Re: January Jaw-wagging

Little dogs are a lot of fun. We have a chihuahua, that I wouldn't recommend, they are not the friendliest of dogs, Yorkies are hopeless at being house trained, and poodles are kind of vicious.
The weather here is rather strange. Today it was 52 degrees, two days ago the high was 22, next week it will be a low of 0 and a high of 11.. Then in the fifties again. Crazy.

Re: January Jaw-wagging

Yes, the cold snap is making headlines even over here.

We're having a very mild winter, lots of rain and warm temps. Might even get up to 10C this week. I don't mind. Don't feel like walking on slippery sidewalks, with my collar bone barely healed.

I've been looking at lapdog breeds. I would like a low-shedding one. It must be small enough so I can carry it up the many steps to my flat. I like the Bolognese dog. They look like a nice breed, smart and trainable.

My dragon short story is growing. I love how it's turning out. Will share once I feel happy with it.

Re: January Jaw-wagging

We've had a fairly quiet go so far this year...of course, only 6 days in...lol.

I managed to finally do something I've wanted to do for 15 years!!! One of NASCAR's main race tracks is an hour from my house....Bristol Motor Speedway. Every year, they do the drag strip and the round track up in millions of Christmas lights, and I've always wanted to go. It's not very expensive ($12 per carload). I had a $2 off coupon from my grocery store, so, I decided that if I had to go by myself, I was going! The entire household ended up going, which made it even better. We put Keira's car seat in the middle of the truck's back seat and her Mommy and Daddy rode on either side of her...my DH drove and I got to sit back and enjoy! I did get a dab of video before my camera totally died on me. I'd forgotten to check the batteries and take fresh ones with me. I was almost afraid I had built it up in my mind to be more than it was, and that I'd end up disappointed, but thankfully, that was not the case. I totally enjoyed it, and am glad I pushed myself to go.

We had a quiet Yule, and a very loud and happy Christmas. Unlike Thanksgiving, there was no drama, no problems....and it was a good LONG day. Woke up to Santa and Keira digging into those goodies, then we opened gifts. I fixed a breakfast of pancakes and bacon, then we started getting ready to go to my in-laws for more gifts and the big family dinner. It was close to 11pm when we finally got home, but it was a wonderful day of much good!
We didn't do anything special for New Year's....stayed home where it was warm and just enjoyed knowing a new year, with good things was just a few moments away. I could have gone to a party of sorts at the theatre, at the invitation of the guy who had rented the venue for the party, but I'm really not into that kind of thing. I can say this....I will have no problem renting to this guy again, if he chooses to use the venue again. He had it as clean as it was before he took the keys, and even took the marquee letters down and dried them off (it had been raining) before giving them to me to put away! I really appreciated his efforts and told him so.

We are in our Winter lull at the theatre. The last cast did a phenomenal job striking their set (taking everything down and putting it away, painting the stage if needed, etc.) and in the process, straightened up a massive mess in the back storage/dressing area. I had very little to have to do to get the place ready for the above mentioned renter, which made me VERY happy! We'll be working on getting something together for Valentine's, but in the mean-time, it will be just maintaining things at the theatre.

Weather here has been kind of odd. Warmer than usual some of the time, but now, we're in the grips of the winter storm. While it's sunny right now, it's been snowing off and on all day, and it's COLD outside. Windchills are in the negatives, and all of my windows have ice on them. The wind chills are so bad that my son-in-law's company has sent everyone home. The intallers/techs can't work out in these temps, and many other businesses are closing early so employees don't have to drive home on icy roads in the dark. Being in a mountainous area, gotta watch those roads!! Most schools are either closed, or were on delayed start and are closed early. Many laugh about that, but here, black ice is very prevalent, and not to be ignored. Rather everyone be able to stay safe than to worry about going off the sides of one of these mountain roads!!!

DH has been hunting, but did not manage to shoot any deer this season. However, we've had 5 given to us, so our meat stock is once again piled high! Thank you, Goddess!!! We have a neighbor who loves to hunt, but he and his wife can't eat as much meat as they would have if he got a deer during each section of the season, so, he gave us some, knowing the meat would be greatly appreciated. He got to enjoy hunting, and we get to enjoy his efforts. Our friend also gave us one, as did our landlord. So, we're stocked for another year on meat!

I will begin plans in earnest for a fundraiser for some friends. Their youngest son has an type of blood disease, and is having to take chemo and such. He's only 11, and the dad (the whole family are friends of mine) is on disability, so not a great deal of money is coming into the family, although the mother is working, but from home for the most part, right now. She's a physical therapist/instructor, so she's able to do some of her work from home, via computer. They are spending a great deal of time at Children's Hospital in Knoxville, and the dad just got home from having to have back surgery at Vanderbilt in Nashville. Thankfully, his surgery helped him immensely! Anyway....I am going to do some kind of fundraiser to help get this family some funds coming in. I had originally thought of doing some type of festival type thing, but am looking perhaps more at a craft/art fair. Charge vendors so much per booth with proceeds going to the family...with a certain percent of sales from the vendors also going to the family. Not a large percent....10%-15% perhaps. Even if someone wanted to donate yard-sale type items to the cause, then all proceeds from that would go to the family, since no cost would be involved. I already have the theatre reserved for March 15th to hold this fundraiser, I just need to get with the family to settle on what we want to do...what may get the best results and such. I've even contacted our local Shriners to see if they'd be willing to help, but the family has to contact them for them to get involved. I also have the event planner for Ripley's Aquarium of Gatlinburg on board to help with planning and ideas (he's also a friend of both mine and this family's)...so, got some good things in the works, I hope.

Of course, the main thing we're hoping for in the near future, is that the kids are able to finally get funds together to seriously begin their hunt for their own place. While we've managed, things have been tight, and in 6 more days, they will have been living with us for a year!!! I love my young'uns, but I'm more than ready to have my home back to just me and DH!

We have talked, lightly, about the possibility of finding our own place. We rent where we live, and this house is starting to have some major issues. It's an older house that needs some work, and while some will be done hopefully this week (or as soon as it's warm enough), I'm afraid it's a bit too little too late for one of the problems. I know what we'd like, in the way of a place, but.....we have a Cadillac taste on a bicycle budget! LOL...so, we're looking at various options....one being the purchase of my Uncle's 43' motor home, and just going full-time. We can't do anything till the kids are in their own place, however. I do look for some excellent happenings this year!!

Now, I seriously need to go find some food....I've not eaten since I got up and I'm seriously hungry!!

Blessings to one and all, and, I will TRY to get here more often, but please understand that life is at a stage right now that doesn't always allow me to do what I want, when I want. It's not all bad stuff....just LOTS of different things going on that require more attention than usual.

The weather really is odd - it is bitterly cold today, the heat can't keep up, supposed to get down to 2 degrees tonight. so far the water is still working, nothing has frozen, but the vehicles don't like it - batteries may die this winter.

Saijen, glad to see you! And I'm sending best of luck so your kids can find their place and you can find the best place for you! And if that means fixing your house, so be it.

Congratulations on getting so many deer. It's wonderful to have such generous friends who help you keep your freezer stocked. I suppose I should wish for a hunting friend!

Of course, we should also get Queeny back here, she can tell you all about going RV full time. emoticon

I'm adjusting to going back to work and getting up two hours earlier than in my vacation. I love my light alarm that lets me wake up to a room filled with light! That makes it easier.

This morning, I wrote a little fight scene for my dragon short story, and now my heroine and her dragon are safely ensconced on a remote island, resting and getting ready for some more exploring. Fun times!

Re: January Jaw-wagging

Froggy an I have done the full time RV scene a few times, and we always end up buying somewhere. We like to garden and grow things, so we need a place to do it. I always like to have an RV though, one large enough to just up and go, whenever we want. I am thinking of replacing the Mack for something younger, the old one is a tad annoying at times, and needs a lot of work if we keep it. It kept us alive and warm in the middle of winter, in Nevada - it gets incredibly cold there. A new one would have to be less than ten years old, I reckon.

I was very impressed with the research I did on Scrivener so now I have my own copy. I bought it from Amazon, so don't have the 30 day trial, but I like it so far. I am going to transfer a couple of my old novels into it, and export them as a kindle eBooks. Should be fun.

Re: January Jaw-wagging

I have family members (multiples) who had done full time RVing, and loved it. The last of them, my Dad's baby brother and his wife, are just now settling back down to a permanent place, after being full-timers for the last 16-18 years or so. They asked if we wanted to purchase their MoHo (the one I mentioned above), and we've given it some serious thought. We have enough funds for a strong down payment so we'd not have as much to have to borrow, but we're not sure if we really want to go that direction. We can't afford to make payments on a permanent place and an RV. The pop-up we have now was totally paid for when we bought it. Paid cash for it (Thank you, Daddy!!!!) with money from my father's estate and the insurance when the tornado took property. We'll figure something out one way or another. Of that, I have no doubt!!

We made it through the bitter cold last night. A friend had posted in FB about tossing small amounts of hot water out at her house, to watch it freeze as it fell, and of blowing bubbles that also froze...so, at 1am this morning, my daughter and I were out on our front porch attempting those experiments, without any success. Oh well, it was fun to try!! Needless to say, it didn't take long to about freeze our nostril hairs, and everything else! Not literally, but if we had stayed outside, it most assuredly would have!! I had multiple layers on top....my t-shirt, a long sleeved flannel shirt, DH's hoodie and his heavy jean jacket. Just some sweat pants and my house-shoes below! LOL. My toes took forever to warm back up!

Today has been spent doing very little. My body refused to allow me sleep until 5:30 this morning, and my phone woke me up at 10:20, and I've still got a bit of this head cold that's making me feel slightly icky, so....haven't done much but sit, and work hard at staying warm! LOL.

Not much else going on....too darn cold!

Re: January Jaw-wagging

I don't think I could do full-time RV-ing. I have too many books!

On the other hand, I would love to live in a place where it is warm most of the time. I'll see how it turns out in this life.

I had a busy day yesterday with work, helping a friend with some EFT, getting a TAT session for myself, revisiting a teaching video and doing the exercises, and then leading a group meeting where we talked about the video, our results and how that influences our business.

I'm sooooo happy that I found writers as my niche market. I KNOW how writers think. Creating copy is so easy now - and I love what I'm creating for my future clients. Hopefully, I'll have some sun today or tomorrow, so I can shoot some video for my challenge (44 signups! YAY!).

The reason we have a full size truck for an RV is the amount of books we carry around.we have overloaded small rvs to the point of damage.
