I harvested the second cucumber this morning. I tried to hide it from her but she saw me take it out of my pocket in the kitchen! Fortunately, we had just finished breakfast so she only had 2 or 3 bites. I want to use it for some tzatziki!

More great goodies this week. We've been getting a steady supply of blackberries. the green beans are going strong. I could eat those every day! And this week I get to try a new [sign in to see URL]! It's a bitter/sharp green that looks like lettuce but you grill it. We'll see!

Green beans. Wow. My mom used to lay out the seeds mid-May. Harvest would begin in July.

I've been wanting to ask: Are you taking pics of samples, or of the whole load?

Those carrots look really small. emoticon

Re: Spring harvest!

This is what is delivered to each of our CSA customers every week. I'm a "tester" essentially - I get the basket and take a picture for the website too. Since most customers don't like complaining/praising, I get the basket and say things like "[sign in to see URL] lettuce was bitter!" or "[sign in to see URL]!?!"

This is one thing the current manager has struggled with I think - putting together baskets that have the "right" things. I did things very differently when I ran the CSA (made super sure there was a rotation of stuff, etc).

About 16 of these go out a week right now! Of course, depending on the day, there will be some variation, or you might get two smaller zucchinis or something.

I don't know what the deal is with our carrots this year. Those are the BIGGEST ones we've harvested!

I know that carrots like loose or sandy soil and yet also want much water. Kind of hard to grow in a dry climate.

Best of luck with them! emoticon emoticon emoticon
