against the TOS just delete it...This is how I practice for my mammograms now..

ROTFLMAO!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon
OMG..I love the cartoon!!!! Yeah, that about sums it up!!! emoticon emoticon

Yeah, she is one of those who doesn't have any real health issues, so she's more than able to do all of this.
Before my back problems, I was a volunteer firefighter, professional puppeteer, and was pretty active. Now, like you, the most running I do is to the bathroom!!

Oh yea....getting older does give you a bit more freedom. People just chalk things up to being a bit senile or whatever, so you can get away with SOooooo much more!!!! even my Mom says this....LOL.
Maxine (the cartoon character) is one of my heros.....I love her bluntness.
