Redecorating my office
I'm claiming the room that used to be my husbands office and guest room, and turning it into my room. The guest bed stays as it's inside a dais we put in when friends were still living here.
At any rate, the room needs a lot of repair, it's been about 10 years since we painted it, and there has been considerable wear and tear.
Yesterday, I stuck some patches of wallpaper on the worst tears, and today, I gave them a first coat of paint, so they won't stick out too much when I paint the whole wall. Forgot to take pictures of the patch job (sorry), but I'll take more as the color scheme takes shape. So far, however, I'm doing only the white parts, and I'm scared of painting the ceiling. That'll literally be a pain, in my arms.

Re: Redecorating my office
Congrats on getting the room going! I think everyone hates painting ceilings. I met my now-husband right at the time I was painting all the rooms in the back of my house. I knew he was a keeper when he managed to paint all the ceilings without complaining one bit! Now he isn't so quiet about the annoying chores I ask him to do...it was fun while it lasted!

Re: Redecorating my office
I got quite a bit done, although today is not a good day. The ceiling is a quarter done, one wall is finished, a second is about a quarter done. I will only tackle the remaining two walls after getting yellow paint (seem I can get it mixed at the hardware store), and moving some furniture. At least I managed to get plastic sheets today. I also acquired a stencil thingie I might use on a strange square edge in the room (it holds old oven flues). I thought I might as well turn it into something special as it's already there.
Sadly, I'm having a headache now, which doesn't do anything for finding energy to paint. Guess it'll wait until tomorrow.

Re: Redecorating my office
Finally some pics!
This is how it looked after my first wallpaper repairs:
and the other corner:
Here's the first yellow:
And this is the cupboard that I have now moved out of the way:
Nasty holes that were hiding behind the board holding the router:
I filled them in, but the plaster has to dry until tomorrow. More painting then. (And maybe more pics.)

I love that cupboard/shelving unit thingamajig in your office!!
I would really like a replica of that exact item just to the left of my computer desk
<tries twitching his nose like Samantha to make it magically appear >
<didn't work >
Seriously, your room is looking good!

Re: Redecorating my office
The cupboard will actually go to the living room, it holds most of my tableware. I do love the window, though, and will enjoy sitting up there.

That room looks really neat! I love the raised area under the window. I bet it's going to look grand when it's all done!

Re: Redecorating my office
I got the painting done, and have already moved part of the furniture. For the rest I need help, not because it's heavy (some bits are), but mostly because they are too big to wield on my own.
I'll try to get a friend to help me. With a bit of luck, I can even move my desk and computer be next weekend. I almost cannot believe this! It's been such a long project, and I've lost momentum so often, it's no longer funny. Hehe.

Re: Redecorating my office
The rest of the furniture has been moved, now it's only the desk that remains to be shifted. (Argh! That'll be horrible!)
I've started putting all the dishes back into the blue/wooden cupboard, and I'm happy already. It looks so much better in both rooms. I can hardly wait to have everything done and to invite my friends to celebrate.
Wheee!

I sure hope we get pictures of the end result when you are done!
