Re: November Chinwag!

Muladzh, have you tried tapping for the dog? Basically, you tune in to the dog's emotions and tap on yourself as if you were the dog. I've seen it work very well.

TM, all the best for your family visit! Hope all goes well, and any "sillyness" can be avoided.

The PT guy allowed me much more range of motion yesterday and confirmed that the lump I feel in my shoulder area is simply a big old bruise or hematome. Sadly, he also proved I have next to no muscles left to move my arm around ... so now I need to exercise and will be sore again.

And the sling bothered me so much early in the morning this night that I took it off, programmed myself to keep my arm safely at my side and woke up in the very same position much later. Still sleeping on my back, and probably will for a few more weeks. *sigh*

Tomorrow, I'll go back to work. X-ray next week on Friday, and then we can see how well everything has healed already. I would like to surprise them!

Re: November Chinwag!

Hey, All.....I will not apologize for not being here lately, as it's for my mental health, basically not being online much. I do post some on Facebook, but that's due to the fact that the bulk of my family and friends are there, so it's just easier to make a few posts to everyone at once.

Firle, I am exceptionally glad that you are progressing so nicely, and quickly with your injury. Having a broken bone like that can sure put a damper on life for a while! I've not read the closed threads, so not sure what happened to cause the break.

Texas, sounds like you're staying pretty busy, and enjoying most of what you're busy with! I'm glad you're doing some things that you truly do enjoy!!

Muladzh, I'm sorry about the problems with the house, but was pleased to read that you and Frog feel that it's where you belong. I feel the same about this little house I'm in, even if it's not ours. I hope you're able to get things sold to have the funds to do the repairs.
Awesome on rescuing the dog (name???). If he's anything like some of the ones we've had here, give him time and he'll figure out you're not his enemy. I hope he hangs around long enough to find that out! He sounds like a really smart pup!

Queeny, YIKES on snow already!!! Please keep it up there!! LOL.
I hope the shots helped your Dad's pain. Sometimes they work, sometimes not, as you're aware!

Ok.....here, not much has changed. The kids are still living with us, and looks like it will be Spring before we get our house back to ourselves....if even then emoticon . If not for Keira, we would have already given an ultimatum, but the only other place they have to go is his parent's, and it's really not a fit place for a toddler. My SIL has been working now for several months doing intalls for Dish Network. Most days he's working, he rarely gets home before 7pm....usually it's after 10pm. He leaves the house at 4:30am in order to be in the office in Knoxville by 6:30, so he puts in some extremely LONG days. Makes life hard at times.

I am still volunteering at the theatre. I have finally gotten some help with the treasury stuff. Someone on the board 'found' a lady who was the bookkeeper for Clayton/Norris (the make mobile homes), before they downsized, and her job was cut since they closed that particular plant. Anyway, she's handling all the paperwork, I am writing the checks and paying the bills. I still would like to give it up, but she's asked me to give her a few months before making that decision, so, I will give her some time. She's only been with us for a bit over a month, and she's got one heck of a mess to figure out. She and I had a meeting this past Friday, and she told me she realized that a good bit of the problems I had been having were not my fault, so she's going to help me deal with the board on what is proper purchasing etiquette for a business like this. Things I kept telling them I was not comfortable doing, I was pushed to do. My counterpart told me if it's up to her, that won't be an issue in the future! YAY! emoticon emoticon Maybe I can do this, after all!

I've been home a week and a day from an almost week long trip to Alabama. I'd not seen my Mom and other family in 2 years, and with Mom about to turn 80, I seriously felt the need to go see her, so, I did. Had a fabulous visit. Most of my time was spent with her and my step-Dad. I spent one evening with family members from Dad's side of the family (Angie, whom most of you know) and others from that side, then my middle daughter and her crew came to Mom's the night before I left and spent the evening with us there, which was nice. I also got to see my step-Brother and sister-in-law and an Aunt by marriage on my second day there, so it was really nice. On my way back home, I met up with my oldest daughter and her girlfriend/"wife" in Chattanooga, and I treated them to a late lunch and we did some shopping and just enjoyed each other's company. It's a bit of a drive for them, as it was for me, so we didn't get as much time as we would have liked, but at least we got to see each other!
When backing out of my parking spot from where we were shopping, I had to turn further than I am used to, and ended up hurting my back, so have spent a good part of this past week with a heating pad and more pain pills than I like to take. I'm doing much better now, but am dealing with some additional problems with my legs now. Working on getting that taken care of.

We are having our big Thanksgiving dinner here at my house, we'll have 12 people here. In a way, I am looking forward to this, and in another, not so much!! At least it's all family, and we are not eating until later in the day, making getting things prepared/cooked a much easier thing. No having to kill ourselves getting food ready by lunch time! Our menu is turkey, ham, green bean casserole, cranberried carrots, mashed potatoes, broccoli casserole, yeast rolls, cherry delight, pineapple cream pies, blondies, and possibly some other dessert....then various drinks.

That pretty much catches me up on what's going on here, for the most part, anyway. My DH and I are back in the house. We decided when we came back from our 2 week camping trip that we were going to move back into the house. It's been a struggle at times, but we're managing.

Saijen! It's sooooo good to see you here.

I totally understand not wanting to post, due to sheer exhaustion and stress. I'm so sorry to hear you still don't have your house back! Man, it's all understandable, but your small house is meant for two, not five people.

Glad you had such a good trip, hope you got home fine. Sorry about your neck, those things can take so long to resolve. Strained muscles heal very slowly (sometimes slower than bones, I think!).

Sending you lots of energy for your Thanksgiving dinner and weekend - 12 people! Hope they'll all do their bit to help you.

I broke my collar bone about five weeks ago when Lennox bucked me off and I landed hard on my shoulder. (*sigh*) It's almost healed now. Turned out, the biggest problem is not the bone itself, as that has a wire inside, to stabilize it. No, the big thing is getting the arm mobile again, after immobilizing it for a week or so. I still have a hard time reaching behind my back (hope I can take my bra off today! emoticon ). PT people are happy with me, though. An x-ray on Friday will hopefully show much healing and improvement.

*sending lots of hugs and encouragement*

Re: November Chinwag!

Firle, I did get home just fine. It was a long, but really good day. Been home a bit over a week, now.

It wasn't my neck that ended up hurting, it was my entire back, down into my legs. It was bad enough that I had to stop frequently to get out and walk between Chattanooga and home (that's about a 3.5 hour drive without stops). I made it home around 10pm or so. Got what I absolutely couldn't leave in the truck, into the house and left the rest for the following day...came in, got comfy and took a pain pill and tried out a foot bath/bubble/heat spa thingy my Mom had given me. Oh my, that was a nice treat!! It was something my brother and sister-in-law had given to her, and she never used it (in 5 years). Glad I was the recipient! LOL

For bra removal....turn your bra around....it can be done one handed.....and unhook it that way. Makes it a lot easier and less painful! LOL

Re: November Chinwag!

My body is so NOT happy with our current weather situation. We've had some cold, but it usually only lasts a day or so, but we're coming into Winter now, and it's been a cold, dull day here! It was supposed to only get up to about 35 yesterday, but made it to the mid-high 40s, however, today, it's not gotten past 38 degrees! BRR. Sure does make me ache! They are predicting sleet/snow tomorrow, and I have to be out and about. No choice, unfortunately! Just hope if it decides to get really nasty, it waits until I am back home.

I hope the weather doesn't keep family from making it on Thursday. Everyone is supposed to be bringing some of the food, so one person isn't having to do all the cooking. If they can't make it, we'll be minus the turkey, green bean and broccoli casseroles and one of the desserts. We can make do if we must, but it's more fun when we're all together!

Re: November Chinwag!

Yep, that's how I put on the bra. But turning it back when I'm hot and sweaty from my walk cannot be done with just one hand ... right now, I'm just doing without. Haven't had any complaints yet (and Germany is easier in that respect, too).

I did too much on Sunday (moved a carpet, thinking I absolutely had to), and now my shoulder really hurts with some movements. I'm being very careful now, sleeping with the sling again and hoping it's not bad damage. Going to make more PT appointments today.

Hope your family can make it! I like the idea of everyone bringing parts, to spread out the cooking.

*sending lots of hugs*
