Re: Magic and Ethics

Oh, I can certainly understand about the disability checks. I'm also on disability emoticon (and I HATE IT!) I pull in about $284 a month, after they take out my Medicare premium. You're basically asking for more of a donation type thing than an actual income, it sounds like. Or, potential barter which is really cool.
Yeah, Sage isn't cheap, by any stretch! I had to get a smudge stick to do a cleansing of my Dad's place after he passed away. It was like, his passing just brought in a host of spirit activity, which was disrupting sleep of myself and the caretaker we had hired to stay there and keep the place up in my absence. That thing cost me over $10!!!! Granted, it's a good sized one, but still! Plus, the gas I had to use up driving all over the place to find one. Anyway, I can understand. Generally, when I do a cleansing, I don't much bother with the candles and gems and [sign in to see URL]'s me, my Sage and my words, and that, so far, has worked fine for me. [sign in to see URL]'s me. We each have to do what works best for us and what WE're happy [sign in to see URL] what works for, or makes someone else happy/comfortable. As long as the desired result is achieved, doesn't matter HOW you got [sign in to see URL] that you got there!

I'd like to hear a bit more about how you set up for a house cleansing, if you don't care to share. I can always use ideas when I'm doing things like that, and want to try something [sign in to see URL] to see if it's something I'd like to incorporate. I've tried a few things, and rejected about 99.9% of them.

For clients:
I usually light a white candle for each room of the house and a blue candle as well for each room, I have already set up several items on a table or countertop that I may need as well.

Incense to clear the air, Sage to purify, Oil that I burn in a pan on the stove as well as oil that I might spray around, Salt and Water and then I will use Crystals for the appearance of trapping a spirit so that I can cleanse the more dangerous areas of the home such as a stairwell or a balcony.

I Then walk around with my Black die asking and chanting to see if each room is cleansed, of course during this time I am doing wild things like, avoiding possession, dodging spiritual attacks, etc and it usually lasts 2-6 hours if I am doing so for a client.

Now for my own cleansings of course I use the same items minus the crystals, salt and water and chanting which are all for the benefit of the client and do a simple cleaning, Though of course I believe its all psychological and benefits only those who come into my home that day or week, The smell alone can make you feel relaxed and at ease.

Cool.... thanks for explaining!! emoticon

I basically only use the sage smudge stick [sign in to see URL] on where I am and what's going [sign in to see URL] [sign in to see URL] most of the time, I just have a phrase I will repeat at each area of the home that is an [sign in to see URL], doors (interior and exterior) openings to attics, any cracks around windows/[sign in to see URL] I do both inside and out. If I feel more uncomfortable in one area, I'll spend more time [sign in to see URL] that's where I will do a very quiet chant. I rarely allow a person to go with me, unless they are more comfortable (not the trusting type and fear I may run off with the family jewels or something)...but that's more for my own benefit than anything else. I'm rather self conscious, so prefer to do what I do, alone. I work better that way on things like that. Shoot, I won't even do a spell or ritual with my husband in the same room with me. Partially because he's not Pagan and doesn't understand, and partially because it just kind of unnerves me somewhat.
On extremely rare ocassions, I may take my Athame with [sign in to see URL] just comforts me to have something sharp in my one [sign in to see URL]. I'm not afraid of the spirits that lurk in the dark, I'm afraid of the corporal beings that lurk in the dark! Ghosts and such don't scare [sign in to see URL]'s not to say if one suddenly materialized in front of me, it wouldn't surprise the crap out of me and cause my heart to end up in my [sign in to see URL] that's not fear, it's extreme surprise.

Anyway.... thanks again for your explanation emoticon

Re: Magic and Ethics

I'm not comfortable enough with spells to do them, but even if I was, for the most part, I would stay away from anything that would take away free will.

I say for the most part because if I had the necessary knowledge and experience, I would use a spell on one person and I wouldn't care what happened to her because of it.

My nieces mother (not sister in law) is a horrible person who neglects her children in the worst way. Let her babies (including my niece)get diaper rash so bad they bled. Left her youngest (six months old) in the care of my eight year old niece while she went and ran around town, making sure to tell my niece that if anything happened to the baby it would be my niece's fault. She has three times placed her daughters in the path of predatory men in order to shack up for however long the men would pay the bills with no care to what happened to my niece and her sisters. She routinely doesn't provide proper food, clean clothing, or even utilities. And is always dumping the children at whoever's house she can so she can go play. The authorities have been called numerous times to no avail.

So if I had the experience and knowledge to place some sort of binding spell on her so she could take no actions that would neglect or endanger her children, I would do it.

Syrakynn, there are times, like in the situation of your niece and her siblings, where it's OK to do things without [sign in to see URL]'s all in how things are worded. A simple separation spell may work for that, and those are so easy to do. I've got to work on one for a friend of mine who has asked for help with her ex and her kids. The ex has physically abused the kids when he's had them, but, like your situation, the law has not seen fit to do anything about [sign in to see URL], I am.

If you're interested, at all, in knowing how to do something like what I'm about to do, PM me and I'll explain to you what and how I do. I was asked for my help, so, as far as I am concerned, permission was given.

I need no permission. Period. If there is something I can do to make nature better, life safer, or people happier, I will, and do, do it regardless of who ever may object.

But then, I am somewhat different.

Muladzh, I agree with Queeny's statement!!!

You're a bit more tuned in, and know how to avoid getting bombed by any backlash!
