Then I had to hand stitch two sides to make it stand up right. I HATE hand stitching but this wasn't too much! nondisclosed_email@example.com (TexasMadness)Wed, 20 Feb 2013 13:56:40 +0000 Re: Niece's birthday presenthttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p244657,from=rss#post244657https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p244657,from=rss#post244657That's lovely! I bet it's lots of fun to play with, it looks both sturdy and soft. I'm actually surprised it's possible to do such a thing with a sewing machine!    nondisclosed_email@example.com (Firlefanz)Wed, 20 Feb 2013 09:06:18 +0000 Niece's birthday presenthttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p244654,from=rss#post244654https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p244654,from=rss#post244654First up on my homemade present challenge was a gift for my niece who turned two in January. This project sealed the deal for buying myself a sewing machine as I couldn't borrow my dad's since he was working on a project. I made a fabric doll house! The sides have needlepoint plastic in them so they are slightly rigid. Those were then wrapped in batting and encased in different fabrics. There are buttons with hair elastic bands to hold it closed, because it opens up! I loved doing the detail work - I've never used decorative stitches before so I had to try them out. I also made a little bed with a mouse in it, similar to this (I forgot to get a picture!) Whew. One down, a lot more to go! nondisclosed_email@example.com (TexasMadness)Tue, 19 Feb 2013 22:03:40 +0000
