The one really appealing thing about the Porch is how it never keeps on topic... emoticon

Health store on Broadway, in Rogersville = $38
Earth Fare in Johnson City = $36

Both prices for 60 capsules

About side effects and warnings in medicine both herbal and allopathic.

The warnings are extreme reaction warnings, some people are less sensitive, others are more, almost all of the non-narcotic pain medications, from Acetaminophen, to Ibuprofen, via Aspirin, Motrin, Panadol Paracodol and a few others cause bleeding and liver damage - acetaminophen is the number one cause of liver failure in the US, but is still the best selling OTC pain med.

What my own experience with myself has proven, is the Curamin, is less damaging then any other one's readily available at the drug store, and considerably less dangerous than the narcotic prescription drugs. I have a sensitive tummy, always have had, and there are no symptoms of damage from either Turmeric in foods, of which I consume occasionally, and the Curaman.

I have a huge book, over a thousand pages, that defines the herbal media medica, and a companion book, of fifteen hundred pages that shows reactions known to allopathic medicine between herbs and drugs. More than half of the possible reactions, are present in less than ten percent of patients, but are still set as warnings.

Things that are not warned about are celery, that reacts badly with narcotics, and heart pills; bell peppers, that react badly with stomach ulcers, and intestinal problems. The list of common foods that react badly enough to kill, is vast. Again, this reaction is with less than fifteen percent of the people taking them.

I'm with [sign in to see URL] most certainly did! emoticon

Whatever the truth is about Curcumin, or even turmeric, it is the only option I have. Certainly I would recommend anyone using a doctor, speak with them before trying any herbal remedy.

I so hope it helps [sign in to see URL] know that if I were to talk or have my parents TRY to talk to their OLD [sign in to see URL] would have none of it.
Doubt my parents would even [sign in to see URL] was thinking of trying it myself for pain.
Cause IF it worked on [sign in to see URL] my Dad and Mom might be willing to try... emoticon

Just found an interesting article about mindfulness exercises that help people reduce the amount of painkillers they need. Very simliar to meditation:

]Beating pain and painkillers: New mental intervention treatment

Interesting, right?

I'll have to read that more in-depth when I have time [sign in to see URL]'m doing a quickie this morning. But it sounds promising.

Muladzh, I sure wish I had books like you do. I'm so in the dark about the pills and foods the doctors have me on, and even more so with the pills they have my Dad on.... emoticon

As a researcher, I have about twenty thousand dollars worth of specific reference books - the herbal medica costs about $850, used.. I had to get the new version, that updates every two years - at $1300 a copy. The nutrition reference systems I have are due for update this year, and they are not cheap, but if I did not have the most recent references, I could not the clients I have. And yes, They do ask what reference systems I use.

If the pay wasn't so high, when I get it, I would not do this work at all - finding the hard-copy reference books is getting harder every year - too many publishers are digitalising the big books, and most academic institutes do not accept digital copy as valid. ( because it is too often edited badly, with many mistakes.)

I have three books in my Amazon wish list, for the next big cheque to pay for.. It should be here at the end of this month, then I can get the books I need.

Ok Ok..... but I remember a time, not so long ago, you all were fussing about us all getting off topic, so was just trying to do what you all had asked for originally
(I believe we had decided if the 'off topic topic' was interesting, we'd create it's own [sign in to see URL] was I dreaming?) emoticon

The health food store on Broadway is The Green Boomerang, and Vashti (can never remember her last name) is pretty current on things. I've gotten quite a bit of stuff from her.

Earth Fare is a good store, but generally more expensive than I like.

Firle, that was an interesting article. I did notice that it said it was done before taking an opioid, to help keep people from abusing/misusing that type medication, not as a replacement for it.
