Do you have "nature" indoors?

Well, I live in town. And while I have a balcony, and a bit of a garden in the back yard, I don't have direct access to large bits of nature.

So I love having plants in my apartment. I have two palm trees, several orchids, an African violet and a few others. Most plants were gifts, too.

I love them and take care of them, and I believe that does connect me to nature a little bit.

What plants do you care for in your house?

Aloe, spider plants, a potato tub, some green ferns, two air plants, and some cacti, then outside we have a couple of hundred trees.

Do you talk to the plants inside or ouside?

I sometimes talk to mine. And I forgot the spider plant on the book shelf next to my desk. It looks over me.

I talk to anything living. Have done for years, and they seem to like it. Sound vibrations make things react. Probably a good thing.

[sign in to see URL]'s see. I have 2 Sheffleras (probably spelled that wrong), 2 Peace Lilies, a TON of aloe, Red Shammrock, 2 Spider plants, some Wandering Jew, 1 Jade plant, 1 African Violet, 1 Princess Lily, and some other plants I'm not sure what they [sign in to see URL]'s 2 different ones. One is almost vine-like with heart shaped leaves, and the other has broad leaves, with an almost Palm type stem, but it's not a Palm. ALL of those are indoors at the moment. Outside, there's 4o'clocks, Mums, Wisteria, a Butterfly Bush, various Lilies and other type things, Hostas, Roses, Lilacs, Fig tree, apple [sign in to see URL] of course the things that nature put [sign in to see URL] yes, I talk to my plants. I very much enjoy having plants around me. I feel almost naked if there's not at least a couple of living plants in the house year round. The larger things like the Peace Lilies and the Sheffleras don't go outside at [sign in to see URL] winds here would blow them over, as they are fairly good sized. The smaller things, in warmer months, sit on a shelf on the front porch. In colder weather, the shelf and all it's contents come back indoors. Right now, it's sitting in front of the double windows in the den so they can get plenty of light.

Oh, that's right! Peace lilies - I love them. Have a huge one at the office and two small ones in my practice room.

Glad you have so much greenery around you, Saijen!

I would seriously hate to think of how stale the air in this house would be in the Winter if we didn't have the plants!

I had to get onto Keira [sign in to see URL] of the Shefflears is in a corner in my living [sign in to see URL] she discovered she could scoop the dirt out of the pot with her hand! ACK!!!!! She had a HUGE pile of dirt on the floor when I discovered what she was doing! Poor plant!!! LOL. She's going to take after her Grandma and enjoy playing in the dirt, looks like!

I have a Shefflera in my office, and it's getting way too big for the pot. In fact, it is so desperate it has flowered three times by now.

It's too big for me to carry home. So I plan to bring new dirt, cut off the shoots, remove all the old roots from the pot and give it a fresh start.

That will have to wait until I can ride a bike again, but it will happen this year. emoticon

I probably need to repot both the Sheffleras when it gets warm enough to. I also need to separate all the Aloe babies in the main pot. They're taking over the 'mother'!! [sign in to see URL] some aloe???????? emoticon
