I think trying to 'be inside' a stone would be very peaceful and easy to meditate. I know when at my parents (they have a bathtub) I soak under the water with just enough of my nose sticking out to breath...you can hear you own heartbeat...talk about peaceful. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Queenyforever)Mon, 30 Jan 2012 22:03:20 +0000 Re: Stone workhttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p241408,from=rss#post241408https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p241408,from=rss#post241408Texas, these photos are gorgeous!!!! The second one reminds me of someone taking a photo of a sunset through an ice encrusted window. The third one....a sunset through some branches or underbrush. The next to last one....photo of an almost night sky....complete with stars... and the last one...the edge of some daisies, with some odd fungi next to them (the fan looking stuff).....really cool!!! I love really focusing on stones/crystals....you can see so many things. Sometimes I'll see a face, or an animal or some neat design. Nature is so fascinating, isn't it? nondisclosed_email@example.com (Saijen SilverWolf1)Thu, 26 Jan 2012 09:02:55 +0000 Re: Stone workhttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p241396,from=rss#post241396https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p241396,from=rss#post241396I was just reading some things about scrying using a crystal ball when I came across a description of a meditation technique. Instead of 'looking' in the crystal/stone, 'go' into the crystal/stone! It supposedly will help you better understand your stone(s) and how to work with them. I think I've already done this to some extent. I thought I had posted about this on the board but I can't find it (thought it would be in the Crafts section). Sorry if this is a repeat, but at least it's been a while! My mom has a book called Within the Stone. It's a gorgeous coffee table book that is just full pages of close up shots of polished stones. Doesn't sound interesting does it? Some of the images are so incredible, you can spend hours staring at them. I tried a little project on my own similar to this. I certainly don't have the right camera equipment, but it really helped me connect to this pieces. I've found more and more interesting features on the surface and inside crystals. It certainly has been a type of meditation for me. Perhaps I should expand on this? Anyway, here are some of my more favorite shots: I'm getting more and more inspired to work with stones...now I just need to get motivated! nondisclosed_email@example.com (TexasMadness)Wed, 25 Jan 2012 18:43:07 +0000 Re: Stone workhttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p241224,from=rss#post241224https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p241224,from=rss#post241224I've used stones/crystals in a lot of my past works....not done anything recent. I have what is called a Witch's Ladder that someone from the old board made for me. It's almost like a roseary, and I use it a lot...when I'm stressed, or, when I had my TOS surgery, it went with me to the hospital, and it stayed tucked under my pillow or on the table you slide over your bed. Some of the most powerful stones I've used have been just every day, dug up out of the dirt rocks. I love rocks, and when I see one that just really jumps out at me, I'll pick it up, or dig it up, clean it off if it needs it, charge it, then it goes on top of my Witch's cabinet. Something that I do...works for me, may not work for everyone...when I'm looking for a particular stone or crystal for something, I'll hold various ones in my hand (one at a time)....if it becomes really warm, then I know that's the one I need. If it only absorbs my body heat, then it's not the one for me. I've done talismans and charms with stones. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Saijen SilverWolf1)Thu, 19 Jan 2012 04:58:31 +0000 Re: Stone workhttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p241217,from=rss#post241217https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p241217,from=rss#post241217I have many pieces of jewelry with stones of one kind or another....but of course my pentacle has the 'blue Sapphire', water stone in it...I use that each night to open my meditations: Hold it up to the open window...(hopefully facing the moon)... "By the earth that is her body by the air that is her breath by the fire that is her bright spirit by the living waters of her womb. May the peace of the goddess be forever in my heart; the circle is open but unbroken, Merry Meet and Merry Part" Then I go on about calling the Elements, the Goddess, my Spirit guide and meditate on all that comes into my head.. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Queenyforever)Wed, 18 Jan 2012 18:46:23 +0000 Re: Stone workhttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p241213,from=rss#post241213https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p241213,from=rss#post241213Two years ago, I have asked one particular stone to protect my apartment. It sits next to the sliding doors between my living room and my practice. However, that's practically the extent of my stone work.    nondisclosed_email@example.com (Firlefanz)Wed, 18 Jan 2012 18:26:54 +0000 Stone workhttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p241212,from=rss#post241212https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p241212,from=rss#post241212I'm wondering if anyone here uses stones in their magic/meditation/whatever. I've long been a "rock hound" - really since I was a kid. I have way too many little collections all over the house. I also made a lot of stone jewelry for a few years. I've been out of the practice of dealing with stones for awhile now (the farm really absorbed all of my extra energy). But I've been wanting to get back into things. Setting up my kitchen shrine and finding my "fire stones" has really been a big nudge. Anybody else?nondisclosed_email@example.com (TexasMadness)Wed, 18 Jan 2012 18:19:53 +0000
