Re: Spring Equinox

You should have your air tested for Mold. As Queeny said it can really make you sick even a small amount.

Bec...yeah. Bad thing is, I don't have the time to get someone here right now. We're leaving either Sunday or Monday, and I'll be gone for 10 days, DH will be back after about 4 days, BUT, he won't be able to be here at the house during the daytime. I do think that I will see about calling to make an appointment for someone to come when I get back though. I am rather tired of having to deal with this stuff and we need to know exactly how to stop it. DH already has lung issues...has since he was a kid. So...will have to see what can be done.

You might get someone out there when you get back and/or have your landlord have someone out. Maybe even they will pay for it....before you get terribly sick and sue them! emoticon

If you are going to be gone see if you feel better. If the symptoms go away. If they do then that's a good clue it's mold.

Re: Spring Equinox

Queeny, yeah, I seriously think the landlord needs to actually SEE what is happening. I noticed some more mold in a corner in the utility room...next to the back door. What I don't get..there is none in the back bedroom...but, we keep that door shut, so the room stays cool. But, even when my daughter lived here and that was her room, there was no mold in there...and 2 of it's 4 walls are outside walls, and it gets the brunt of the rain and sun! I don't get it. Not sure if it's due to too much moister in the ground, if there are leaks that we're not seeing or what...but yeah, I think the landlord needs to see it....and if a pro is called, he should be the one to pay for it..not us...which he would probably do. He's a good landlord, so can't complain too much.

Bec, I had thought the same thing. I know I will still have a sinus issue. Dad's house is the dustiest house I think I've ever come across. You can dust till the place sparkles, and in a few hours, it's all dusty again. I think that's one reason Dad gave up trying to dust the place LOL. Not sure I blame him!!! But, the other things...the headaches, the just general feeling of unwellness, yeah....if those go away, then it's a safe bet the mold is causing problems.

After looking at some photos, I'm not sure that the mold we have ISN'T black mold. In some of the photos, what they are calling toxic black mold isn't always black..it has a green tinge to it...and what we have here is a brown-ish color with a green tinge...almost an Army khaki, but a bit darker brown (olive looking but more on the brown side).

And, it didn't help matters that we had a storm blow up really quick last night and it rained in the bedroom window and soaked the floor. We got it up immediately, but, who knows!

Either way we go, can't do anything till we get back from Alabama

Definitely test....I hate to say this but you could seriously be damaging your health...permanently. emoticon
And our old house in MN...had 'ground seep'...it just seeped into the walls from the surrounding ground...our walls were always damp in the basement. BUT....it was just basically a dirt hole in the ground....we tore down all the drywall and framing and left it as it had been built....a dirt HOLE. With the piping, septic and hot water heater down there....that was it. We never had a musty or moldy problem after that. The mold was living in the drywall and wood....not the natural soil.

Re: Spring Equinox

Yeah...and I have thought about, when I get back, maybe, if there are tests that can be done to/on ME, to see if some of my symptoms are actually related to the mold issue.

I've got to reschedule an appointment with our FNP anyway...so, may bring this up when I call to reschedule.

One of the symptoms is fluctuations in BP, and man, mine is really weird. FNP has me on 3 BP meds, and BP is still too high...so, maybe it's the mold..not me!! I've had high BP since LONG before I moved here..but it was stable till the last couple of years....about the time the mold started showing up! Also...the lungs bleeding thing kind of scares me! Don't think that is happening, but it COULD happen.
DH is FOREVER exhausted....one of the symptoms is CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME!

Went ahead and made my appointment....April 19th, so that much is out of the way.

(man...we sure did hijack this thread..didn't we?)

Gotta call health dept. to get the name of someone to come and check this mold, now.....should be interesting!

Funny how one thing can lead to another...it's like a chain of thought.
And if this topic massacre means you end up with better health.....well, all the more for it! emoticon

Well, spring is about life growing again - and once you kill that mold, your life can grow again.

Not too far off topic. emoticon

Spring is really coming here now, the bushes are getting ready to burst into leaf. I so love this time of the year.

And I love it too. All the trees here have lime green leaves...tiny and new. The Crap Apples are all a bloom and the fields are barely showing green....corn and alpha so far. emoticon
