The wise women in our clan teach us all how to go about dying. If we do that right we will be born in the clan, with a lot of last life knowledge to work with, which makes the child thought of outside the clan as either a freak or a know- all. Other than that, it really is great. The way to deal with death is to welcome it, embrace it, and breathe you last with serenity. That way, apparently, one gets to choose where you are born. As I know way more that I have learned in the last half century, I accept our clan beliefs as fact, and fully expect to be born to my Uncle's side of the family. Probably as his great great grand child.

Your family sounds so wonderful. How lucky for you to be born into that....how lucky for us to have you here. emoticon

My son also gave me basically that same advice.
He said, "Mom when your time comes, embrace it, be joyous and thank the Universe, the Goddess and your Spirit guide for all you have learned...go willingly. This will make it easier for you to come back again and perhaps keep some of the memories you had from before."

I've already figured out that dying is something that does not scare me....if I know for sure it's my time, (and not something stupid like choking on water! emoticon ) I'm going into the arms of the Universe and heading to Summerland with a smile on my face. emoticon

Muladzh, thanks for that advice.

I no longer remember when I stopped being afraid of death. I'm much more afraid of pain. And I'm already accessing what seems like memories of earlier lives. Not all of that is fun, but it's okay. (I think in one life I was a horrible sadist. emoticon )

Now I hope to be able to get into memories of a life where I had to do a lot of riding. That could make my next riding lesson sooo much easier. emoticon

I'm like Firle...not afraid of death, but afraid of pain. When I go, I want it to be quick, like my Dad and my Uncle...neither suffered. Dad was in midword, sitting in his favorite chair after being gone all day with a neighbor when he died, Uncle Fred was fleeing a tornado. I don't want to linger on this Earth and be in pain or suffer....and if I happen to end up that way, my last breath will be with serenity, because I will know I am finally moving on, and won't be hurting anymore.
Very wise words from the Wise Women of your clan, Muladzh..and from your son, Queeny!!!

(one reason I've never attempted suicide is because I was afraid I'd not succeed, then I'd have to hurt!!! emoticon .....true story....funny, but still true!!)

I attempted suicide once....it was Nature that saved me. emoticon

I to want to go quick and swift. But I will and do deal with pain. But if I get something like terminal cancer and am going to go slow and be a burden. I think my suicide will most definitely work... emoticon

I think the type of think you mentioned with the cancer is what Firle was talking about..and I know it was with me....like you, I will, and do, deal with great amounts of pain on a daily basis, but it's not always total, unbearable pain 24/7/365. I AM still able to be mobile, I CAN still drive, I DO walk on my own 2 legs..although there are times when I think it's not such a good idea to.

I think the unbearable pain of suffering through some type of illness that is terminal is what was meant...not even the pain you and I deal with on a daily basis is so bad ALL the time that we can't function to some degree.
There was a time, in the last 13 yrs, where twice, I was bed-bound. First time for 6 weeks, second time for 9 weeks. THAT, I would not want to deal with for the rest of my life....it was horrible. The pain I was in was unbelievable. I had to use a walker the second time, just to take 4-5 steps from the bed to the bathroom...and DH even considered just getting a bedside potty so I'd not have to walk even that far. That kind of pain, I don't think I could tolerate for much longer than I did then. That was more than 2 months of being stuck in the bed...no help...nothing. DH had hooked up my computer on a cart so I could at least get online when I felt up to it..at that point, I had a regular desktop. Before he would go to work, he would bring me somethings in to the bedroom so I could eat, as well as water and such, to drink. The computer, he set up on an old janitorial cart, so I had the monitor on the top, the tower on the bottom and I'd put the keyboard on top of the tower when I was done... I had a shelf between that I'd keep books and such on. It was NOT a good time in my life...either time! Many, many times, I'd end up in the ER at night, in so much pain it wasn't funny...they'd dope me up and send me back home to my bed! It wasn't until after I had my last 2 back surgeries that I started actually being able to be a bit more active. I owe my current mobility to the neurosurgeon at UT!! If not for him, and I were still in as much pain as before, I probably would have attempted suicide!

I kind of figured it was.... emoticon

Like I told my Dad last night.....he's in awful shape, he's 75 years old....and the only thing that helps him is prednisone....they want to take him off that because it's so bad for your bones. Without it can barely move and really has no joy in life....
I told him to tell his doctor, that...it's NOT the quantity that makes life worth living...it's the quality.

He liked that.... emoticon
