Maybe it would work with clicker training or some method like that. Best of luck! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Firlefanz)Tue, 19 Feb 2013 18:49:06 +0000 Re: Kidding season 2013https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p244647,from=rss#post244647https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p244647,from=rss#post244647We have actually talked about getting Willie Mae trained for kids to ride! It takes a lot of work to keep a donkey/horse prepared to have squealing kids on their back and I'm not sure I would want to undertake that. So in all likelihood, we would jut take Mexia (and Willa if she wants!) somewhere to ride on animals that are constantly in training. But I do dream of having them ride the donkey...! It sure would be cute!nondisclosed_email@example.com (TexasMadness)Tue, 19 Feb 2013 17:54:07 +0000 Re: Kidding season 2013https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p244643,from=rss#post244643https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p244643,from=rss#post244643What about your little burro? Won't she be a ride for Mexia? Love your pics. Willa looks so enchanted with the baby goat, it's wonderful.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Firlefanz)Tue, 19 Feb 2013 17:43:34 +0000 Kidding season 2013https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p244632,from=rss#post244632https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p244632,from=rss#post244632How could I forget to update about this?! We only have 3 goats due this year. I really want Willa to get to see one of the births but we already missed one. We didn't find out until about 7 at night that she looked to be in early labor. I figured we would hit the road first thing in the morning but she had her kid only about an hour later! Meet Delilah! She was born on February 6th to Bijou - a first time mom. Bijou is the FUSSIEST mom we've ever had. It might be because she is a first timer and no one else has kidded this year so she is just nervous. While we missed the birth, we did go out the next day to visit. At first, Delilah was lying down in the hay and Willa talked about how she couldn't walk yet. We have a few "big sister" books that talk about how when babies are born they are too little to walk, play, eat, etc. But I told Willa that Delilah COULD walk. She didn't believe me until she just jumped up and started scampering around. The look on Willa's face was truly priceless. Willa wanted to go into the little kidding stall with them. It made Bijou sooo nervous so Willa wasn't able to pet Delilah that first day, but she did get see her nurse - and was fascinated by it! Now that Delilah is a little older, you can pick her up and play with her - all the while Bijou is fussing though! Oh, and Mexia was unimpressed with the new baby. But she is obsessed with the goats. Ducks were Willa's favorite animal at that age, but Mexia needs a riding animal. She shrieks and squeals until she is put on a goat's back. Only Chloe, a yearling, will put up with it for long. We need to get Mexia a pony!!! nondisclosed_email@example.com (TexasMadness)Tue, 19 Feb 2013 16:55:43 +0000
