Re: Beltaine

Well, I've done quite a bit of thought and meditation on this. Beltaine just doesn't resonate with me. Or perhaps it does, but as a general time of year, not as a celebration. I mean, I don't have any drive to mark the passage of time right now. Things are always moving along at a beautiful clip this time of year and every day is like a new beginning.

So, I think I'm going to mark Beltaine off my calendar at least for the time being. I'll certainly feel around each year to see if I need to add it back, but I've never yet been able to get enthusiastic about it and for the first time this year, I actually think that's an appropriate realization for me.

Re: Beltaine

We were going to have a fire last night, but realized that we need a burn permit. I thought about walking over to the city office to get one today, but I decided that I should not burn anything until I get rid of the mountain of wood chips in my back yard. (Fire hazzard, anyone?)

So I worked in my yard to celebrate Beltaine, I guess. Worked on spreading out the wood chips, planted some sunflowers and a little spinach.

When I was a little girl, my sisters and I would pick violets and johnny jump ups and put them in these tiny vases that my mom made in ceramics class. I have one of those vases, and think I will fill one with violets today. emoticonPerhaps I will light a candle tonight instead of a bonfire.

Re: Beltaine

I doubt we'll do anything. I'm not feeling the best. Got bit/stung by something on Sunday, and it caused my leg to swell up, and it's bruised looking, really blotchy red around it and itches like mad. I took a Benedryl last night, and I'm payin for it today.

Yesterday, we transplanted some of my houseplants, and such, so that may have to be enough for this year.

I ... missed it. emoticon

I was setting up my new writing blog on Monday night. Maybe that is fitting after all, I was creating something new and planting it on the web.

But since I live alone, I didn't go out and party, either. I could have, Walpurgisnacht, and Dancing into the May are quite popular in Germany. I just don't like that kind of parties.

Firle, sometimes, just doing your own thing is the best way to go.

You've planted a seed, of [sign in to see URL] May is about fertility and new beginnings, and [sign in to see URL] WHY you planted that seed, it has all the right components, so, yeah, I think that probably counts! emoticon
