But too often people are not gentle, but brash and inwardly ugly - they have violent instincts, which is why smudge sticks of sage exist. Most of the adapted Native American rituals tend to have become violent, because the ever so clever white man decides that the ingredients are too odd, so put their own in, causing violence and mayhem whilst doing it. Though the traditional smudge stick, with white sage, is as bad as the common sage more often used. If one has a poltergeist in your house, the easiest way to evict it is with a smudge stick of Cedar and Lavender will do the trick - if a poltergeist is present, all other spirits will have left before you notice it, so smudging will harm no-one else, just the violent and dangerous poltergeist. I have used furniture polish sprays, one in each hand, one cedar one lavender in emergencies, with very good results. So for that eviction you don't even need the smoke, but for safety's sake, don't try the furniture polish yourself.. If you must mess with a poltergeist, use smoke. But be aware that they have killed people before and most certainly will do again: poltergeists are dangerous. nondisclosed_email@example.com (muladzh)Thu, 27 Jun 2013 13:44:48 +0000 Re: Hauntinghttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p245389,from=rss#post245389https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p245389,from=rss#post245389I have two smudge sticks, with sage. I asked for them as birthday presents, but someone it never felt right to actually use them. Instead, I've used gentle incense, maybe twice a year. Muladzh, thank you for that lesson on Smudging. I've often wondered about it. To me, it always seems rather nasty to "toss a spirit" out...and that was what smudging always seems like to me. As for the bells....I have tiny bells on a lot of things. Wind chimes, window sun catchers, I have bells on barrettes for my hair...even my cats have them. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Queenyforever)Wed, 26 Jun 2013 21:52:11 +0000 Re: Hauntinghttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p245373,from=rss#post245373https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p245373,from=rss#post245373.. I shall ring it gently through my flat - haven't been sleeping well for weeks, until a few days ago. That's when I picked up the bell and rang it just to hear it chime. So now I know. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Firlefanz)Wed, 26 Jun 2013 08:00:32 +0000 Re: Hauntinghttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p245360,from=rss#post245360https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p245360,from=rss#post245360So..based on what you told me earlier today...and what I am reading here...when I did use Sage at my Dad's....I DID do what I should have, since they refused to 'listen' to my request to at least be quiet during the night, so the humans in the household could get the sleep we needed. When you are being grabbed, tugged, touched, spoken to and yanked on in the middle of the night, it makes it very hard to sleep. For 2 nights, I politely asked them to stop (yes....through thought)...the second night I wasn't quite as polite as the first night..but polite, none-the-less. When it still did not stop, I resorted to what I knew. Perhaps I could have done something less offensive, but was not aware...now I am. Still...I would have done the same thing, eventually, if the less offensive things had not worked. I get extremely testy when I don't get the sleep I need...and spirit or not...I tend to get bitchy with whatever is keeping me from sleeping when I need sleep. I don't mind a being/spirit in my house as long as they allow the rest of us who also dwell there to do what we need to do for our own survival. Sleep, eat, rest, work, etc. I don't even mind some pranks being played, if done during times we're awake. I've had all the plastic bowls in one cabinet come flying out...and landing a good distance from the cabinet they were in... I got a good laugh over that one..after I fussed about having to wash them since they'd landed on the floor. I've had a plastic clothing hook go flying off a shelf there was NO way possible it could have fallen from....it landed a good 3 feet or so from where it started. I honestly think that was either my Dad or my Uncle. And I know I have at least one spirit in the house now...the kids had an incident the other night with a bag of marshmallows. The spirit is more than welcome...because they don't bother anyone after everyone is in bed. That is one thing that irks me beyond anything...is an entity that wants to keep me awake. I've not had that happen here....only at Dad's, after he died...and it was like the house, all of a sudden.. was a major pitstop on the highway to wherever for spirit activity. At least one of the spirits there knew me...was a female and called me by name. I believe it was the same spirit who grabbed our care-taker by the ankle and asked who he was. Both incidents happened the same night and our caretaker was scared to mention it to me because he didn't know if I believed in spirits or not...but the activity in the house for several nights was outrageous. Neither of us slept for 3 nights...all night, due to all the activity, noise, touching, talking, walking, pacing....I had to do something. I will keep in mind the other herbs that can get them to move on, without harming them, but I won't forego the sage if it's needed. Only if it is truly needed, though. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Saijen SilverWolf1)Wed, 26 Jun 2013 06:07:52 +0000 Re: Hauntinghttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p245348,from=rss#post245348https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p245348,from=rss#post245348I have no idea why it went into italics. nondisclosed_email@example.com (muladzh)Wed, 26 Jun 2013 01:59:05 +0000 Re: Hauntinghttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p245347,from=rss#post245347https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p245347,from=rss#post245347Smudging is generally used in the non Pagan world to get rid of energies and the draining feelings after a while in a house. Using sage to do this is rather violent - if the energies were intelligent spirits, who are adversely effected by the herb sage - rosemary, oregano, olive leaf and curry leaves do the same violent purge of spirits, that causes pain and discomfort to the spirits. To me that is a no no, as the spirits do not mean anything by their presence - they have no knowledge of ownership, and do not know they should not be there. Chamomile, Rose and Sandal wood have a beneficial effect on a home - as does the Temple mix of incense - and can, with a chiming bell, gently remove spirits that are annoying in some way. They may be tactile contact, or sounds, but non mean anything harmful, so gentle suggestions of removal are the less violent way to go. The problem with using the sage and similar herbs is that the spirits are forced away, with no explanation as to why, so they understandably do not go happily. Pain is something they are not used to, and they get a little annoyed - enough in fact to send negative energy at the people who hurt them. They will follow that person to the ends of the earth, sending negativity at them, so health declines and so on. Stopping smudging will do wonders for stopping the negativity. Unfortunately the neo-pagan authors do not know of the things that are known to the ages old practitioners, and they fear us, so do not ask. Why they fear us I do not know, we offer them no harm at all, but they do not respond. Also unfortunately there are a few teachers of the Neo Pagan ideals that really do not understand the first thing about peaceful interaction between the spirits and the people. No matter what we modern people think, the spirits have been around a lot longer than we have, and can be very beneficial to all of us, so the new age way of not interacting in a friendly way is causing all of us problems. Smudge with incense that is not harsh, don't use strong aromatics, and keep the incense handy to use daily - it gives calming energies and doesn't harm anything. To easily avoid the need to get rid of boisterous spirits, display no entry markers: iron spikes, or long nails close to every corner of your house, and spread a trail of salt around, just once, to activate the iron. This gives a strong signal to the spirits that you don't want them to come uninvited, so they will stay away. Anything then that is felt in the property is just an energy, or maybe a shadow, that does not deserve consideration, and smudging would them be appropriate if you wanted to use it. But, without the iron, I always recommend not smudging.. If you have negative energies or vampiric energies sucking energy out of you, bells and chimes remove that easily, without the aromatics. I keep wind chimes around my home, bells are spread around inside, and we always have incense handy. I get far more energies and spirits around me, because of what I do, and have no trouble with them. They realise I do not want bothering, and go away. nondisclosed_email@example.com (muladzh)Wed, 26 Jun 2013 01:55:08 +0000 Re: Hauntinghttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p245342,from=rss#post245342https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p245342,from=rss#post245342Question! muladzh, what do you use smudging for? Problem with that method is that it is like using a machine gun to remove squatters. Kind of overkill, that need not be so violent. Outside, on the surrounding land, deposed spooks lamented their treatment, which means they had been getting revenge for a long while. I dealt with that problem, they won't give us any hassle, and we will leave them in peace, so long as they don't cause annoyance. Seriously though, only smudge (burn a sage or other herb bunch) if you really can't get the spooks to leave any other way - they will go, with a smudge stick, but not very far, and will do everything they can to cause problems. I can't tell people that though, they don't believe it, because their grandmother did it every year, and she was ok. (she may have died young with crippling disorder, but that had nothing to do with the regular machine gunning of spirits.) It all comes down to the people being too clever to help. They know everything and folk like me that have studied for over half a century to get to an expert in the field, don't know anything. I then spend time finding out which spook is pissed off, then chat with it/them, to figure out what needs to happen to get them to go annoy someone else. After a while, everything goes back to almost normality, I get a hefty check, and the house owner still says nothing happend. They are completely crazy. I had one case a few years ago, where the kids held a séance with an Ouija board and some passing spooks decided it would fun to join in. One kid ended up in hospital, and the house was simply destroyed - a bulldozer would be hard pressed to do that much damage, and the parents blamed the kid for doing it her little ten year old self. When told by men in suits that it was something classified and secret, the parents laughed at them and told them to stop smoking dope. People will only accept what they can understand - if they don't understand something, it did not happen. I still get paid, despite the subject humans thinking nothing happened. It was an eye opener - there are thousands of confirmed hauntings every month, and people still don't believe in ghosts. What does annoy me, is the insistence the authorities have in not confirming any haunting - they have internal memos about them, as do police and higher agencies, but none of them confirm the existence of haunting spirits. But then, with similarly overwhelming evidence in their files, the continue to deny the existence of extra terrestrial intellect. I used to enjoy working with the agencies - I would have to sign a waiver, before I could get paid, agreeing to keep silent about what I did. The agreement was unconstitutional so was binding for only as long as it took the ink to dry, and my check to be in my hand. nondisclosed_email@example.com (muladzh)Tue, 18 Jun 2013 00:33:03 +0000 Re: Hauntinghttps://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p245264,from=rss#post245264https://bthepaganporch.runboard.com/p245264,from=rss#post245264I have to agree with your statement about what a haunting is...and I can certainly see the locales you mentioned being as you say....some places just seem to be more conducive to hauntings than others. Any situation where you are troubled by something spiritual in a tangible form, it could be said that you, or the location, were haunted. By definition any spirit sighting or other awareness is a haunting. Some locations are more likely to be haunted than others.. In the mid-west, there are numerous townships that have histories of large amounts of hauntings - I have dealt with a few hundred in the last twenty years, and will probably deal with a lot more of them. Strangely enough, Washington state is not very haunted, but Oregon is. Northern California is, but Southern isn't. Illinois and Indiana are really up there, along with Nebraska. New York is supposed to pretty haunted but evidence suggests that there are few verified incidents there - but those verified are pretty spectacular. Violence seems to the common factor in New York hauntings. The most prolific area is central Louisiana, where ghosts are commonplace. If you suspect your location is haunted, putting an iron stake at each corner may well stop the haunting. a ring of salt will strengthen the suggestion, but not guaranteed. Anyone that wants more information can contact me, and I will answer their questions. A statement on this though. I am an expert - known to various agencies, with an international reputation. I do not argue the facts with anyone, so please if you have any ideas of your own that you want to argue with me about, don't waste your time, I don't argue. This last comment is to try to avert the emails that tell me I am wrong. I may be, but haven't found so yet. nondisclosed_email@example.com (muladzh)Sun, 16 Jun 2013 16:19:54 +0000
