Re: Autumnal Equinox

Yeah, it did feel good....still does. emoticon

And my kid used to LOVE the apple orchard and pumpkin patch. It was his and my job to pick out a big one during the day. Then him and Daddy (when not out to sea), it was their job to carve it... emoticon

The news said we 'might' get to see the Northern lights night before last here as far down as Northern AZ....as I lay in bed, watching for them, doing my 'meditation'..I asked a question. And saw a Shooting star, how cool is that? emoticon

That's very cool!!! It's been a while since I've seen a shooting star, or anything else neat from the heavens. I miss that. Used to see them all the time. emoticon

Re: Autumnal Equinox

Muladzh, we have them all over here, too, I've just not been out when they have made their trek across the skies. The former neighbors across the road from us put up a very bright security light, which took away our 'good dark' in the front of the house, and the current neighbors have not seen fit to turn it off or remove it. The dang thing is over 2 football field's away, and it STILL shines into our bedroom window at night. We have decent darkness in the back of the house, but there is no porch on the back where we can sit and watch the stars. Rather aggravating!

I did get an e-mail from you and I replied, to one part of it, then replied to your initial question....if that's the one you mean. I'll check my e-mail to be sure there's not another.

Oh that is sad that the neighbors took away the darkness and night sky viewing from you...
I only get it on occasion....but definitely take it in when I can... emoticon

I do miss my 'good dark' as Fenyx would call it.

There are no street lights out here, and it used to be black as pitch before the security light went up. We could sit on the front porch and see all kinds of things in the skies....now, we have to go to the back, but there are no good places to sit (yard is too uneven). I just hate light pollution!!!

It's so different when there is so much light pollution as opposed to a good, dark where you can see all the wonderful things going on in the skies!!!

Re: Autumnal Equinox

That is actually one of the things I miss most living in town. I rarely see stars.

Growing up, I loved to go outside in the winter months and just look and look at the stars. In our village, street lights were turned off at 10pm. That meant a really GOOD dark. And I learned that it rarely is completely dark outside, even at night. I'm still not afraid of the night, even in town. (It's safer in the country, though.)

Firle, how neat that the street lights were actually turned off at night!! That would have been so cool if they'd do that here!!!
Growing up, we had a street light in the corner of our front yard, and it seems like almost every house I lived in had a street light in the corner of the yard, except for where my Dad had lived. I lived there for about 2 years...and there were no street lights anywhere close! Was awesome!! When my DH and I moved into this house, there were no street lights very close....closest one was about 3 football fields away (300 yards or more), and had trees between us and it...until the previous people across the road had that one put in. Coulda shot that darn light!!! Still could, but..........no point now! You can still see the stars pretty good if you're in the back of our house where the house bars the light. Love looking up on a good, clear night!!! Can see lots of goodies. Satellites, shooting stars, meteors, UFOs (not always of the alien kind...if you can't identify what it is, and it's flying, it's a UFO!), airplanes/copters..... or, just watching the stars twinkle!! emoticon
