Re: South Beach Diet

Sorry, but the carbonated 'soda' doesn't sound good at [sign in to see URL]. I don't like lime, and for some reason, my taste buds have decided they don't like carbonation any more. I used to live off of sodas, but something happened and just can't handle them anymore.

Not sure how I would make the stevia work if I grew my own. I know you can put a leave in hot tea or coffee, and it's supposed to work, but not sure how you'd get it to work in something like cold tea. I guess I need to figure out how to refine it somewhat.

[sign in to see URL] cool on starting a yogurt thread! May have to try making yogurt at some point. I think next round of butter making, I'm going to try making some cottage cheese with the butter milk.

Re: South Beach Diet

I have a stevia sprout! Actually it's so early I'm afraid it might be something else.

My plan for the stevia leaves if I get them plants to grow is to dry and powder them, then add very, very sparingly to foods. I guess the levels of sweetness vary from plant to plant so it'll take a little while to figure out how much I need.

That's how I'd do the stevia. Pick it, allow it to dry and then crush it with my mortar and pestle. ....of course, I probably need to get one for my kitchen. The one I use now, has been used to crush incense and such.

You'll have to let us know how it all [sign in to see URL] I hope the sprout you're seeing is, indeed, stevia!

I have a couple seedlings in two of the six pots I planted now, so I am relatively convinced it's stevia. But it's only been about one week, and the packet says two to three weeks. Guess the warm greenhouse shelf is the right place.

So far South Beach seems to still be working for me. Down 11 pounds as of yesterday. The weight does drop slowly now, but when I put on my jeans yesterday they fit much better than they have in a long time. emoticon

Good for you! Having clothes fit better is so much more satisfactory to me than a number of the scale. You KNOW things are changing then!

Thank you very much!

Today a lot of chocolate pudding was consumed. One of those days. emoticon But, it was sugar free, so ultimately am not doing too bad. Every once in a while, a girl needs her chocolate fix.

I have always said that in order for a diet to truly work, you have to have your weak moments and consume something [sign in to see URL] seemingly naughty! Once in a while is not going to undo anything you've done.
