Re: January Chat Thread!

Queeny: I hope things went well for you all.

Saijen: Sounds like you're having fairly good days. I'm glad to hear that.

TM: Wow, what a silly driver! I hope they arrested him, drunk driving is horribly dangerous, and a pro should never do that.

As for me, I'm finally back home. After two weeks, it feels good to be back at my own PC, on my nice rocking chair. My back sure missed it!

Sadly, I have lots of cleaning to do. My landlord's son fixed the bathroom while I was away, and a fine white dust covers everything in the bathroom, the kitchen and the hallway. And I have a client and a class on Wednesday! ARGH!

I already mopped bathroom and living room and parts of the hallway, will vacuum the rest tomorrow. I also washed some dishes and wiped the main kitchen table so I could get myself some food. The shower area is covered in even more dust, so I'll have to clean it before I can take my shower tonight. Don't really look forward to that, but ... it's a small price to pay for a nice, new shower area.

They did well. They found the same tiles we used 12 years ago (I guess they still sell well), and it actually looks better than before. I am missing all of my hooks in that area, which is a bit of a bother. Not sure where to put my towel tonight. I'll talk to them about that, and see what'll happen.

The weekend I spent at my friend's place was just wonderful. We talked until early in the morning both nights I was there. I need to catch up on some sleep!

Firle: Arg, don't you hate construction dust? Every time we do something it seems to take weeks to get all the dust completely out!

Back at work today. I have a prenatal visit later today. I think I've lost more weight but the midwives seem to be more accepting of it this time (probably because I lost weight last time and went on to have a healthy pregnancy). I think it's especially hard to compare since my diet has changed so drastically since pre-pregnancy. Eating meat may have caused me to lose weight anyway. But we'll see when I get on the scales there - my home scale is wonky.

TM: Glad the midwives are not worried about weight loss. I'm sure all will go well!

I'm not having a good day today. My Wednesday class had to be cancelled, not enough people booked it. That was a bad surprise, since most of them said they wanted to continue.

Also, an anthology in which I have a short story is running into yet more trouble. It's no longer clear it'll go to print. Our writing group editor has given up on it, and several authors are pondering withdrawing their story. *sigh*

I suppose that's what happens when catching up on two weeks worth of news, but it sure killed my holiday mood.

I also wrenched my back. Again. This time, it's only one side. I rubbed lavender oil into it and will sit on a hot bottle later today. I want to go riding tomorrow! ARGH!

Not a happy horsie today. emoticon

Re: January Chat Thread!

Goodness, Texas! Yeah, a bit of the kind of excitement people can do without, huh?

Well, things did not go as planned today. My daughter did not find out the baby's sex. Nugget just refused to cooperate. She also found out that she's 17 weeks, not 18 weeks as thought. Their insurance only pays for one sonogram, so I told her to find out how much it costs for another or a 3D one, and if I couldn't pay for all of it, I'd pay for as much of it as I possibly can.

Not a whole lot going on here. It's been rainy, and if no rain, cloudy and just dreary. I've not gone out since the [sign in to see URL] reason to. Just pretty much been chillin at home.

Re: January Chat Thread!

Saijen, last time, my sonogram was $250. I have no idea if I could have gotten it for less, I just went with the place recommended and the insurance would pay me back. It was the ONLY part of my prenatal care they DID cover!

Went to my prenatal today and had lost 4 more pounds! The baby is also measuring small, but the midwife thinks its because the baby is lying sideways. My sonogram is in 2 weeks so I'll know for sure.

While there, I mentioned my back pain and they HIGHLY recommended I get it fixed ASAP or it would just get worse. So I got into a chiropractor today too - actually a family practice (father and both his daughter and son) that I knew when I was a kid. Had my first [sign in to see URL]'ll see. So Firle, I'm right there with you on the back pain! OUCH!

Re: January Chat Thread!

[sign in to see URL] I missed some of the [sign in to see URL]'s response to the drunk driver post and your repsonse to that, Texas! emoticon Rather weird!!

Firle, I'm glad you're back home, and so very happy that you had such wonderful visits with everyone. I'm sorry, though, that you came home to that dust! It's such a pain to get cleaned up. Too bad the landlord's son wasn't nice enough to at least clean the shower up some when he was through with the repairs!

I'm really sorry to hear that you've also injured your back! I sure hope you're able to get some relief for that and are able to do your riding lesson!!!

Texas, I hope you're not losing too much weight, but I imagine that you'll be fine. You're eating healthy, and doing the things you're supposed to, so I'm sure the baby will be as fine as Willa was at birth. Some Moms lose a lot of weight in the first half of their pregnancy, then gain a bunch in the last half. I think that as long as the baby is getting the nourishment it needs, all is well.

If I have to pay out $250, I will, if for no other reason that to ease my daughter and SIL's minds that all is as it should be. I don't think I can do more than that, but I can at least do up to that.

I'm actually kind of surprised that they suggested any kind of chiropractic intervention. I do hope it helped, though!
What's up with the back pain? Me, then Firle and now you???? I'm still having to use my heating pad frequently throughout the day!!
May we ALL get free from our back [sign in to see URL] soon!!!!!!

Queeny: My thoughts are with you, hope all goes well for Chris and everyone else! emoticon

TM: I hope your back pain is easing off. If not, we can EFT via Skype and see if we can get it to budge. emoticon

Saijen: Hope they can get another sonagram - or you'll have to plan for a surprise! emoticon All the best for your daughter and Nugget! (What a cute name!)

As for me: I'm happy today! emoticon

My back eased up considerably, after I used a grain hot pack on it and tapped several rounds for good measure. So I went through with my riding lesson and it went very, very well!

I rode the grumpy old gelding, except he wasn't really grumpy today. Yes, he tested my authority, got slapped for it, and then decided to cooperate. We had a great ride! He's stiff on one side and doesn't like to canter with that lead, but he managed on third try. I was so proud of him!

 emoticon

Work was okay, I actually have stuff to do. So I'll be nicely occupied there for the rest of the week.

Now I'm headed for a shower and going to relax the rest of the day. Tuesdays are MY days, and I only do what I want to.

 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Re: January Chat Thread!

Glad your back is better! Mine appears to be responding to the chiropractic treatment. I go back on Thursday to check again.

Today is a day of 'computer' stuff. I'm cleaning out my inbox and getting serious about research for a paper I've been promising to start for about 6 months now. So I keep coming across interesting tid bits that I'm posting on the forum! I'm pretty much glued to my computer for the rest of the week (which is good for my back since sitting doesn't hurt, but boring for the rest of me since I like to be up doing things in the lab!). Expect to see me around these parts a lot as I need to take a break from reading boring, er exciting, science papers!

Re: January Chat Thread!

Sorry I was absent yesterday. I'm still dealing with some back issues that I'll discuss with my FNP [sign in to see URL] I just realized that their office never did call me to confirm my appointment! How [sign in to see URL] I might ought to call in the morning to be sure they have the date right in their computer! My card says tomorrow at [sign in to see URL] emoticon

[sign in to see URL] spent the day yesterday pretty much just [sign in to see URL] a book and spent a great deal of time on the heating pad. I did have to go to town in the late [sign in to see URL] to wire some money to a family member, and pick up some grocery [sign in to see URL] while unloading them from the truck to the [sign in to see URL] aggravated my back again!
Today, back is a bit better. I managed to get a load of DH's jeans and work shirts washed and dried, dishes from last night's pizza washed, and for supper, I heated up some left over soup beans and cornbread and fried some cabbage, then got those dishes washed.

Firle, I'm really glad that your back eased off enough for you to go to your riding lesson and that the old grumpy horse decided to cooperate and give you a good ride.

Good on having some things to do at work, [sign in to see URL] some good YOU time!!!

Texas, I hope you have fun with your research and it ends up not being quite as boring as you fear.

Re: January Chat Thread!

Yesterday was good. Lots of computer work so my back took a good rest. Then I had my neighborhood association meeting in the evening. I did not rerun to be on the board this year but I'm still webmaster for them and I'm very good friends with the president and she wanted me to come. So I played her assistant! It was kinda fun - I handed out all the papers and took down notes for her. It was a stupid meeting though. Everyone bickered about procedural nonsense for nearly 2 hours. The new president is trying to make things less bureaucratic and simpler and no body wants anything to change. Then at the end, the president asked for volunteers to do some research on two things our neighborhood needs to vote on with the city in the coming [sign in to see URL] ONE would volunteer. Everyone just wants to sit around and !@#$. Sheesh.

Today is more research and a staff meeting. I "have" to leave it early (oh darn!) for another chiro appointment and then race off to pick up Willa. Hubby is in Vegas on a work trip (or so he tells me emoticon ) so it's just me and the kiddo!

Psst - Saijen, tell us about the book you read in The Library!
