Re: Seeds and planting

The other Wisteria sprig is now full of leaves as well...so, I'm happy.

Herbs continue to grow, but I'll wait several more days before I transplant them into the pots I bought for them. Give them a bit more time to fully establish emoticon

Every time I turn around, the hostas have grown another inch. I take a walk, I come back, and they're taller. It's a little scary! I'm afraid they're going to eat my dog! (She's just a little thing, after all...) emoticon

Re: Seeds and planting

I know what you mean, Rebecca! It seems mine are growing by leaps and bounds. It almost seems like they were sprouts one day, and a day later, they were 7-8 inches tall. I've got 4...3 of them were taken from one plant, and transplanted...and it's already time to thin the 'Mother plant' again! Nowhere to plant more of them, though....so, I may just have to leave it be.

I've got 2 rose buds on one of my rose bushes, but I'm afraid the cold will get them tonight. It's suppose to dip down to 30 degrees tonight  going to mess up a lot of my plants. I've not had time to cover any of them up.

emoticon guess that's just something you have to deal with when you have a lot of plants!

Re: Seeds and planting

Queeny, there was no time to cover them. It was late when I got in last night, and I was so tired, I simply had nothing left to give. The wisteria, one of my hostas, and one of my fig trees all got blitzed. I'm hoping they'll come back OK. Don't know about the rose bush...DH kind of did a running check on things before we both had to head out the door this afternoon. It's too hot to cover them in the daytime, so can't put anything over them then...it'll suffocate them and do more harm than good. So, really hoping they'll all be OK.

Oh don't you just hate late freezes? What's your average last frost date? Ours is March 15th or so. Last year we got hit a full week into April. EVERYTHING was so set back! emoticon Hope your stuff recovers quickly!

Oh, I hope everything pulls through. Might have only nipped the buds that was out. *fingers crossed*

Less than 30 miles from us towards the mountains they got almost a foot of snow yesterday...more today and tomorrow. emoticon
Good thing we changed out mind about leaving. That is the direction we would have had to go! emoticon

Re: Seeds and planting

Texas, yeah, I really, REALLY do hate late frosts. Generally we can expect at least one last one around the first week of April, but after that, it usually is OK. With it having been so warm, everything bloomed a lot earlier than usual, so when this frost hit, it did some major damage. One of my fig cuttings that we had just planted, had a good sized fig on it....not any more emoticon It shriveled up into just about nothing!

We're going to have to totally cut down one of the hostas and hope it will come back up. It looks like freezer burnt lettuce. The leaves are all wilted and yellow. It killed my 2 rose buds that..one had just started to bloom..the other one never had a chance. SO aggravated! Oh well...price you pay when you have plants, I guess.

Oh yeah... and, to top it off...my herb seeds are not doing well at all. I may just end up going to buy the plants there, too..and transplant. emoticon NOT a good start to the planting season!
