Happy Samhain

I wanted to wish everyone a happy Samhain, the final harvest. We began celebrating last night we carved pumpkins, watched Charlie Brown, and ate some "spooky" desert. We went outside to see the pumpkins all lit up and had a great time startling each other. With small children this basicaly consisted of walking through the dark and soeone jumping out and roaring at you. It was all great fun.

I love carving pumpkins there is justsomething so rustically magical about it. I carved a wonderful whimsical pumpkin and I will be posting a pic of it tomarrow morning. I thought it would be great to ask everyone here to share a pic of a pumpkin they carved as well.

Re: Happy Samhain

It's funny how today, I celebrate the end of one part of my life and start looking forward to the next one. It's my first day where I'm completely on my own.

(My husband moved out two days ago.)

Right now, I'm very much aware of the season, of the bountiful life that was, but also the end of that life. Winter comes, a time of retreat and rest, and then, next year, a new growth will begin.

No pumpkin for me, though. emoticon

Hehehe. On the "last harvest", I was busy planting seeds in the garden! I really need to finish my Texas Pagan Calendar with names for things that reflect what we are actually doing this time of year! :P

We didn't carve pumpkins! emoticon We planned to - there are pumpkins from the garden ALL over the house! But we worked until sundown, ate dinner and then just drifted off to bed! We did carve this last year:

Oh Firlefanz, I hope this New Year will bring you much joy. What a melancholic way for it to begin. I have found so much comradely in this site, I hope I can contribute to the unity that this group has.

The Circle of Seekers celebrated with an Ancestral table filled with pictures and candles. Meditation , feast and companionship followed. There were sixteen in circle on Samhain night.

Re: Happy Samhain

Zephra, your Samhain sounds lovely.

I was just impressed how the circle of the seasons fits my life right now. I'm not even terribly sad, we're separating without a nasty fight. A lady (I tend to call her catalyst, because she facilitated change without changing herself) helped us realize that our mutual path was at an end and we have to set each other free to keep growing. We're in this process. It is sometimes painful, but mostly there is more peace and balance in my life now.

Got the first snowflakes in the rain this morning. emoticon
