Re: Garden

Muladzh, you have had an awful lot of issues for it to be mere coicidence. I was beginning to wonder!! I'm glad you figured out that it was someone being pissy....that lets you know you're in the right place and the right time if you're pissing someone off this bad.
On the GPS situation, did you not get any type of printable receipt in your e-mail? If so, that may be the way to get your equipment. If not, I'd be requesting one, and then make sure they send you one anytime you purchase something so that you have proof that is it your item. That's just nuts, but I can understand they have to be extra dilligent. Doesn't make it right, though!!

And that's super that ACE was able to give you a really good price on the sandbags! As for hauling them, do you have a small trailer you can tow behind the Jeep? If nothing else, perhaps you can rent a truck for a day? Just long enough to get your sandbags home....or even rent a trailer to pull behind the Jeep if you don't have one. You may be able to get a small U-Haul trailer for just a little.....I'd just type in 'trailer rental' into the search engine and see what comes up. Worth a try if you need it. Good luck on all of these endeavors!!!

The advantage of buying sandbags is that they are empty.. the entire two thousand bags will weigh about 180 pounds, and will occupy about a four foot, by two foot by two foot space. They will fit in the jeep with a bit of wriggling about.

About the truck. The service manager took one look underneath and said that it was an easy fix. By 13:00 I had a nearly fixed truck back again, on Monday the only new part arrives, and I can fit it myself. Heat and pressure straightened the bent sway bar, and the tie rod is supposed to be S shaped. So, the damage was not as bad as I feared, but still a trip down a curvy road, with stuck steering is still miraculous.

I won't be driving the truck until the next part arrives, though we did take both vehicles out to the winter spot, and park the truck there.

Great that you can get them in the Jeep then!!
I know I probably could have gotten them into my Jeep YJ7...with a bit of wrangling!
My youngest daughter and I sure did know how to pack that Jeep! We were camping once with DH's brother and his family. Me, my daughter, my SIL and her youngest daughter all hopped in the Jeep to go get groceries and some other needed items. My daughter and I, after shopping, packed $200 worth of groceries, 2 cots, 2 sleeping bags, 4 bags of ice and a couple of bags with some clothes into that Jeep...with the 4 of us!! And that $200 of groceries was actually quite a lot at that time. And if you know how small the cargo area of a YJ (almost identical to a CJ..just an earlier model), then you know that was quite a feat!! LOL emoticon
So, I'm sure you can get all the sandbags in the Jeep if you have to!

Sounds like things went very well on the truck repairs, and I'm sure you're glad to get it to the winter site and settled.

We got 1500 sandbags into the back seat of the jeep - it stacked to a few inches from the roof. What fun. There seems to a heck of a lot of sandbags - I hope I got the calculations right - if not, there will be a lot of spare bags.. I know I got sufficient, but maybe, there will be too many.

If you have too many, they can be saved for later projects or in case a critter chews one of the filled ones somehow... emoticon

OK, Queeny...as I tell my kids... "Get out of my head!!!" my thoughts exactly. They can be used further down the road, or in case something happens to one...

OR

if ACE will do it..take the unused ones back for a refund or exchange for something else you may need.

Re: Garden

We will keep the spares for other projects - this house will be an experiment, left here for the owners of the land to use if they want to - ours, next year will be the collective results of four experiments we are doing with this one. So, any spare bags will be used then, along with another two thousand of them.

We are on a knowledge gaining spree, that gets more and more interesting.
