Life on the new Homestead!!!!!

Posible good news. We have found a farm for sale and are getting things lined up to offer on it. We have finance approved, just need all to come together. It is a 19.77 acre farm, built in 1946, with creek, fences (at least some fencez) with a 3340sq ft hiouse, 5000 sq ft barn, large stable block, huge hen house, cattle shed and plenty of pasture. There is huge douglas fir tree and much more. It is not assured that we will get it, so good thoughts and energies are hoped for. Should it become ours we have a buisness plan worked out, for tree growth, flowers and vegetables. If all comes to pass, we would close in October, then we will be homesteading agin.

The search for the perfect place showed us many imperfect places, giving us ideas to make the Indiana house saleable. Not paying for that place will make life much easier.

Having such a great place will be so wonderful, so I am hoping the Goddess is smiling on me.

There are little black bats all over, many unfortunately dead inside the house, trapped behind windows. May the poor litle guys rest well. But the live ones are numerous, as are garter snakes and birds. Today we found an unlisted root cellar, full of canned vegies. They had been there years - the ladder down is rotted so bad it hasn't suported anyone for a long time.

We are both rather excited as my SIL who is coming in with us, though not to do any work...

Hopefully it will happen.

Will your SIL stay all the time, or is it just for a visit?

Oh Muladzh!!! May the Goddess hear your fervent request and grant it!!! It sounds like the perfect place for you and the Frog!!

Energies and good thoughts headed your way.

We love our bats here. We have at least 4, and we enjoy watching them. They totally fascinate me!

Well...
We met a friendly witch at the property who knew my name, and warned me with truth. The property proves not to be for us, BUT... A new one arrived. 37 acres, waterfront, huge dairy barn, fishing & hunting rights, trees, pasture, fun and with everything we want for 1 hundred thousand less. We will go look tomorrow.

The truth was very ugly, burgleries, missing wires, malfunctioning unsuitable well, & very bigoted neighbors.

Thank you for your energies, they saved me from sorrows..

Now we go happily to another...

Hurra for the friendly witch! So glad you got the warning in time.

That other property sounds great! Hunting and fishing rights are rather valuable, and waterfront ... Wooohooo! All that for less that's just wonderful.

*sends more luck and energy* emoticon emoticon

This house hunting is not easy. The large waterfront property was worse than junk. The photo online did not look ANYTHING like the place, very misleading. SO that one Didn't work either.

Well, darn, Muladzh! Both sounded perfect, so I'm really sorry that neither worked out for y'all!

It's too bad you're not on this side of the country. You can almost always find wonderful spots, either near water or near the mountains...or both!

All of these are very close to me.

This one is near Nashville, but not so close you'd be in the middle of all the 'stuff'

I love the house in this one!!!!

I have no idea what your price range is...and it's none of my business. I'm just trying to show you what kind of things are available on this side of the country. I have no clue if your work keeps you on that side of the country, or if that's just where you prefer to be.

What I did to find that last one...I simply typed in Farms for sale in Tennessee. And got a listing with all kinds of places. Some were well into the million $ range.... a bit much if you ask me, but the houses were HUGE (more than I'd want to have to keep clean!!!) You can probably do land the same way. Waterfront land for sale in________ . I wish you both much luck in your search and hope you find something before it gets too awfully cold.

I can say that in the area I live in, there is a lot of crime in the larger cities on either side of us, but here, we have very little. Most of what we have here is teen vandalism, DUI, wrecks, etc. In 13 years of living here, I have heard of only 4-5 murders in our county. We have had a few arrests for crack houses and illegal stills, but nothing like what you hear about in the larger cities. I love it here. I'd not be afraid to walk down the road out here in the middle of the night (I live in the county)....heck, I'd not be afraid to walk down the roads in town in the middle of the night!!! One of the safest places I've ever lived.

OH...Muladzh! I've been 'thinking' of you lately....even asked the Goddess, and Alara to keep watch if necessary.
I hope you find what you are looking for. Sending you energy and positive reinforcement for your hunt of a homestead. emoticon

Re: Maybe a new homstead.

We are negotiating with a bank, for a repoed garden center on five acres. It is a great place with sprinklers all over, raised beds, completely fenced with wooden rail fences, has a 24ft square shop and interesting house. Needs a lot of work and we want the bank(seller) to pay for a couple of big problems. If we 'win' we get a good deal. If they won't pay, we walk away. Hopefully they will pay up.

Anyhow, that is what we are up to.
