Merry meet

So I'm new.
New to this porch, newly wed, new to motherhood, new to homesteading, new to Texas, not quite as new to paganism. I'm a weary travelor, ready to settle my half acre, buy a sheep or two, expand the chicken flock with some ducks, find the confidence to keep unschooling as long as possible an continue growing in awareness of the beauty and wisdom of Mother Earth.
Seriously searching for a homesteading guru, a pagan supporter and a reading list. I love reading! But I get overwhelmed with too many websites and newspapers. I want old wisdom references. Who's got 'em?

Hi WonderingMomma,

welcome on board! You'll find some wisdom here, and also lots of fun. I'm looking forward to your questions and tales - how's the homesteading going?

Merry meet!

Hello, [sign in to see URL] we can eventually delete the Wandering part of your name, to maybe Wondering emoticon

It's nice to meet you, and I do apologize for not welcoming you sooner. I've been extremely busy with the local theater here, and not online a great deal the last several days.

Please feel free to not only ask any questions or put to word any concerns, but also share your own wisdom. We are all students here, in various stages, and are all willing to learn, teach and grow.

We have a 'library' forum where we list books of interest in many catagories, so feel free to check that out if you've not already, and jump in wherever you feel the desire or need.

We welcome your input and I look forward to your posts, and getting to know more about you and your growing homestead!

Blessings to all....

Welcome! I have wandered a lot in my life as well. Sometimes it is nice to settle in one place for a few years. Although I admit to having itching feet here lately. I swear I have a gypsy/nomad type gene from some distant relative in my blood.

Re: Merry meet

Thanks friends for the warm welcome!

I have to admit that I am nervous that settling into a farm-like lifestyle, while fullfilling my desire to live sustainably and closer to the earth, has to potential to hinder future travels...

I met this wonderful, 84-year old woman probably 15 years ago now, who had traveled to 39 countried in her life. I vowed to do to the same. I have now been to 16 countries. I believe seeing other cultures upclose and personal (without any agenda other than to 'fit in' to their worlds, live, eat, entertain as they would) has enpowered my want to live more simply.

Anyways - that's a little more about me. emoticon

I am so glad I stumbled upon this site! I look forward to more interactions!

Hello there! What part of Texas are you in? I "homestead" in the city in Austin and my family has a farm just SE of here near Lockhart.

Also check out the Exploration Circle book club we've just started this year. We are reading the same book and having discussions. Feel free to suggest a book!

Look forward to hearing more about you!

Texas,

I'm in Denton. Near Dallas, in case you're unfamiliar.

Queenly,
I love navy boys! My husband is a pilot, he went the civilian route, but I can't tell you how many navy boys I've known over the years!

Re: Merry meet

Wandering, I'll be pasing right by you, I think, in a couple of weeks. I'm headed to Killeen, to my daughter's. My son-in-law is stationed at Ft. Hood, and they are expecting their first baby. I'm going down to help out for a couple of weeks.
I'm hoping to get to go down to Austin to see TexasMadness while I'm there. We had the opportunity to meet face to face a few years ago, so I'm really hoping I get the chance to go see her and her family while that close.

What an awesome life you've [sign in to see URL] traveling sounds like so much fun. Isn't it amazing how much we take for granted in the US? I've never been out of the country, but not for a lack of wanting to.
Where all have you been?

I look forward to more posts, and, as I said before, don't hesitate to ask questions, and also to post things you think would be helpful to the rest of the gang here! We are all here to learn and teach! emoticon We're happy that you found us, and I hope we meet your expectations!
