Re: What spiritual thing have you done lately?

My cousin was the first one that taught me any kind of grounding technique. She had me do it standing up, with my feet shoulder width apart and my arms outstretched above my head about shoulder width apart too. Then imagine energy from the universe coming into one of your hands and flowing crosswise through your body and out the other foot into the ground. Then the energy from the ground comes back through the opposite foot and up across your body through your other hand. Essentially, it forms a huge figure 8. You let the energy flow until it comes to a balance and it's just a stream of light but there is no more flow.

When I do this, it's usually really fast at first and it takes a lot of concentration to slow the flow of energy down and finally come to a stop. I believe there is a specific direction it is supposed to flow but I can never remember. Sometimes it flows one way (i.e. from into my left hand, out my right foot, into my left foot, out my right hand) or the other (into my right hand, etc). I figure that must mean something but haven't bothered to puzzle it out!

There are so many different ways of doing it and I think each one achieves a slightly different result.

Grounding and centering isn't the easiest thing, but it's very much do-able.
The hardest thing for me is to keep outside thoughts from creeping in while I'm working on ME. Things that have no bearing on me getting grounded or [sign in to see URL] [sign in to see URL] do I want to do for supper tomorrow night. Or, do I really want to go [sign in to see URL] have to keep pulling myself back from that.

[sign in to see URL] my freaking problem! emoticon I can NOT shut off my mind.

So lately, I've been trying to do my 'grounding' AFTER I do the simple version of EFT..(SET)...I do the minimal [sign in to see URL] get me relaxed and [sign in to see URL] I go into the energy flow. But lately I can't seem to keep the "THOUGHTS" from intruding.
Strangely [sign in to see URL] Spirit Guide has interfered at least twice for sure.
So, I'm either doing something [sign in to see URL] there is some reason she does not want me doing it at all. emoticon

[sign in to see URL] welcome. I failed to mention that I am usually sitting 'Indian style' (legs crossed) Sit comfortably, but not so comfortable that you may fall asleep (done that more than [sign in to see URL])

It helps if you have something to lean back [sign in to see URL] wall, a tree, a [sign in to see URL] to keep your back from getting too sore and such.

Texas, I could never do it standing up. I'd be so antsy it wouldn't be funny. I can't stand still for very [sign in to see URL] leg starts to really bother me, as does my back. I either have to be moving if I'm standing, or I have to be [sign in to see URL] laying.

Queeny, yeah, I still have problems shutting my brain off. Way too many thoughts want to creep in. I wonder if we did some kind of chant, before hand, to still our minds, if that would help.... may be worth a try! emoticon

Well, I kind of thought that too, had a hard time coming up with one I could 'remember' emoticon .....so I do the the words to an Elaine Silver song:

By the Earth that is her body,
By the Air that is her breath,
By the Fire that is her bright spirit,
By the Living waters of her womb.
May the peace of the Goddess be
Forever in your heart,
The circle is open but unbroken..
Merry meet and Merry part…

I've been working on doing some "cooking with intent" sort of stuff lately. Especially in the morning when I have the kitchen to myself. I swear, breakfast tastes better when I do it!

I'm trying to add some more spiritual books to my reading list. So far, I've started [sign in to see URL] can't get through much of either one. emoticon

The first is actually not 'spiritual', it's called Living with Purpose when the Gods are Gone. I just can't get into it. It's not even a hundred pages and has a small format so I could probably finish it in a few [sign in to see URL] I can't make myself! It's sooo obtuse...

The other is a fictional historical novel called Confessions of a Pagan Nun. It's about a nun living around 500 AD in a convent dedicated to St Brigid. She was raised pagan and still has strong ties to the religion. It's so over the top that I haven't been able to get into it. I mean, the author is so smug in her writing. It's hard to explain. I'm going to force my way through a few more chapters as I'm just into the 'introduce the characters and scene' sort of part. The reviews on the book were good!

So that's been my spiritual [sign in to see URL] much!

What about you guys?

Basically, just trying to keep grounded and keep my sanity intact. Pre-show stuff is off the charts with all that had to be done, so I'm doing my best to do some grounding and centering off and on through the day. It helps me stay focused on what all I need to get done. Most of the time, anyway. It's hard to do when people are in and out at the theater, but that's where I need to do it the [sign in to see URL].

Texas, I hope you either make it through the books, or figure out if they're worth [sign in to see URL] if not, just put them down. Take them to a swap-shop or [sign in to see URL]. I hate books like that. You're not real sure what it is you're reading, because nothing is very clear. It's like they write all the way around the subject without actually touching ON the subject specifically. Irks me when I get books like that.

Full moon tonight. Any plans?

I'm just trudging along through the more mundane parts of life at the moment!

Nothing spiritual here, to be honest. I was so focused on the theater, and now just relaxing that I should have thought about how doing some good DEEP meditation may have actually helped me LOL...

Still got time!
