New projects.....

Well, I think I have enough stuff to keep me busy for a while.

When my Dad passed away, I had the opportunity to go through all of his loose photos and albums. Dad has 3 sisters and a brother, so what I did was make up ziplock bags with each of their family's name on the bag.....like, for photos of my sister and BIL, I put in a bag with her last name. For my Dad's oldest sister, her DH, kids, etc, I put photos of them into a bag with their last name.....and so on. I gave those to them before I left. Well, we used to have some big family gatherings with various members of different 'fingers' of the family and my sister and I felt it wasn't fair for one person to get certain photos and others different ones, so, I am going to make photo CDs with all the rest of the photos for all our family. That's one project.

another one....one of my niece's is pregnant and expecting in March. She told her Mom she wanted a crocheted baby blanket with matching bonnet, so, I got the yarn and started on it last night. She wanted bright, rainbow colors, so I'm doing it in purple, lime green, bright orange, turquoise, yellow and pink. I got some varigated with all but the purple and pink in it to make the bonnet (assuming I'm able to...not that good..lol. Fenyx did say she'd help if I needed her to), and to make a lacy border around the finished afghan. I'm making the afghan large enough that it can be used as a lap throw when the baby is an adult....assuming it's not in tatters by then....LOL.

Third project....several parts to it. When my best friend saw the tie-dye shirt I made for DH's costume, she said it would be neat to take a 'wife beater' (sleeveless, ribbed t-shirt) and some boxers and make some summer pjs. So, I went and got 2 ribbed tanks and some boxers and am going to make her and her daughter each a set for Christmas. Her daughter's birthday is next month and she asked me to do her a t-shirt and socks...so, got the shirt and socks, and some of the dye I needed. I need a couple of other colors. I wish the dye I get came in individual bottles, but I've only found it in sets of 3 or 5 bottles, and one huge set that I think had 8 bottles in it (for $30!!don't think so! lol). What I don't like about the dye I use....once you mix it, you only have about 45 minutes to use it for maximum color strength. After that, any unused has to be thrown out unless you don't mind weaker color. It's a bit of a waste of money, but, I like how easy it is to use.

Sooooo......some neat projects..just hope I can get them all done by the time I need to. fortunately, the photo CDs don't need to be done by any certain time, but I'd like to get them done in a reasonable amount of time.

Re: New projects.....

Saijen, those sound like great fun - and a lot of work! emoticon

The photo CD will be much appreciated, I think. It's always nice to have family pics, and even nicer to have them well labelled. (I should scan a whole carton of them ... argh.)

That baby blanket sounds great. What a wild range of colors! I'm sure the baby will just love it.

How funny that people want tie-dye shirts again! I had one when I was about 12, took an old shirt of my dad's and used blue dye on it. I think you'll enjoy that project a lot, except for the money that will go into it. Maybe you can find dye online, so you have to buy less of the colors you don't need?

Have lots of fun!

Lots of fun, for sure, Firle!! About the dye....it's ok about losing a little. I don't really have enough time to look, order, pay and wait for it to get here to go online. I have enough projects that I think I'll be OK with what I get...but I'd like to have just one or 2 other colors to use and they don't make sets with all the colors I want...I'd have to buy 2 or 3 sets to get what I'm after. Oh well, I'll come up with something, I'm sure....I'm inovative..LOL.

I wore tie-dye when I was a kid, too, and I've noticed it's coming back with a vengence! LOL Tie-dye is fun to make, fun to wear....just plain fun!!

The blanket, I hope the Mom loves it. She's bein a real pest to her Mom about it. She keeps asking who her Mom got to make it...her Mom won't tell her. The Mom-to-be wanted to go with whomever was to make it to get the yarn. Too late!! LOL. When her Mom told her that the person had already been told what colors, M-T-B got a bit upset but then asked if grandma to be told the maker to be sure to put pink in there, too. That's kind of a DUH factor....she's having a girl, so, of course there has to be pink in there!!!

The photo CD, there are quite a few photos of Dad, and I know I wanted most of them, but I'm sure other family did as well, so this way, there are no hurt feelings, arguments or negatives. Everyone gets copies of every picture I have in my current possession.
My Mom made a suggestion that after I get the CDs done, that I put the pictures in several albums and auction them off to family. That way, I'm not stuck with a huge load of hard copies of pictures, it makes money to use toward possibly a family get-together or to do something with....just have to work on that some.

WOW!! You will be busy, luckily it's getting colder, perfect for staying in and doing projects.. emoticon
Love the tie-dyed stuff....definitely making a comeback. I wish I had all the clothes we had in the 70's....tie-dyed, bell bottom pants, plateform shoes....geeeez, I'd be rich selling on Ebay! emoticon

I love the CD Idea....we sort of do that for all our reunions. EVERYONE takes pictures, then the last day we are all there.....we download them onto one of the gang's PC and we make up CDS right there.....sharing the best of everyone pictures...
Hubby did one with music for my family reunion and each piece of music pertained to what that group of pictures was about. Like the day the "boys" all went to the Warhawk Air Museum. He used music from the WWII era...such as The Andrews Sisters, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and at the end (we had people leaving all week, so we made up the Disks and send them out)...but we took pictures of all leaving and put that to "Happy Trails to you"...
So those can be a lot of fun!
I wish you so much luck. And fond memories as you got through each.. emoticon

Very cool ideas, Queeny!! I'm not talented enough to do the music and all, but what a neat idea! I have got to get the baby blanket/afghan pretty much done before I start on the CDs, but hopefully I'll have the CDs done before too awfully long.

emoticon Yeah....most of us here could probably get rich off Ebay if we had the clothes we wore when we were teenagers!! My problem is...I'd wanna wear em, but they'd not fit me anymore LOL. I was a LOT smaller way back then..... emoticon

Re: New projects.....

Ok....here are a couple of photos of the baby projects I'm working on.

This first one is of the baby blanket/afghan I'm working on.

These next 2 are of the very first baby bonnet I've ever made. There is also a ribbon about 3 rows up from the bottom, I hadn't put it on yet when I took these photos.
First is the front

And now the back

I'm working on a second bonnet, but want to get it done before I take any photos.

I have some more tie-dye projects to do, which I need to get my rear in gear and get done, as I need some of them by Thanksgiving.
I am making a shirt and socks for my best friend's daugher for her birthday, then I'm making her and G each some shorty pjs for Christmas. I'll try to get photos of those and post when I get them done. Really am not sure how the heck I'm gonna get the socks to do right, but, I bought 3 pair, so...trial and error...hopefully more trial and less error!!! emoticon

Wow, Saijen, those are beautiful!

Love the colorful baby blanket, it's sooo cheerful! And the t-shirts are great. How did you ever manage the spiral?
