Re: The last space shuttle launch
Very glad the dreams have stopped. I think many feel as you do, each time a shuttle, or rocket was launched, that you never are fully sure all will be well, until they are back with feet firmly planted on the good ole Earth.
I have a feeling that space travel won't stay down for good....I think this merely marks the end of the era of the space shuttle program....but they've not yet fully come up with anything to replace it with. I think, at some point, and maybe not in our lifetime, things will pick up to a point we never could have dreamed about. So, weep not for an era gone by, but rejoice for the ones to come!!!!

Re: The last space shuttle launch
Spaceport America....LINK....just 45 minutes north of us in Las Cruces!
Totally freaking awesome!
BTW on Twitter I'm overthehillfan and a HUGE fan of Spaceport America! Not sure if this will be there tomorrow so I screen capped my Twitter today as they had the response on the official Spaceport America site!
I had Tweeted to them about their 'sad that this era of spaceflight was over' with this:
overthehillfan Elizabeth Robert
@
@Spaceport_NM Sad that the Shuttle flights are over, but glad that there is still thinkers and doers out there! YOU GO!
HERE IS THE SCREEN GRAB OF THEIR RESPONSE:

Re: The last space shuttle launch
Well for about 5 months out of the year we do only live 45 minutes down the road. We plan on taking the "tour" once the main building is up...

Re: The last space shuttle launch
Do I have to come over and badger you, so we can make the trip together?
I'd love to, and I'll make that a new dream for me.

Re: The last space shuttle launch
Well, right now......Mr. Branson is taking reservations for his 'space' ship trip. It only takes you barely outside the Earth atmo...but some day he hopes to have a "HOTEL" up there in space...
The trips right now are costing $200,000.00 round trip! You would be surprised how many people have signed up already!

Re: The last space shuttle launch
$200,000.00?? I don't think I've ever seen that much money at one time (spread out over years and years and years.....etc. maybe). It's amazing what some people will pay for! LOL.....if I could get a guarantee it would happen, and I had the money, I MAY make a reservation, but I'm such a cheap-skate, not sure I'd do it...LOL. Heck, I won't buy a pair of shoes if they're over $20, no matter how much I like them!!
