And add that everything must be in harmony with itself....Yin/Yang theory I guess. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Queenyforever)Wed, 18 Apr 2012 18:27:40 +0000 Re: Divinityhttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p242800,from=rss#post242800https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p242800,from=rss#post242800I think you have to seperate 'Divine' from good and bad. To me, Divine is worthy of praise and being taken care of....anything NOT worthy (car accidents, cancer, trash heaps, etc) are NOT worthy of being taken care of in the aspect of nurturing it to grow and become more. You need to nurture cancer, in the aspect of eliminating it..not helping it grow. I think Divinty is the Earth, the Universe, Elements..... I don't think you can appreciate good without bad, so you need both for a balance. Without balance, you have nothing to work toward. I'll probably expand on this further on down the way a bit. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Saijen SilverWolf1)Tue, 17 Apr 2012 23:56:54 +0000 Re: Divinityhttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p242792,from=rss#post242792https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p242792,from=rss#post242792This sort of reminds me of the "everything is in God's plan" or "God created everything and therefore everything is beautiful". These sentiments appear in many forms in the three big monotheistic religions. I can recall sitting at a round table sort of gathering at a mosque where a man was talking about how Allah *was* everything and it made the world wonderful. My cynical brain kept thinking "oh yeah, cancer is great, famine is superb and don't you just love car accidents?" On the other hand, what is "good" without "bad"? Are they two halves of a whole or are they separate things? I can see defining Divine as being everything and then saying you can only appreciate the good parts when you have the bad parts. It's a complicated and subjective topic for sure. I think it is easier to differentiate between Divine and "other". I tried to look up antonyms for divine and could only come up with "earthly". I tend to not use the word divine but if I must define it, I think I would do so similarly to you and it would be something like EARTHLYIVINE! So that doesn't work for me. Perhaps sinister or evil is a good opposite. But even then...I don't like giving something as mundane as a cancer cell the "power" and intent that seems to come with either of those words. Hmmm...ok, now I'm off on a tangent. I'm going to think about this some more. Just wanted to get some thoughts down! Good topic!nondisclosed_email@example.com (TexasMadness)Tue, 17 Apr 2012 21:34:43 +0000 Divinityhttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p242790,from=rss#post242790https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p242790,from=rss#post242790I am in a discussion elsewhere that I need help on regarding what is considered Holy or Divine. To me, The Goddess Is The Universe/Nature, The Energies and The Elements. She is Holy to me and Divine. Natural Objects such as Trees, flowers, fire, rain, the moon, The sun, stars, water, rocks are divine and should be preserved, protected and honored. what from? That which seeks to harm it or destroy it. Man. Trash. Oil slicks. etc These things to me are NOT holy or Divine. Man made creations such as cars, guns and bombs are NOT Divine to me, The Goddess is not a car. How about HIV and Cancer? These things are more Natural than say a car. Yet I dont consider these things Divine either, I think if nothing else we should seek to attack and if possible destroy these things, I see them as a test unto our path. Now, maybe I am not as Naturalistic as I thought I was, maybe Solitary Eclectic something is more where I belong, Im not sure, this discussion has sent me on a serious thought tangent, maybe spiritual Atheist as contradictory as I know that sounds is right for me, I love Rituals, I love taking a day to connect with my Inner/Deeper self and Nature but thats about the extent of it for me... I have heard every 'argument' about how divine these things are and I just cant wrap my head around it. It doesnt work for me. Thoughts? Lets get this place hoppin!   nondisclosed_email@example.com (Irishdize)Tue, 17 Apr 2012 16:46:25 +0000
