How do?

Hi,

I'm Fong and I've been a pagan for over 10 years now. After about a year of contemplating inspired by some great experiences, at 32 I've decided to move towards homesteading with earth-protective/restorative practices. I've worked at goat dairies in the Denver area, and am so eager to learn what like-minded people are doing, that I've come here a-looking.

I'm also on the lookout for a homesteading community in the Rocky Mountains with which I fit.

Thanks for having this here.

Hello Fong, welcome!

Sadly, many of the goat people have stopped posting around here - they were too busy! But most can still be reached by PM, if you have specific goat questions.

Other than that, feel free to lean back, share in our discussions and have fun!

And I for one just love goat stories (even though I live in town and only call a balcony my own). So please share them, as well.

emoticon Hi and welcome, Fog. I am brand-new here, but I think this looks like a wonderful place to learn new things and meet nice people, so I hope you stick around.

 emoticon Hi, Fong and welcome!!!

I apologize for not welcoming you sooner, but I have been away on vacation (nice camping in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee!!), then came home to a few days of intense running, like the proverbial chicken without a head!!! YIKES!!!

Maybe you can help revive some of our goat interests here. We have had several in our past, but as Firle mentioned, life just kind of got in the way of most of them being able to post. Also, like Firle, I love the goat stories. I miss my [sign in to see URL] was just a big pet, but I still miss her. I would love to get into some goats where I am now, but we rent, so don't think it will work here. Maybe one day!
Please feel free to poke around, find things that may interest you, and if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. We'll help if we can, and if we can't, we'll try to find someone who can!

I SO miss the Rockies (lived in Aurora and Denver when I was ittttttty [sign in to see URL] was many, many decades ago!..lol) and miss the visits we used to make there every other year to visit family. One of these days, I want to get my hubby out [sign in to see URL] know if he gets there, we'll probably have to move, [sign in to see URL].

[sign in to see URL] to the board. Looking forward to your posts and goat stories, learing more about you, and hopefully, we can help you with some things, too.

Blessings to you and yours!

Saijen, my sister lives in Centennial, Colorado, lived in Aurora for a good 30 years, but now her side of the street is in another town without her moving an inch. Strange how that happened. I'm a bit familiar with that part of the world, having visited there to see my Sis. What a coincidence.

Re: How do?

I know how that goes with the dual cities, one street. In Alabama, and here in TN, though, it's dual states, one street.

There is Ardmore Alabama/Tennessee, then there is Bristol Tennessee/Virginia. One side of the road is one state, the other side is [sign in to see URL] kind of weird! LOL.

How does your sister feel about what's becoming of Aurora? I hear it's turning into a gang area, and not the nicest place to be anymore.

She retired early from being the registrar at Eagle Crest High School. Though she doesn't say much about the gangs and such, she did mention that a teacher had been attacked at the middle school by a Hispanic kid with a baseball bat and that you can't strike back or you get into trouble. The kid has all the protection under the law now.

That is so sad. I used to substitute teach, and then, the teachers and subs had the protection. I can tell you, if a kid hit me with the intention to harm me, I'd hit [sign in to see URL] the law!
