Willa's birthday week
Willa turned 2 on April 4th. We took a lot of time to spend with her all week and had such a blast!
The weekend before, we went to what we thought was going to be a small Renaissance festival. Turned out to be HUGE! Hundreds of booths and thousands of people. It was fun but a bit too hot and we just weren't prepared. Willa was surprisingly blase about the whole thing. She didn't seem to notice costumes, or jugglers or anything! She did LOVE the horses for the joist though.

Somehow I walked away with only pictures of that! She sat on Papa's shoulders and clapped and cheered.
Her grandparents then came and she had a good time bonding with them - it had only been since Christmas, so she saw them pretty recently, plus we Skype several times a week.
On her actual birthday, we went out to the farm for a nice fun family day. Her cousins came too, so they all got to play and get filthy (what else do you do at a farm? ).
Birthday cake (which she only ate one bite of!)

A few days later, we went on another adventure to a safari park. You drive through several hundred acres while various animals come up to the car to get treats. Willa was pretty unimpressed here too - she just kept calling everything a deer or a goat or a donkey. Guess it's hard to impress such a knowledgeable little one! But when we got to the ostriches, she was freaked out! They terrify me, and you could tell they were terrifying most of the other people in the park too. I swear they will take a finger off. We had some treats on the window and Willa backed way off and watched it gobble them down!

And finally, we spent a lot of the remaining time with the grandparents just playing in the neighborhood and having picnics. We didn't get a picture of Willa in the bluebonnets like we have for her birthday the last two years (bad year for them), but we found a big patch of purple verbena in the park at the end of our [sign in to see URL] then couldn't get her to sit still!

The weather was perfect and we spent several lazy afternoons in the yard.

It was an awesome birthday week!

Lovely pictures!
It's so good you took time to celebrate her birthday, and time to relax.

Re: Willa's birthday week
I'm glad you were able to take the time to just spend with her and her grandparents. She may not have been overly impressed with the Ren Faire, or the Safari thing, but she'll always remember that Mommy and Daddy took the time to spend with her like that. Even at 2, she won't forget that. Sometimes it's not what you do, but who you do it with that makes something worth keeping tucked away in your memories.
LOVED the pics!! She's such a cutie, and I really hope I get to meet her in person in June. A lot depends on if A has had Keira yet or not. If she does have her before I head back [sign in to see URL]'m going to try to get down there to see y'all on either the Sat. or Sun. that's in the middle of the time I'm there. That way, I won't be leaving her home alone with a [sign in to see URL] will be there with her. Anyway... just hoping I get to see y'all while I'm down there!
