Re: January Chat Thread!

Firle, I'm really glad that you've found a good doc and that he's really looking out for your best interests! I know being off work for a couple of weeks can be a pain, but [sign in to see URL] a couple of weeks than a month or more!

Texas, most of my life is like [sign in to see URL] of running, but nothing to show for it! LOL

[sign in to see URL] news on Chris! And very nice on having some really warm days to open things up and air out.

Still kind of taking it easy today. Last night's storms, thankfully, blew themselves out pretty much by the time they got this far East. We had a couple of really intense strikes of lightning, one small roll of thunder, and a LOT of rain!

Got the kitchen cleaned up good, and floors swept. That's about all I could manage. DH stopped and got us a late lunch/early supper, so we've just kind of snacked this evening. I have GOT to get some groceries tomorrow. Don't want to do full shopping, since I'll be doing it alone, but will get a few items while I'm out.

Nothing exciting here emoticon

Re: January Chat Thread!

Yesterday was a good day. Got lots done at work, did some research for a gardening lesson for the forum (yeah!), cooked dinner and generally had a blast with the family.

This [sign in to see URL], already off to a bad start! Willa woke up at 6:30 - usually she's up around 8:00. She was crabby of course. Nothing would satisfy her. While hubby was finishing breakfast, we were sitting on the couch playing with stickers when she just lost it.

I tried tapping. I was flustered and couldn't think of anything good to say or even remember the 4 spots for children's EFT (I remembered 3 at least!). By the third round (very quick rounds), she had stopped crying. Hubby had been staring wide eyed the whole time and just whispered, "creepy!" when we were done. Hehehe. When she got fussy again a few minutes later, she pulled my hand to her face and we did it again! I'll brush up on what I'm really supposed to be doing, but it seemed to work pretty well - she knew I was trying to help and calm her and it did the trick this morning!

Going to the chiro today. My neck is KILLING ME from the adjustment late last week. It didn't hurt at all [sign in to see URL]. Hopefully I can cut back and the treatments will start being less painful. My insurance only allows so many sessions so I probably need to cut back anyway if I plan to get adjusted occasionally throughout pregnancy.

Other than that, work work work! And cooking more yummy Italian food tonight!

TM, I'm so glad EFT worked for Willa! You can use all the points on children, just as you would on yourself. It's just easier to gently rub them rather than tapping - but it works so fast for kids! And if they are right in their tantrum, you don't need words, either. Well done!

Today I'm having a bit more energy. I'm hoarding it, trying to be careful. Still, things are improving. I managed to vaccuum my flat. emoticon

Re: January Chat Thread!

The shorter version I had read (and now had to reread!) just used the point at the top of the head, the eyebrow near the middle, the chin and the collar bones. It's probably to avoid getting to close to their eyes, but Willa probably wouldn't mind. Now that I reviewed the full sequence again and have a few phrases memorized, I think I'll be better prepared next time!

[sign in to see URL] cool that the EFT worked so quickly and efficiently on Willa. I know it made you all feel better.

Firle, glad you're feeling better! Don't blame you for hoarding the energy for right now! [sign in to see URL] on getting the vacuuming done.

I'm still fighting whatever hit me on Saturday. Mostly just headaches right now, but day before yesterday, my stomach about turned inside out and I spent a good bit of time in the bathroom. So far yesterday and this morning (not been to bed [sign in to see URL] up since about 11 yesterday [sign in to see URL] it's 5:36am Thursday morning)I've only had headaches. As soon as I'm done here, I'll be going to bed and hope I'm able to sleep.

Saturday, if all goes well and I'm feeling better, DH and I are going to meet my oldest daughter and her g/f in Sweetwater, TN and we're all going to The Lost Sea [sign in to see URL]

We'll head out around 8am, grab breakfast on the way and eat while we drive. We'll get there between 10-10:30, and enjoy the [sign in to see URL] we'll find a nice place to eat a late lunch/early supper before heading back to our homes. This place is almost exactly between us. It's supposed to be nice [sign in to see URL] and temps in the high 50s. Just hoping my body will cooperate!

DH had an interesting day yesterday. The AT&T contract did not go out for bid last Thursday like it was supposed to. They told DH's company that if they can figure out a way to save them money on the cleaning contract, they'll keep them. Ok. Well, the new president of DH's group flew in from PA day before yesterday, and he, DH and DH's boss's boss drove around to some of the AT&T buildings and the pres. asked DH that, if it were up to him to make the [sign in to see URL] would he cut and why. This guy is asking all of the managers under him about their jobs, and what they can do to improve things, if cuts are needed, what THEY [sign in to see URL] than just making cuts without knowing squat about what it takes to keep these buildings clean. DH's boss's boss (a man I know rather well) is not one to compliment someone unless it's one of his good ole boy [sign in to see URL] DH is not one [sign in to see URL] the guy actually complimented DH to the [sign in to see URL] front of my DH! Lotta firsts, for sure. We still don't know if the contract will stay with his company, but the chances are better than they were that it will. This new group Pres. seesm to want to make a difference, but in the right [sign in to see URL] listening to the people under him! A day that DH was seriously dreading turned into a day of positive things.

For [sign in to see URL] [sign in to see URL] much! emoticon

Re: January Chat Thread!

Saijen, glad to hear things are looking good! Hopefully it will work out - and quickly, so you can stop worrying about it!

Went back to the chiro today. She said things were looking good and I'm going to back down to just one visit a week. Whew. My back can still be sore at times but it's not the crippling pain as before.

Just the usual house, work and other errands again today! Oh, I got the wool from the farm. I'm excited to work on it. Boy is it stinky! I forgot how smelly those sweaty sheep get. Not sure how I'm going to process it - clean first then spin or spin then clean. Both are valid methods. Need to do some research! The knife making probably won't happen until next weekend. Flood cleanup is taking up everyone's weekend time right now.

Saijen: I hope you're feeling better and can contemplate going to the show! Would be a shame to lose that to a nasty bug. Take good care!

Good news on the contract and the new manager though. Hope he can turn things around. Best of luck!

TM: I haven't worked with any fresh wool, but I think that washing and cleaning it first might be a good idea. Less stink to work in! Hope your research will help.

All the best for your flood damage work, too. May it all turn out to be less dreadful than it looked at first. emoticon

Saw news on Queeny on her board, she's busy taking care of her son. His wound got infected, but nobody was willing to do much about it until the original surgeon came back from his vacation. ARGH! At least now the stitches are released and I hope that Chris will feel better soon. He's back in El Paso!

As for me, I'm finally off the antibiotics and fighting thrush. *sigh* At least garlic is helping, I really don't feel like another round of meds. Even so, I'm slightly sick to the stomach (could be the garlic!), and feel more tired and ill than before. I sure hope that pneumonia isn't coming back. emoticon

I would rather not get another week of sick leave, I have two client appointments next week, and I'm very much looking forward to both (they are lovely people). So I'm going to pamper myself even more this weekend.

Firle, have you given any thought to trying some Olive Leaf Extract or some Oil of Oregano to help with your illness? I've not used it, but my sister has with outstanding results. They are both a natural antibiotic.

I hope you can get this under control. I'm sorry you're feeling worse than you were before!! emoticon

Thank you for the update on Queeny and Chris.

Texas, it's fully understandable that the flood stuff is primary on the minds and work schedules of everyone. Would be the same here if we were in that situation.

Well, I've felt better today than I have all week. This is the first day I've not had a headache upon waking and I've managed to get a few things done. Got the few dishes we've messed up the last couple of nights washed this morning (DH has brought stuff in, so really only had a couple of things). Got the dining room table cleaned off and washed [sign in to see URL] works at the table a lot, so it was piled up with paperwork from his job. Got the floor in the dining room swept and mopped, then got the main bathroom somewhat cleaned up. I've felt better today than I have in a while.

Tomorrow, we ARE going to The Lost Sea. I am really looking forward to it. I called today to see what kind of jacket we needed to bring. The lady said the caverns are at 58* year round, so a sweatshirt or a light jacket will be all we need. We'll go through 2-3 'rooms' before reaching the lake, then we'll get to go on a boat ride, then more [sign in to see URL]! One of my Aunts said they went a few years ago, and the walk out is kind of hard, apparently, but they give you breaks. I'll take my cane in with me, just for the added support. I'm looking forward to the break form the 'norm' and even more excited about seeing my daughter [sign in to see URL] all intents and [sign in to see URL] daughter-in-law. Not seen either of them in about 9 months. Don't look for me tomorrow!! Probably be too tired by the time we get home to worry about getting online.

Saijen, thanks for the tip. I've been trying to find it here, but have had no luck so far. I do have some eucalypt / thyme essence which is working fairly well.

Re: January Chat Thread!

Saijen, your trip sounds like fun! Can't wait to hear all about it.

Firle, the thrush stinks! Antibiotics are powerful, but they can really throw our bodies out of whack! And thanks for the update on Queeny. I had lurked over there the day before and not seen anything. Figured she was dealing with something with Chris. Doesn't sound too serious, but still wish things were going more smoothly!

We went to my niece's first birthday party this morning. It was a potluck brunch. I made a "cheese and turnip pie" because I had 2 lbs of turnips I couldn't figure out what to do with. I just found a recipe online and wasn't sure about it. It was delicious and everyone raved about it!

The rest of the weekend will hopefully just be catching up on some unfinished projects and getting some of my Imbolc plans going. I had left a few seed packets outside when it rained this week, so I've just finished planting those seeds as they won't last now that they've gotten soaked! Speaking of [sign in to see URL] have a bunch of stinky wool in hot water as I type! I can't wait to finish the project and show you guys the pictures.
